My opinion on any one that would judge that purchase is they have had a blessed experience and not experienced a deep grief of losing a loved one. Which is not their fault but just another way of saying “until you have walked in someone’s shoes…” Go forth and treat yourself ponyhairs. The significance of the ring will bring so much to your daily life going forward. My cousin is a chef and got a custom knife made that incorporated his mom’s ashes and a turquoise stone (her signature jewelry) in the handle. He uses it every day and it was an inside joke with his mom because every time he would visit her he would complain about her dull knives when he cooked for her.

Our house is big enough for now, but I would give up an arm (I’m exaggerating) to have more storage. We have a 1 car garage and basements aren’t a thing here. We also only have a one car garage...which H uses to house his action figure collection and as his podcast "studio". So no actual storage. Thank god people don't park in their garages here lol Nobody parks in their garage here either. If they even have one

One good thing about winter, it forces us to keep the garage clear enough for the two cars. Cuts down on my tendency to keep all "good boxes" and "jars that could be useful."

ponyhairs it would make me so happy to know a grieving spouse honored her husband that way. Don’t you dare let yourself feel guilty for that.

I miss you all but I’m so freaking busy between ds2 and work and regular life stuff that I don’t want to become one of those pop-in “look at me!” posters.
And hi, I’m on a mini getaway weekend drinking tequila by the (indoor) pool.

I got an email for $30 off the Vixen by Micheline Pitt website. I need to not buy anymore dresses but I don’t want the code to go to waste. Do you want it?!?

I love the honor gifts one million percent, do your thang ponyhairs and that ring is gorgeous. But I personally am having some feelings about eating from a knife made from someone’s ashes. 😬

I have a maybe controversial confession. I am going to spend some of the GFM money we received on something a little frivolous and I am feeling a ton of guilt about it. I am going to get a ring made with some of Chris' ashes and is it $1000 I need to spend right now, no, but also it's not a million dollars and it's something that will bring me some comfort. Look how gorgeous it is. I worry that people who donated will be offended that they gave me money to live on and I'm buying jewelry instead. I'm just one person but when I give to GFM, I release it. I want the person to use it as they see fit. Their need. I really don't think about it further.

Everyone is different and I don't feel that just because a ring with ashes isn't something everyone would pick that they didn't experience deep grief.
Everyone has their thing and their interests is all I'm saying. Someone might want a ring and another a portrait made. Doesn't mean one had deep grief vs the other is all I'm saying.

"My opinion on any one that would judge that purchase is they have had a blessed experience and not experienced a deep grief of losing a loved one." Again, some might just not like the ring. 🤷🏻♀️ It doesn't have to be that deep.

Because in my opinion, if you’ve grieved you know that everyone has different things they need to get through it. So if someone says “I don’t know why she would spend that money on a ring” then to me, it shows they don’t understand grief. My opinion and all as I said. But I just wanted to clear up that it isn’t about the ring. It’s about judging how someone acts during grief. My wording could have been clearer but I feel it wasn’t that unclear. 🤷🏻♀️

So if someone says “I don’t know why she would spend that money on a ring” then to me, it shows they don’t understand grief. I read what you said and I don't agree. As I stated it could just be a ring isn't or wouldn't be their thing. It doesn't have to be about they don't understand grief. So I'm saying it could be just about the ring and not that deep. It could be the ring isn't their style and doesn't have to be about the deeper meanings of grief. It could be just about the ring is my point. Also this is my opinion. 🤷🏻♀️ I just didn't like the they never experienced or understand grief chatter.

I "pay" a service fee when I pre-register for R's national races and buy our gate passes but the gate passes are discounted if you buy ahead online and we get a rebate of sorts for the pre-registering so I still save money. I'm fine with that but otherwise, nah I'll be writing a check or paying cash or whatever to avoid a fee. I've noticed places around here the "cash" vs "card" prices again so when it saves me money I'll pay cash. We had to pay a “convenience fee” to buy tickets online for a cheer comp for my daughter last year and then when we arrived had to wait in an hour long line for a wrist band. Pls advise where and when the convenience kicked in. We still have to wait in line to get in the gate/get our arm bands but it's cash only at the gate so I suppose that's part of the "convenience". Now for the registration, there's a separate line for those who pre-register and it never has anyone in it but the regular line is like a 2 hour wait sometimes. Yea I like to pre-register. And we get $25 "race cash" to spend at a retailer we spend a fair amount of money with so that $3 fee is just fine for me there.
