Coming in hot with this one.
I think really big houses for a family of four are by and large unnecessary. By really big, I mean over 3000 or so square feet, which is maybe generous, but I live in an apt, so my judgment might be off.
Brought to you by seeing some of my kids' friends houses. Damn.

I think fundraising for the direct benefit of the school and students is fine but I can't stand this nationwide shit of pushing fundraisers for American Heart Association telling students they can "win prizes" for donations. Stop hyping up my kid with the notion of a key chain to get my $10, go knock on Fortune 500's door.

The only time I want a much larger house is when my daughter has her friends over, or is having a loud FaceTime call and they want to stay up all night. The house I grew up in was over 4000 sq feet and my mom was very lucky that when I had friends over, we could stay up all night being loud teenagers and she could sleep soundly on the other side of the house. She spent a very large part of her day cleaning though, lol

I had opinions about house size at one point but now H and I are working at home and I would not want to move into anything smaller. So it’s certainly a circumstances type consideration.
But we also were super intentional about not having rooms sit empty. We knew we wouldn’t ever use a dining room so we built an office and media room, which became a second office.

But there's only 3 of us (and 4 dogs and a cat lol) but it's laid out really well, so it feels larger. Our old house was 1600sq feet with an awful layout and felt much smaller than what we have now. Like you though, i do wish our house was bigger when DD wants to have hella friends stay over because that would be helpful. but our backyard is massive (by CA 'burb standards) so it equals out i guess.

TBH, my opinion is unpopular even in my household, haha! My H thinks I have a very skewed idea of how much indoor space is reasonable to want.

My tab situation got much better for a while after some chastisement here last year, but somehow it has spiraled again. I just noticed this morning that I have 384 open tabs. 🙃 I will address it today!

I just didn't see how we could possible fit 7 teens in our house lol

Our house is big enough for now, but I would give up an arm (I’m exaggerating) to have more storage. We have a 1 car garage and basements aren’t a thing here.

Yeah we lucked out on the yard too for sure. Maybe when my boys are old enough to have friends over we can just make them camp in the backyard 😂

We had to limit DD1’s sleepover this weekend to 6 friends bc we just don’t have the space for more… but I’m also glad bc 7 tweens is enough. 😂
My confession is that I very rarely get emotional about my kids getting older, but I cried a bit this morning about DD turning 10. Not in a “I wish it wasn’t happening so fast” way, more like “I don’t know what I did to have such an awesome kid, she is the coolest and sweetest best” lol.

Ours is 1100ish and there are 3 of us so it should seem big enough but no because we just don’t have the storage space. If I had a basement I would probably be more ok but our spare room is storage and I hate it. My sisters is 4000 I think and it’s to much for me so I feel I’ll be happy with 2000 or so if there is a basement

I have learned recently that no matter what I will need a guest bedroom for when my husband won’t stop snoring at night.

We also only have a one car garage...which H uses to house his action figure collection and as his podcast "studio". So no actual storage. Thank god people don't park in their garages here lol

The one thing I wish we had more of is storage. Though I should probably get rid of a bunch of our old shit.
Layout makes a huge difference. Our apt is actually pretty spacious for the standard of the area, but I don't love the layout.

Our house is 2700 sq feet over three floors and I do like being able to sit upstairs in the living room while the kids are two floors down yelling and carrying on and I can't hear them.
It costs a lot to heat, though.

The Foo Fighters are highly overrated.
Their songs all sound the same and I was very underwhelmed when I saw them live.

So I'm pretty sure my dream is crushed.
