My child will not sleep today. Yesterday he slept beautifully during the day. Then last night was awful. He slept like 4t minutes at a time and was up for like 2 hours in between.
He was just up for 3 hours. DH and I finally took him for a ride in the car. He slept for an hour in the car then woke up when we tried to move him to the bassinet. I'm losing it today. He will kind of sleep if we hold him that's it. What is going on?
My brother just asked if I wanted to go to Niagara foe a weekend in november. I can't think to next weekend let alone 2 no the from now! Plus how would I take a 3 month old 6 hours away to a wine festival? Not happening. I'm scared to even drive J to my parents house 2.5 hours.away.

Add me to the doubting nursing club. I only pump half ounce at a time. I've been nursing 40 minutes then giving 1 oz.formula and .5 oz breast milk. While i know hes gaining now im wondeing if its worth it. I initially wanted to breastfeed for 3.months then I said 6 weeks now I'm seriously thinking of just giving it up after 1 month. Im.just not sure how much more of this i can do.
Those of u supplementing....what.formula do you use? How much are you giving per day? We are up to 7 or 8 ounces

king26, we use Enfamil newborn and are about 7 to 8 oz as well per day. We supplement in a big chunk morning and night, but I'm going to ask the Dr if she thinks we should do a smaller amount after each feeding instead. I don't know if this story will help or not, but with DS1, I thought of breastfeeding as all or nothing and nearly drove myself insane with a pumping regimen to build my supply bc I didn't want to supplement. We were forced to supplement after one month bc ds1 wasn't gaining properly (no more than birth weight at one month!). At that point, I thought breastfeeding was done for and was very upset. Instead, once I went back to work, he would nurse morning and night and I'd pump 3x at work for 9 oz which I'd send to daycare with him. Once I took off the pressure of trying to breastfeed exclusively, everything was much easier, and we ended up enjoying breastfeeding even though the majority of his food was formula. I stopped pumping a little over one year, and he weaned around 2 years. Exclusive formula is fine too. Fed is best. I just wanted to share that story bc I had seen breastfeeding as all or nothing and it turned out it really wasn't. I'm having trouble following my own advice now bc I had convinced myself that I'd have a full supply this time, but I'll probably end up doing something similar to last time. You are doing a great job, though, and I hope you start to feel less stressed soon.

thinkchocolate05, thank you for sharing that. That really does make me feel better about supplementing. You're right, it does not have to be all or nothing. king26, I've been having the same thoughts about giving up on BFing but I think I'm just going to do what I can. And M went from being the best sleeper to never ever sleeping over the past two days. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Did someone here post about some drops that helped their baby with gas or colic?? I swear I read it somewhere but can't find the post. I'm desperate to try something. M has been a terror the past 2-3 days. Whenever she is awake and not nursing/eating she is screaming. I feel like I'm about to go off the deep end. I'm exhausted and worried about her. Is she in pain?? I'm thinking maybe it's cramps or gas because sometimes the crying eases after she poops. MH made a comment today that she does not seem like a happy baby and it made me feel horrible. Am I doing something wrong? I hate to think she is miserable.

king26 DD slept anywhere but mainly her swing during the day. At 4 months I started having her do one of her naps in the crib and we moved her into a pack n play in our room. These helped I think. Her main issue was being alone. Once we got a stuffed animal with her to fall asleep with she got better. But I would not leave it all night until they are able to move around more. We waited until she was 10 months to let her keep it all night.

violajack that sounds painful! Glad it got a bit better. I nursed D for 8h in one day one day last week and it took my nipples days to recover, esp my leftie. And still it feels rather sensitive.

thinkchocolate05 cwbh928 cali I am sorry you are going thru the same but yes it does make me feel better knowing. I doubt my breastfeeding skills and supply so much and there are 1000 questions, worries and ponderings racing thru my head. I know all babies are different etc but reading how you all try and deal with things is really helpful.

happyfeet9 you are supermom! Kudos to you EP/BF the twins - such an enormous endeavour but you are rocking it! Also i been meaning to ask.. how exactly does EP work? Do you pump on a schedule but feed on demand? Or pump and feed on schedule? Or? I have been wondering whether EP (or maybe with a cple of nursing sessions too as I really dont want to miss out on that) is the way to go for us even if tis just for a little while so we have more of a clue how much is actually eating..which would help with feeling less freaked out about her weight too i think.

king26 both are in size 1 diapers and in 0-3 month clothing. D is wearing some 3 month clothes. They are 5 weeks. E likes to be swaddled arms out, D swaddled with arms in. Stupid question perhaps but what is the bonus of swaddling without arms in? Does the tighter fit comfort then as well? D. seemed to like being swaddles when she was littler still but grew out of it? Now she cant stand having her arms locked on place. Sadly, cause I swear she keeps herself awake with all the arm flapping she does sometimes. I tried one arm in one out yesterday but that wasn't a succes either.

thinkchocolate05 thank you for sharing your BFing experience with DS1. I think that while I rationally know BFing isn't all or nothhing but can be combined with formula just fine, emotionally I am not there. cali king26 I too have thought about tossing the BFing towel but I really don't want to. So I keep telling myself to just take things one day - or sometimes even half a day heh - at a time. It is so rough and like I wrote earlier I have a 1000 worries questions concerns and ponderings and sometimes feel stuck in a vicious circle.. but it has to get better at some point.. or at least where I feel less insecure and confused?! cali I honestly think M and D are likely going thru some kind of phase.. likely a growth spurt which is behind their clingyness and endless demand to be nursed. I am sorry M too dropped on the growth scale but - and I keep telling myself this too - that doesn't mean we are bad mothers or failing or anything. I am positive some babies just need a little more time - just like their mamas.

king26 we have Hero baby nutrasense 1. I haven't needed formula to supplement these past days as suddenly I started pumping enough to be able to use just BM to supplement. We give her 2-3 bottles a day extra with 1-2oz a bottle. We feel that even tho I BF on demand she still gives hunger cues rather often so decided to give her some more in her bottles to see whether that makes a difference. She now usually guzzles down 2oz a bottle.

I know i read about them as well as I googled to see whether they were available here, but don't remember in which thread either nor who all were talking about them 😊 D has had cramps almost daily too and I am just at a loss what to do about them. She seems to have one bad bout of cramps a day and often has a big poop diaper (or two) not long after. I wonder whether there is anything I could do different as well..

cali they are mylicon drops My pediatrician told us to get them because J has painful has that wakes him up. I think they helo, at least for a little while and he takes them easily. Yeah I keep telling myself I'll BF until 12 weeks, until he gets his shots, until 6 weeks, now I'm like maybe until he is a month. He's super fussy today and last night which isn't helping any of us. Maybe these babies are all in a growth sport? Whatever it is, it sucks.

I think it's a growth spurt for most of our babies. A wants to be held and fed all the time the last couple days and fussy when not sleeping or eating. Today he seems better, even though we've disrupted our normal "schedule" to leave the house for a couple hours.
All of you mamas are doing great! Hang in there, I'm sure things will calm down a bit soon. But only to prepare us for the next fussy stage. 😆

So my left nipple has gotten so sore to where nursing is almost too painful. I can nurse for a few minutes but no where near as long as I or D want to. I give her that boob first so she drinks the most eagerly andI hope this helps get the most out of that boob as possible before I have to switch sides. O hate the thought is this hurting my supply .. I know i can pump instead but wonder: should i nurse just on the right then pump both sides or pump just left or? Or should I continue to nurse on the left as long as i can handle (and pump after nursing) or skip nursing that side altogether till it stops being painful? I don't want to end up with uneven supply so to speak by one boob decreasing or increasing supply.

I have nursed with babies in carriers while walking around plenty, but it requires a lot more head control. It starts to work around 3-4 months.

I don't want to end up with uneven supply so to speak by one boob decreasing or increasing supply. So when my right boob hurt so badly I just fed on my left and pumped on my right and let him BF on righty once a day bc that was all I could take, Painwise. It worked for us, idk if it was the right way though. Sometimes after he finished nursing on the left I'd pump on the left to see if there was anything leftover. violajack omg ouch. I'm so sorry. I'm glad it didn't get to the point of mastitis. Sounds similar to what happened to my right boob a few weeks ago and pumping, hot compresses, hot showers, and massaging the crap out of it helped a ton. muscari cali king26 @ everyone. You are all doing awesome and babies are doing great and I understand everyone's stress - I'm so sorry! N is being really fussy every evening lately and it's so exhausting bc he just wants to be held and walked around in circles. happyfeet9 yoshijo (i think?) and anyone else who is exclusively pumping- how do you do it? I've started to EP just to give my nipples a break from the pain and itchiness Id feel while nursing and I'm trying to do it q3/q4 but at night it's so hard if he goes five hours, I want to sleep dammit. Do I need to wake myself up to pump? Last night I was so tired I pumped at 9, then skipped the 12am pump even though he ate already pumped milk bc I was so tired, DH let me sleep, and didn't pump til 4am- holy hell my boobs hurts. how do I balance sleep and constant pumping if he's giving me a random 5hr stretch? cali what class is it? If I took it, I may have old study guides or something to help? I can't imagine studying and being a mom right now. You are super woman!

I'm sorry M is being so cranky, I have been feeling the same way here and have mentioned a few times here that my baby is so damn fussy but it sounds like so many of us are dealing with it that at least I don't feel like it's just my baby.

yoshijo I am exclusively pumping so I have a hands free pumping bra (medela brand from amazon) and feed the babies the milk I pumped before. They are both propped on a twinsie pillow (looks like a double nursing pillow) and I will stop intermittently to pace and burp each of them.
