As long as there is a open spot they will take him any time. IDK why but I don't want to do that. I want him to start with everyone and not be "behind" which probably isn't even a concern in preschool. Idk. depending on when he trains I might just wait until next year. I really think he'd be fine starting whenever. To me the socialization aspect is the most important piece of preschool, vs the academics. Bradley had kids start 'late' both years he's been enrolled. And thats the main reason I want him to start so badly. So you are right. It's just something I need to deal with myself. Like all the things guster mentioned is where my mind is going. And they do a letter, number, shape, color and animal each month. If he starts in January, he'll miss the first 4 months of those. I'm also afraid of him getting bored. He's so smart and I don't want his mind to get bored and that result in behavior issues so he should start as soon as he can.

I want him to start with everyone and not be "behind" which probably isn't even a concern in preschool. Idk. depending on when he trains I might just wait until next year. I get it. Josie started her twos program in November because they wouldn't take her until she was officially two. She started her threes program on time in September, but had some terrible separation anxiety issues in October and didn't go back in till almost January. I saw no difference in how she, her peers or her teachers handled her not being in the class with everyone from the beginning, but I had a harder time with it because I felt like she missed things like celebrating her birthday with her classmates or not completing certain projects that they do on a monthly basis. When we got her end-of-the-year art and writing portfolios, there were a lot of blank pages. If I can step away from that idea, it is helpful because i can see that it didn't change how she dealt with the socialization or the academic piece of it, but I understand how that that is easier said than done. Same for H. She didn't start until after her birthday last year because she had to be 3. She still loved it and I feel like she would have missed out on more if I'd waited until this fall.

@peach, the socialization piece was the key for me, too. I don't see any deficiency because Josie hadn't had full years in preschool. Because it's happened twice, I'm actually a little nervous the same thing is going to happen again this year, but I feel a lot calmer with the idea that if she has to take a break and only complete 3/4 or 1/2 of the year, she'll be fine in both social and academic elements.

I really think he's going to be fine whenever he starts, peachsmama. They do new themes and stuff but at this age it's not like the knowledge is so vast you need a well if it to draw from, KWIM? So if next month they're doing the solar system, he's going to learn all about it and if he doesn't know the names of the planets or whatever and the other kids do, NBD. He'll learn it at that time. They keep them so busy at this age I think there's little chance of them getting bored.

@xolastinicornxo nope. Not much storage. My old house had a HUGE walk in pantry. Luckily we decluttered a LOT. There's room in the kitchen for an island so I'm buying an island cart from wayfair. Oh! Plus! My washer is filling up with water and it leaked onto the floor and I didn't notice until it leaked into my kitchen.

Cadence wrote a letter A yesterday from memory. This is a huge step for us. I think now that her friends have moved up to the pre-k class she is really trying to get her letters down so she can go too. (her friends don't necessarily know the letters, it is just what I've told her is needed in order to move up).

peachsmama, C started at his preschool in January last year. He was totally fine. Like guster said, there were some holes in his portfolio but it wasn't a big deal. I would get him in whenever he is trained.

You should post pics in group of the new house! I love looking at peoples houses, especially when the ones out here all so cookie cutter!

Both kids were up at 5 so they were miserable grouches this morning.
Melatonin just helps them fall asleep, right? It won't help them sleep later, I'm guessing?

I wouldn't worry about starting him after the "first day". The programs are ongoing and very repetitive at most preschools. Preschool is still focused on more socialization than anything.

Morning ladies, i'm waiting on others to get some things done at work so I can do the next step in things. Until they do that I am at a standstill. So I order 2 new swim suits on amazon while I wait. peachsmama, sorry he didn't train in time. Like others said, it shouldn't be an issue starting him whenever. Ad he will get a little more transition attention if it isn't at a time when the whole class transitions. cagoldi, did A sleep in today?

It might help with sleeping longer if they are just off. I think it helps you fall asleep and you get a "full night's sleep". Like with traveling if you need to go to sleep earlier you can take it and you will fall asleep earlier and wake up at the appropriate adjusted time.

melaniesue, I read that like, "OMG 2 drawers!?", but then I thought about my kitchen and we have 2 regular size drawers and two small drawers and it seems to be fine! I guess we do have another "junk drawer" on the other side of the kitchen though too. I can't remember, did you buy or are you guys renting?

wineallthetime we are renting. I wish we were in a position to buy. It's that down payment that is stalling us. @cagoldie for us M wakes up earlier. Today she was up st 5:38 😭 but going to bed is so easy.

DC has now changed the playground times and ball crawl times so Cadence doesn't get to see any of her friends any more. Jerks.

How she didn't get to see E, or R or ....and on down the list. At least next week her dance class starts back up and she'll be back with some of them for that!

Morning time.. the week before vacation always goes to slowest. Naturally a cold front is coming and no days above 80 next week in the forecast, which hopefully will be nice, but I'm a little worried it will be too cold to swim.
J moves classes after we get back and I'm struggling with gifts. The assistant teacher is super cute (and the love of J's life)and I want to get her a Pure Barre GC since I know she goes there, but they don't do online GC and I don't know which studio she goes to. I know I've discussed soul cycle with her, but cannot remember if she likes it, gah.
And then not sure what to get the lead teacher. I suck at this. He basically saved my sanity this year, so feel like a decent gift is in order. He errs on the flamboyant side, but not sure what his interests are besides his cat and political views.
And I'll bring cupcakes or donuts for the assistants/student teachers as well.

cagoldi in my experience the melatonin only helps to fall asleep. I find that S sleeps later on nights she goes to sleep earlier. I put her to bed between 8-8:30 every night. On the nights she falls asleep right away, she will sleep till 6:30 or so. On the nights she rolls around and acts a fool for 45 minutes she tends to wake earlier, like 5:30 or 6.

I thought about that but Dude stays in bed until I get him so I don't know what good it would do. I just need them both to feel better and selfishly, I'd like to do a little more of a workout before they are up. I go for my walk at 5. I get back at 5:45 so Pete can go to work. If they could sleep until 6:15 - 6:30 I think that would be ideal.

Hi there! I am looking at all the options for B's ballet for the upcoming season. I am looking at a different program to what we did last year. And I am a little over all the costs, but I know she loves it. So bye bye money. MH seems to think its worth it. What's the new program and how much does it cost?

klong11 poor girl. I hope the time goes quickly. Is she upset or just kind of matter of fact about it? No, she's upset. And yesterday they took the 2 kids she will play with and put them in the pre-k class due to ratios. Her teacher says Cadence is getting really jealous if she pays attention to any of the new kids and that she has started bossing them around and telling them she isn't their friend. It really hasn't been a good transition for her.

Bradley had kids start 'late' both years he's been enrolled. peachsmama I agree with this. The kids are definitely more adaptable than we give them credit for sometime. They have very little concept of time so starting in Jan instead of September really means nothing to them. Eta: way late, i see all of this has been covered
