I re-did my speed interval workout last night, using the right distances. With LO in the stroller for the first half. I'm hella proud that I hit my targeted times for each speed interval, and overall came close to the same average min/mile as my treadmill workout (8:45 on the tread vs. 9:04 last night)!

I missed the start of the run streak, but I think I'm going to jump in now anyway. I have fallen off the training wagon, but in the last couple of weeks I got a few miles done on the trail, a 2 mile run in Gatlinburg for one night (ran the length of the downtown tourist area. I've never scared so many people while running before, whoops), and 4.5 yesterday, split b/w 2 miles outside during my lunch and 2.5 on the treadmill last night.
I still have 7 8 weeks of training before my trail half, so I'm not super worried. But I do have a 10k this Saturday and I'd really like to beat last year's time.

Anybody buy anything exciting on Black Friday? My new Hoka One One Torrents are being delivered today, will take them for a jog tomorrow morning.
Still doing 2km loops but going to do 5km this weekend. And then next weekend is the Ugly Sweater Run.

loveswaffles, I bought a new pair of Mizuno wave inspire on Cyber Monday that should be here today too! Also, my first order from Oiselle was out of stock (the firecracker crop in the lightening print), but they had the paisley print in stock during their 25% off sale over the weekend. I really liked the lightening print better, but I love that I saved an additional 10% (from the new member discount) and got free shipping. Should be here next week!

I should have bought some running stuff, but alas, I did not. Amazon carries my running shoes for $45 though, so until they stop being cheap or sold I'm pretty set there

4 miles on the treadmill last night.
Any tips on calibrating my garmin? My VA3 watch is off like by .1 or so for 95% of my treadmill runs. I tried doing a mile at a time last night and it let me do the calibration option for the first miles. I forgot to try to calibrate it for my 2nd mile, and didn't even have the option to calibrate it after my 3rd and 4th miles. Well, a quick google check tells me I probably only get the option to calibrate it if I hit at least 1 mile on my watch. Since my watch was underestimating my distance for miles 2-4, I never hit 1 mile on it before stopping the activity. Live and learn.

I got really frustrated with mine for a bit after a firmware update that caused my distance to be way off. They'll never be 100% on pace with each other 100% of the time. As long as my watch and treadmill are no more than .02 off from each other I don't really mind. I go by my watch since that's the data I get at the end of the run.

So, I did a local 10k on Saturday- I hella beat my time from last year (went 58:14 to 54:50 chip time)!
Omg, though, the beginning could not have been worse. I tried to eat some pb toast when I woke up, but my mouth was too dry. I ended up just having half a gel and some c4 in my car. I left later than I wanted to, then realized when I parked (10 mins before the race!) that I forgot my bib at home! Thankfully I live close to the starting point, so I rushed home and back. I got up to the starting point 5 mins after the gun, as they were taking things down, but they let me start. I had to finish pinning my bib as I was running, and I didn't tie my shoes tight (I have really narrow heels, but I keep my shoes loose til I start a race), so I did the first two miles with loose shoes that ended up giving me a tiny blister.
After all of that it was awesome. Starting at the very, very back (behind the following car even) means you get to pass a lot of people pretty quickly lol. I felt much more comfortable with the faster pace this year (even though last year I went for relatively conservative negative splits); I actually took time to notice stuff around me. I also, most importantly (to me) sill had it in my for a strong final sprint. Last year I had to walk close to the end and barely had a jog in me for the last .2, let alone a sprint. And mh and lo were waiting for me around the corner from the finish line so I got a great high five right from her there and then they popped over to the finish (the course curves back, into a park), where mh yelled out a big "YEAAAHHHH!" for me when I threw my sprint down. I even passed other two women who looked really strong on my way to the finish lol
Secretly, I wasn't just trying to PR. One of his colleagues signed up and I didn't know until a couple of days beforehand, so I also wanted to beat her. If I hadn't had to tie my dumb shoes I would have- we had a 9 second difference.

I also did 2.5 on the trail yesterday. My quads are mildly trashed (the start of race has some mild but long downhill sections), so that was fun. The trail was beautiful though- I think it was too cold so no one else had been out there before me- lots of crunchy leaves all over the path.

sewfi2 my 5k PR is from a race like that - totally slept through my alarm, put my contact in inside out, couldn't find my socks so I ran without them resulting in a huge blister, got to the start line literally as the gun went off..... Probably something about the stress gives you an adrenaline boost that makes you run faster!

5k with the family on Saturday, it ended up raining during the whole race, starting right when the race started, so we ended up doing a lot of walking because the dirt paths were just mud and puddles. It was kind of miserable and I felt bad for our 13yr old dog, who does the race with us every year but hates being wet. So between his age and the rain he was ready to be done (but also not wanting to run).

Did 4.5 slow miles during lunch to shake the soreness out. I think it helped, but I'll for sure be using the massage stick or foam roller later.

I'm plugging right along. I ran 120.5 miles in November and I'll be at 40 for December tomorrow. Very much on track to crush the 1000 mile barrier for the year.
Had a great 8 miler on Saturday. Clipping right along training for Disney.
5k today. Nothing special.
Today was day 197 on my run streak. I can't believe it I haven't missed a day yet!

Did 6km on the weekend and 2.5km this morning. Feels good to be running again.
I joined the strava challenge to do 1000km in 2020, should be a nice challenge.

I only did half of my speed workout last night, got 3.5 miles in. I probably should have given my legs another day to recup from the race though.
