Is this where I confess that S has not been to the dentist yet? I need to schedule her an appointment. But it is 2 hours away. So I haven't gotten around to it yet. But I need to. She doesn't drink much juice but does drink a lot of milk. However, she's never gone to bed with a bottle or sippy cup. So I guess I have that going for me. I am nervous about taking her though. It's important to go just for general dental hygiene, whether you're doing everything right or not. Taking the boy early helped us realize he was predisposed to some of the dental issues MH and I have and forced us to be proactive about it. Schedule an appointment today, they won't make you feel bad. 2 hours sucks though. Isn't there anywhere closer? Even if it's a regular dentist? Lol...as soon as I typed my previous post I looked up the # and called for an appointment. The scheduler was busy at the moment and is supposed to call me back. We have a regular dentist an hour away. But I feel like S will be especially difficult and needs a kid friendly place. She does not sit still....ever. And with her developmental delays, she will not understand a lot about what we are asking her to do. So I figure a kid friendly place would be our best option. And there is a zoo and a mall in the town where the dentist is so we will make a day of it when we go. Zoo to reward her for being a trooper and shopping to reward me for finally taking her. Lol.

My kids LOVE going to the dentist. They are so good for them. Neither of my kids drink milk and they only usually only get juice at restaurants. My dentist actually suggested letting them chew sugar free gum with xylitol after meals bc it helps keeps stuff from sticking to the teeth. Something like that.

I have soft teeth because of having cistern water. We're going to put a purification and fluoride system on ours. Hopefully that helps. But they will most likely have alot of cavities and fillings because of our water. It's 200k to get public water to my house. So that's not happening.. My parents have lousy water at their lake house. They use bottled water for all cooking and drinking. (Bathing and teethbrushing is with tap). Not the most convenient--and of course they're only there 4 months/year--but it's a thought if you think your water will truly be problematic. I don't mess around with teeth bc there are such long term ramifications, beyond just the cavities themselves.

I don't mess around with teeth bc there are such long term ramifications, beyond just the cavities themselves. All of our drinking water is bottled and my mom has a water tank like in an office that we use too. And She gets water from her job because it's dialysis water? Idk. It's like the purest water you can get. Once we look into the systems to add onto our cistern, I'll consider getting a water delivery instead of our of the ground like we use now. Our neighbors get it delivered. I'm not sure the cost on it though. Cheaper than 200K lol. I'm hoping that since when their teeth were coming in, we were on city water, we may have better luck with them. Mine and my brothers, you can pull with your bare hands. I've broken a tooth off in pizza before.

Since we're talking about brushing. Do your kids rinse/spit? I just give them a drink of water after. Never really make them rinse or spit.

Big no to gummy vitamins over here. Both dentist and dr were against it.

We were actually due for dental appts in June (the whole fam) but I haven't made appts yet. Yesterday, out of the blue, H told me she wanted to go to the dentist. She didn't cooperate last time so not sure what brought that about.

I feel like I read something recently about the benefits of not rinsing.

She didn't cooperate last time so not sure what brought that about. Matthew and I are due, and DH. We should just make a family trip and see if Jack will sit for it yet. Matthew surprised us his first time so I'm hopeful Jack will too. Especially if big brother goes first and gets to pick out a new tooth brush. Jack loves his tooth brush.

I bought that tooth paste everyone and their mother is selling on facebook. It actually works! I bought more. But it's weird, you don't get it wet before brushing. Takes some getting used to but I can tell a difference in my teeth after just half a tube.

Dude gets gummy vitamins everyday.
Fruit snacks once a week.
Juice is not something we have at the house.
He gets one cup of milk about 5 days a week.

This - sam thinks going to the dentist is a treat and he's so good there. We went a few weeks ago and he's already asking when he cAn go back Which is great bc I am terrified of the dentist I go to a pediatric dentist and they didn't really ask much about what he eats... just said to try to limit snacking all day bc that stays on his teeth. He eats tons of gummies. But rarely drinks milk, and only gets juice at parties. But gummies are consumed almost daily around here

S can't quite figure out rinsing and spitting, so he just has a sip of water afterwards. It's his favorite part

Cadence loves the dentist. They give her a balloon, a new toothbrush and toothpaste every time. I think she thinks it is just a weird birthday party without cupcakes.

Cher Lol. Just thought you may have had it done. It's a scan we do to rule out blood clots in the lungs. Lol! Oh ok. Then I think I did that scan because they ruled out blood clots in my lungs and they said I can't bf for 24 hours. Does that sound right? This is why MH insists on being in the room with me when I go to the doctor. I don't listen to anything and just do what they say, lol. Yep, sounds right. They may have called it lung perfusion.

I think I'll just pull all of Cadence's teeth now while we're ahead of the game.
