It's 25% juice. It was how I got him away from nursing at night. We're taking it away when they move into their new room. Right now, sleep trumps the need. His dentist wasn't concerned and said his teeth look great. Dude. You need a new dentist if they're okay with juice after brushing teeth. Just saying. Aren't dentist's supposed to be kinda anti juice in general?? I can't imagine a dentist saying juice before bed with no teeth brushing is ok. 25% juice is still drinking sugar. I mean, I said I let C have milk in bed which is also not ok and I'm sure his dentist would not approve, but juice? No way.

I took the other's saying their kid gets a cup of milk at bedtime to be saying they weren't brushing after. Was I wrong? Milk is just as sugary as watered down juice so I am not sure why people are up in arms about peachsmama's thing but not others giving their kid milk? I do agree though that I can't believe the dentist is ok with that. Either milk or juice isn't good to have without a good tooth brushing after.

And it's not like I said the dentist said "great! More juice!" More like it's not having an affect but not a great habit. And again, we're going to work on it. But when we're all sleeping in one room- not the time.

I'm struggling at both work and home. I really need a break. I'm sorry. Is there anyway you can call in sick & stay home to have a relaxing day? Not the next few weeks.

I'm trying to get Cadence off of it, and like I said she did fine while we were on vacay, but back at home she expects it. I put less in the cup and she screams for more. I would like to get her off sippy cups entirely, but she tends to spill other cups no matter how many times we say they stay at the table. We've tried the 360s and she says they are broken and can't get the liquid out.

The sitter switched him to regular cups and the world just about came crashing down around him. Boy is such a creature of habit. I don't like cleaning up spills so I haven't switched at home.

I was confused how watered-down juice at bedtime was any worse than milk. Colin's dentist was pretty chill in general, but gummies kept coming up over and over. Just say no, apparently!

joelies , like gummy vitamins or fruit snacks? Fruit snacks, for the most part. She sees gummy vitamins as a necessary evil but was clear that he should brush thoroughly afterwards. What seemed odd was that they actually came right out and said if kids are going to have a treat, that things like ice cream and chocolate are far better since they melt and/or wash away from teeth easier. It just came off kind of odd since they were so adamantly against gummies.

I won't lie, we are less than consistent with it. MH doesn't do it at all, says he "can't" and Cadence can't do it well by herself, so of course, it falls into my lap. I guess I'll work it into our mornings when I'm doing her hair and I'm running late, as per usual. Blah.

My sister had to have a root canal at 2 or 3 thanks to bedtime-milk; my mom said she felt like the worst parent in the world and after that took a pretty militant approach to teeth brushing. I'm fairly hard-line with our kids, too.
Our dentist gave me a list of good, so-so, and bad snacks...even stuff you'd think would be ok like pretzels, for example, was on the "bad" list (meaning you should eat it less frequently). That surprised me but it's a combination of the sugar, plus the fact that it can easily stick in the pockets and grooves in between your teeth and cause problems. There were also some things on the "good" list that were surprising to me, too.
I'm not as uptight about snacks, b/c we do do a good job of brushing and flossing. And fortunately B seems to prefer water to any other beverage, with milk in second and juice in a distant third.

I was only giving M gummy vitamins after dinner & then we'd brush her teeth. The dentist said he doesn't even recommend that and to get the chewable vitamins.

Cher Lol. Just thought you may have had it done. It's a scan we do to rule out blood clots in the lungs. Lol! Oh ok. Then I think I did that scan because they ruled out blood clots in my lungs and they said I can't bf for 24 hours. Does that sound right? This is why MH insists on being in the room with me when I go to the doctor. I don't listen to anything and just do what they say, lol.

The boy's dentist sounds like flamingo's. He's pretty strict on snacks. He doesn't want kids to have flavored yogurt. He prefers plain yogurt and add your own fruit in. Hard snacks like pretzels are a treat. Fruit snacks are the devil. But he is allowed on occasion. Basically because I bought a giant box at Costco and I'm working through it. He drinks out of regular cups (except at night) at his dentist's suggestion. We do primarily water. He's allowed one non-water drink a day. He usually has a watered down cup of OJ with breakfast, but I also offer milk or an Honest juice box. His choice, but once he has it, no mas. Water for the rest of the day. We don't eat or bring non-water drinks to the second floor so, luckily, he doesn't realize that something other than water can be potentially consumed at bedtime. He brushes twice a day (at least) and flosses pretty regularly. I confess that I'm a stickler about this stuff but he got a cavity when he was younger. The dentist said he sees it in kids who bf in the middle of the night and then slept with milk on their teeth. MH and I both have bad teeth and I know that's genetic. Watching my Then little toddler freak out while getting a cavity filled was absolutely heartbreaking. So I have taken a hard line with this stuff since then. I'm pretty easy going about a lot of things but I'll admit I'm Pearl clutchy about dental hygiene. DNW to have to hold him down while they do a filling again.

Is this where I confess that S has not been to the dentist yet? I need to schedule her an appointment. But it is 2 hours away. So I haven't gotten around to it yet. But I need to. She doesn't drink much juice but does drink a lot of milk. However, she's never gone to bed with a bottle or sippy cup. So I guess I have that going for me. I am nervous about taking her though.

We just went Tuesday for the first time, and there were a couple places we could go within half an hour. Chase already has his first appointment scheduled for when Colin goes back in 6 months. They were fine about him not coming until he's almost 2, and I'm hopeful that he'll have most of his teeth by then.

lfig I haven't taken E yet. I even bought her a book about going to the dentist so she would know what to expect, but I know she will hate it. And there are regular and pediatric dentists all over the place around here, so I guess I should get on that.

I have soft teeth because of having cistern water. We're going to put a purification and fluoride system on ours. Hopefully that helps. But they will most likely have alot of cavities and fillings because of our water. It's 200k to get public water to my house. So that's not happening..

It's important to go just for general dental hygiene, whether you're doing everything right or not. Taking the boy early helped us realize he was predisposed to some of the dental issues MH and I have and forced us to be proactive about it. Schedule an appointment today, they won't make you feel bad. 2 hours sucks though. Isn't there anywhere closer? Even if it's a regular dentist?
