Thank you for sharing this! My book club is named Book It! and we met last night. We ordered several personal pan pizzas and did use the code to get one for free, so that was fun. Our book this month was The God of the Woods, which I enjoyed, but most of the other members were just meh about, and we did sorta tear it apart in our discussion so now I'm thinking it wasn't as good as I thought it was lol. I'm currently reading All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whittaker, which I also heard mixed reviews on, but I'm loving it. My last book was The Perfect Son by Freida McFadden, and it was so terrible, mainly because the writing itself is so terrible, that I was really needing a well-written book after that, and this fills the bill. I do try to read some spooky books in Oct., but the new kindle request limits on library books is really affecting me. I had 13 books requested when the 10 book limit went into place, and I'm only down to 11 at this point with long wait times on all of them, but I don't want to cancel my holds and forget to re-request them.

Bookshops and Bonedust, Travis Baldree - Super cute, if you liked Legends and Lattes can't imagine you won't like this. I kind of want to reread L&L now with the prequel knowledge. I agree. If I didn't have so many books on my TBR, I would pick it up and read it again. I loved the epilogue so much and I hope he continues the series.

Today I read Ushers by Joe Hill. It was a short story I grabbed off of Amazon First Reads. It was meh. I expect better from him. Heart Shaped Box was pretty good. I read that back in college. Also, heβs Stephen Kingβs son with a pen name, if you didnβt know. I'm literally listening to Heart Shaped Box right now and loving it so much. I had no idea it was his son!!!! Love that even more

I just read Foul Days by Genoveva Dimova which has a sequel coming out this month and it was a very fun little fantasy witch novel. It had links to Slavic mythology and lots of great monsters. It wasn't particularly deep but it was a great rainy day read and I think lots of you might enjoy it.

I just finished listening to Local Woman Missing. It's not new but has been on my list a while and I needed a listen. It was really terrible, lol.
I have All the Colors of the Dark next on deck, but I also kind of want something a little gothic for Halloween. Considering Rebecca, which I have never read. Any other suggestions? I don't really like "horror" but I do like creepy.

Did I post about what I read in September? I donβt remember so Iβm going to again. I only finished 3 books but thatβs fine with me. I am currently reading The Ashes & Star Cursed King. After that I am either going to read When The Moon Hatched or Gild.

September was a pretty good month for books, I loved all of them in their own individual ways. I am a HUGE Sharon McMahon fan but I will say that her book is wonderful for everyone, even if you don't normally read nonfiction/history. She writes it like a narrative nonfiction and breaks the fourth wall a lot. I loved it.

I can't believe my luck! My loan returned for A Discovery of Witches, but the wait times are so long and I was trying to find a way to finish it. Kobo has the entire trilogy on sale today for $2.99! YASSSS.

Here was my September: It was a good reading month. I loved The Naturals series. I'm in the middle of Pumpkin Spice Cafe and it's very hallmark cute. I've also started In the Woods by Tana French and am halfway through A Discovery of Witches. I haven't fully gotten into Queen of Shadows, taking a small Sarah J Maas break.

I finished The Monsters We Defy and liked it a lot. Perfect for October! Historical fiction/ mystery, talking to spirits, magical ring heist, mind control, charms and tricks

I didn't love The Ninth House. The premise was super interesting, but it just draaaaagged on and I found myself not caring about the outcome.
I am listening to The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, but I don't think it is what I want either.
I just started Falling this morning (which may not be the best idea since I am flying across country this Friday) and I have a bunch of books that have come in on my kindle from the library.

Then I wasn't interested in anything on my list so I started a memoir instead. They're my favorite fiction palate cleanser. Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come: One Introvert's Year of Saying Yes. I'm about 40% in and really enjoying it.

I finished So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison and it wasn't my favourite of hers, I just didn't like the main characters woe is me, self-pity party.

I started listening to Sundown Motel by Simone St James, I've seen it highly recommended so π€
I didn't love the first book I read of hers (The Haunting of Maddy Clare), it was more love story than anything and I hate romance lol

I started Invisible Women about the data bias against women, but I can't seem to get my head into a nonfiction right now.

Last week I read Black Sheep and it was a delightful dark read. Iβm looking forward to more by her.
I also read The Third Gilmore Girl which I thought was really good. I think listening to Kelly Bishop made it even better because I love Emily Gilmore.
Lastly, I just finished Midnight is the Darkest Hour and I really like it. I just hate how it ended. I NEED CLOSURE. 4 stars, wouldβve been higher with an epilogue.

I finished The Devil Made Me Brew It by Sarah Piper and it was a delightful read!
I'm 82% of the way through Dawn of the Cursed Queen. It's so long for a book that is really just setting up for the finale. I just want to finish it. Gah.

I read Hawk Mountain by Conner Habib and wow. That was an intense read. I couldn't put it down though! I'd be interested in the psychology behind the main character. It wouldn't have fit in the story but it would be cool to know, lol

My last few reads have all started strong and then let me down majorly as the book progressed. I am trying to decide what to read next that will hopefully break the 2-3 star book streak!
Last few reads: The Briar Club - first Kate Quinn I've read that I haven't adored! The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store - too many side characters with complicated back stories that seemed to go nowhere with a really rushed ending The Whispers by Ashley Audrain - I struggled to get into it, it got better, and then the ending seemed to be a twist with zero reason or resolution.

I finished Finding Baby Holly. It was interesting but felt choppy. The author talks about faith and religion a lot so some readers might be turned off. 4 stars.
I started Inheritance by Dani Shapiro because my hold was ready. I'm not sure I have the right frame of mind to enjoy it yet.

I just finished Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay. I had some issues with a few plot holes/details but overall that was a really good thriller read. A page turner for sure and kept my interest

I have no idea what to read next.
I finished JT Ellisonβs A Very Bad Thing earlier this week and no. It was engaging and twisty but the epilogue ruined the whole thing for me. Went from a 4 star read to a 2. Iβve worked my way through my backlog for the year and now I have no idea whatβs next. Iβve read some great things in 2024 but overall itβs been kind of lackluster with not much coming out in the Sep-Dec range.

I just realized I never checked in. I had a decent but slower month for September. I read 11 books. Favorites were I Can Fix This, Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books, and You Will Never Be Me. Least favorite was House of Glass.

I've read 4 books so far in October.
First was The Grandest Game, which i thought was supposed to be the 5th book of The Inheritance Games series but now looks like it's more of a spinoff with more books to come. I'm honestly over these books, I loved The Inheritance Games but the rest have been pretty meh and this one was the same for me. 3 stars and I won't be reading any of the additional books that come out.
The I finally finished Tangled Up in You by Christina Lauren, the 4th in the Meant to Be series. These are Disney spinoffs all each written by different authors. This one was fine, I wasn't sure how they would do this story and I thought they did a decent job but it wasn't at the same level I expect from their books. I did noticed the 5th book is going to be the Mulan version and Jesse Q Sutano is writing it so I'm very excited for that since she's one of my favorite authors.
I read Freida McFadden's newest, The Boyfriend, and gave it 4 stars. Typical Freida, but at little better than her other recent books for me.
Yesterday I finished what You Leave Behind and really enjoyed it. 4 stars.
Currently reading The Reaping by Jess Lourey and listening to Haunted Ever After by Jen Deluca. I loved her ren-faire series and 8m excited for this new paranormal series.
