Morning.
I'm home today because the kids and I have dentist appointments. Mine is much earlier than theirs so I have free time before and after my appointment before I have to go get them and go back. Took advantage for nice, uninterrupted brick workout after everyone else was out of the house.
5 minute warm up ride with Jess King 30 minute Halloween ride with Ben 5 minute cool down ride with Ben 20 minute Halloween run with Susie 10 minute stretch with Robin
No yoga tonight. Tuesdays are difficult. Food should be on point, assuming I can avoid ordering myself ice cream this afternoon. There's an ice cream shop literally across the street from our dentist, so we always get post appointment scoops. I really need to keep my eating tight and not order anything for myself.

My MIL has the kids this week, so H and I took advantage of a rare night time run. 5k followed by beers.

A 5 mile tempo run (kept it high zone 3, low zone 4) for me today at almost exactly a 10:00/mile pace. It felt good to run faster for a long time since most of my speed work lately has been shorter intervals. I’m definitely feeling stronger and I’m setting my sights on that sub 1 hour 10k for next summer’s race series 😎

Getting back in here after a rough two weeks. My 6 yo, who is asthmatic, had pneumonia and ended up in the hospital for 5 days. He was on high flow oxygen for a while and it was terrifying. I barely slept or ate while I stayed with him and even though we've been home for a few days now and I'm back to work I'm struggling to get my energy and appetite back. Not terrible for weight loss, but I need to find a better balance so I can get active again.
My big kid has soccer tomorrow night so I'm going to try to early vote at the polling place close to his practice. Hoping it's not too crowded so that I'll have time to walk after.

I'm so sorry to hear about your DS. DD2 did three days in the hospital when she was an infant with flu A and rsv and it was awful. I'm sorry you went through that. DD1 just got diagnosed with pneumonia last night. It is tearing through here in record numbers. I had to go to multiple pharmacies last night to find one that had the meds in stock.

I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. LOL I seem to be starting to get a handle on the nerve stuff but now I'm dealing with a possible thumb strain and no idea how that happened. Can I trade my body in for a younger model? Hoping to squeeze in my workout later before an afternoon call.

Squats today which went really well but I’m most excited about accessories because my assisted chin ups etc have been going so well I decided to try real push ups today, instead of incline pushups. (In the dark corner of the gym between 2 machines so nobody could see if it was a sad attempt 😅). I did 3!!!!
(Ignoring the fact that sets were supposed to be done to 3 in reserve 🤣)
Anyway I’ll be riding that high today

Got chest and back done with a 30 min recovery pace run. Thumb doesn't feel great but I'm hoping some babying for a few days and immobilizing it at night will help.
On the plus side, I've been using some nTOS exercises for the nerve stuff and I'm finally seeing some progress!

Her classes were brutal when she peaked going into Tokyo too. I can only imagine the crazy going on in her brain right now only weeks out from the Great World Race. But yeah, fuck, that class.

Oof my legs are sore from squat day yesterday, I did good with water but slacked on protein. Today was busy but got on the treadmill (it’s like the 3rd straight day of 20 mph winds with gusts over 35) for 4 miles. 🥵 it’s been a long time since I was on the treadmill and whoa the sweat.

6 miles today in that gross heavy wet snow. Because Midwest. Y’all it was 75° 2 days ago 😒 The good news is that I somehow managed to wear the perfect amount of layers so I wasn’t too hot or too cold. I guess I didn’t completely block out last winter’s runs.

Got in a 25 minute walk with a friend at school today, then 45 minutes walking around the neighborhood trick or treating. Food was snackier today and I had a handful on candy, but I was probably still close to macros (didn't track carefully today).
I'm really struggling with intense fatigue since our stay in the hospital last week. I'm usually a night owl but I'm passing out early (for me) and fighting so hard against exhaustion throughout the day. I even took a nap for about 1.5 hours this afternoon which I never do and I'm still tired. I always have a hard time recovering after periods of minimal sleep and this was an extreme stretch so I'm hoping by next week I'll be back on track. I did start anxiety meds in the past two weeks also, so I'm wondering if that's part of it (I take them in the evening).
