I was home today with a sick kid, and I'm proud of my day. Food was planned and in check and I balanced moving around getting stuff done and snuggling on the couch.
I took the big kid to soccer and got in 27 minutes of walking/running. I did one mile of intervals where I ran probably .85 miles of it. It felt pretty good, except that my heel is KILLING me now. I have plantar fasciitis that was badly aggravated over the summer with sandals and less supportive footwear and it's been plaguing me since. The running definitely caused it to flare tonight and it's the worst it has felt in a while. I just iced it and I'm hoping it will feel better in the morning.
Do you have a foam roller? Rolling my calves and stretching my feet were the only things that relieved mine. Now when I feel it coming on, I'm diligent about foam rolling and so far I've kept it at bay.

30 minute hip hop ride with Jess King and a 5 minute stretch. Yoga tonight. I've been sleeping in all week and doing shorties after work to try and prevent myself from going all out for my morning hour and to make sure I'm well rested for Sunday. I'm excited!

Rest day yesterday. Tonight was a 6 mile easy run that didn’t feel easy lol. I made the mistake of taking a nap and I woke up feeling like I’d been in a coma after 3 hours. Whoops. So I had to immediately jump out of bed and go for my run because otherwise I wouldn’t have made it back before the sun went down. My brain and my body definitely were not on the same page.
Upper press in the weight room. It’s always my least favorite day but had my first “say whaaaat” moment (idk what else to call it lol). I had finished Z press and went to do assisted pull ups and man they moved like butter. I stopped to check twice to see if I added more assistance than I thought but nope. Just that strong today 🤷🏻♀️. Usually I use anywhere from 50-60 lbs but today I used 45 (40 not an option). after my workout I went back to see what I could get down to and I did one with only 20 lbs of help! 🤯🤩
No exercise today. My younger son took a turn last night and I ended up home with him this morning to take him to the doctor and he has pneumonia. He's an allergy/asthma kid so lower respiratory stuff always ramps my anxiety so I didn't leave his side until H and I switched midday so I could go in to school for a bit.
Food was okay, we got takeout for dinner because it was soccer practice for the big kid but good choices otherwise. I stepped on the scale tonight because H had it in the kitchen to weigh a package and I'm down 3 lbs from the last time I checked a few weeks ago. Not much, but nice to see it doing something besides standing still or increasing.

Ugh, I'm sorry about your DS. Hopefully it resolves quickly and he's back to being his usual spunky self soon enough.

On Thursday I did a 20 minute total body strength and a 10 minute arms. Rest day yesterday. No Wilpers live ride this morning, so I did Denis’ most recent 60 minute PZE and a 10 minute focus flow for runners with Mariana after.

A 10 mile long run for me today. I tried out some new gels. The Edge ones are awful. Oh my god. Also my headphones died around mile 6. That was the longest last 4 miles of my life. I’ve run that long without music before but something about it being unexpected and at the end of a long run was just torture.
Done! 2:09:48! I wanted to be around the 2:10 mark, so that was perfect. I ran the whole thing except the water stations, which I always walk because I can't drink and run. I also took three 30 second walk breaks in the last mile because it's entirely uphill, which I knew, but was still rough. I built a nice time base for the first four miles, cruises until mile 9,then pulled back until the last two miles when I picked it back up. I feel excellent about how I managed to execute my race despite not hitting all the long training runs I wanted.
I did get passed by the sag cart in the last half mile, honking and flashing lights. Turns out someone collapsed. They had him on the ground right at the 13 mile mark performing CPR. I don't know that I've ever actually seen CPR in real life up close like that. They had him RIGHT THERE on the path, in plain view of every runner coming into the finish chute. I definitely said "oh fuck" loud enough to likely be heard. I hope he ends up being ok. Absolutely terrifying.
Does anyone take creatine? GhoatMonket I think you're a fan? It keeps popping up in my social medial that women who lift weights should take creatine. I lift in the morning and am thinking about adding 3-5 g before I go to the gym. My goal is lean muscle and I do NOT want to bulk. Thoughts? There seems to be some cognitive benefit to creatine as well, but I think probably more studies need to be done?

Everyone should be a fan and everyone should take it. It is by far one of the most studied supplements and provides benefit.
Zero need to load. That isn't how it helps. It helps with recovery. Bulking comes from your food intake. Namely carbs. Adding lean muscle is bulking. And you will put on a small amount of body fat with that. That's how it works.

There is zero need to megadose.
So just a small scoop in water before I work out? Or after, or just anytime during the day? I got flavored bc.. idk, just what I grabbed. Sorry is that what "loading" means? Taking before workout?
FB politely reminded me that 11 years ago today I ran the same half marathon, but with my husband and one of our best friends. And six years ago today I set my still standing 5k PR of 24:34. Fun times.

Creatine is built up over time- taking it before a workout does nothing- but it will tomorrow once there is saturation.
Loading is when people are taking 20g+ daily. Check your label, but most are 5g which is sufficient. I put mine in my coffee because then I won't forget it.
I did 5.17 miles on Friday, strength work on Saturday morning, and 7 miles yesterday. I'm still sore from Saturday (mostly just in my upper body), not sure what I'll do today. Breakfast is a chocolate-berry-spinach protein smoothie (and creatine lol), lunch is likely going to be leftovers from yesterday (rotisserie chicken, roasted broccoli, mashed potatoes), dinner is going to be chicken sausage with cabbage and onions.
The race posted the link to official results and someone commented on it asking about the guy who was in cardiac arrest. Thankfully the race very openly answered, saying he was revived and doing well, and would provide a real update pending the discretion of the family. I planned on commenting to ask, so I was happy to see someone beat me to it. It absolutely weighed on me all day. I'm so grateful he's going to be ok. Absolutely awful.

Perfect, thanks! I took it yesterday and drank it this am before working out. If I do it while walking out the door I probably won't forget. I don't do any other supplements so we'll see! The science is pretty strong!
