Nothing much this weekend for me. I volunteered at a free woman’s health event Saturday for 10 hours. It was so awesome but woof I have not been on my feet that long in QUITE some time. 😅
Today was deadlifts/bench. I’m still 2-3 months ahead of where I was last year on main lifts. Accessory continues to kick ass (prob because im actually loading them heavy now) and happy to report my upper body gainz from last week are still there 💪🏻

Congrats on the race cnf! Something similar happened at the summer race I did with DD3. Someone collapsed and they were just performing CPR right off the sidewalk. I was trying to get DD not to look because I didn’t want her to freak out but they were just right there. It’s such a weird feeling because the empathetic human in me wants to stop and make sure they’re okay but that would just make things worse if we all did that. Obviously the medical professionals were there. But I felt awful just running by and finishing. Idk. I’m sure you get it! I never did hear what happened and I suppose it’s not my place. I hope he was okay and I hope the person at your race is okay too!

Great race, cnf! Sounds like you executed really well and I can tell you're proud of yourself, which is the best feeling. I'm so glad the runner was revived, how awful. I have definitely had to run past someone getting medical attention on the course and it's scary.

I was signed up to run a half next weekend, but when I hadn't gotten an email about packet pickup over the last week or so I went online to investigate and it has been cancelled! But I never got an email?
I emailed the race organizers to clarify and I got the weirdest response this morning. It hasn't been cancelled it has been moved to 2025...but they cancelled the half marathon portion and now it's a triathlon.
Anyway so I guess I'll stick with the training plan I've been on until the Disneyland half in early February.... Just so weird.

So glad the runner is ok, cnf! It’s always scary to see someone go down. I did Sam Yo’s 30 minute Motown ride this morning, and then had a PT session. I’ve ordered a new pair of Mizuno Wave Inspires so I can (hopefully) ease back into running. I have a plan from my PT that eases back in through intervals. Once I can get a little distance in, my plan is to do brick runs, so I can train on tired legs without putting as much strain on my ankle. Basically, trying to build up running fitness level while still being cautious about mileage. Of course, I see my doctor in Thursday, and hopefully this doesn’t all blow up when she looks at the tendon via ultrasound.

Creatine day 3 Yoga/pilates/HIIT/mace class this am. Then I decided that wasn't enough and I went to a Les Mills Strength and Development class. It's an awesome weightlifting class if your gym offers it. I love it but it doesn't totally work with my schedule. I'm trying to make it fit and go 2x week. I.am.whipped.

Chiro wants to change up the exercise he has me doing to something else, it did seem to make some difference in the office today. He wants me to monitor the symptoms going down my arm to determine if I've overdone exercise or not, but can still keep going for now.

Got out for 3.5 miles today. It was SLOW, lots of walk breaks but the trees are so pretty so it went by quickly 😅
I’m still not sure about my foot but at this point if it gets messed up I feel like oh well because they’re just gonna take another chunk out anyway.

I tweaked something in my neck/shoulder yesterday and I'm super stiff today. Skipped CF (which my body needed anyway) and went for a 30 min outdoor rock run w/ Becs instead. The temp was mid-50s and perfect. I just realized I forgot to stretch afterward, so I'll hopefully fit that in at some point.

Yesterday I wasn’t feeling great so I did 4 easy miles instead of my usual speed work. I did that today instead. It was 6 x 800m at 5K pace. Averaged an 8:50 pace and super happy with that.
Question: do I have to just accept that unless I get a chest strap my Garmin will always tell me that I have an anaerobic shortage for my training load? Because my watch told me that I was only in Zone 4 for 10 minutes of that workout and lolno. The first 2-3 minutes of each interval would show me in zone 2 and then it would finally catch up and realize I was not in fact jogging and spike up. When it suggests sprint workouts for anaerobic training the same thing happens. The interval is over before my watch even registers that I hit zone 5. So annoying. But I’m cheap and don’t want to buy something else 😅

I entered the lottery for the 2025 Chicago Marathon 🫣 I was looking at this lottery last night! Do I really have to pay $200+ just to be in the lottery? I’ve entered other Majors lotteries and they didn’t charge unless/until you’re accepted.

My running is non existent between work and school and multiple kid activities currently. I did see my trainer last week and learned of a move I hate more than push ups so that’s fun. Going to see her again tomorrow. I can’t even treadmill bc my basement is getting finished right now and the tread is in storage. Ugh.
ETA the hated move is eccentric chin ups

I’ve seen a bunch of people say that’s how they knew they got drawn. Their bank account was faster than the acceptance email to tell them they made it in.

Day 4 creatine 30 min sprint spin Body pump (again, had to leave after biceps to take DD to school) 10 min core Breakfast was an egg w egg whites on top on a slice of Greek pizza. It was delicious. Lunch was a protein yogurt with strawberries and blueberries Dinner will be skinnytaste cheeseburger salad. Dh comes home from being out of town the past couple of days and it’s really nice out. I’m sure we’ll sit outside, but I hope to limit it to two drinks.

Squats today, my back felt a little twingy on the last couple sets so I need to stretch that out. Then out for a nice fall stroll with my parents.

But I’m cheap and don’t want to buy something else 😅 There is a lag, your heart rate needs to catch up and slow down, so it's normal for it to find where it needs to be a smidge after speeding up or slowing down. My heart rate often keeps going down for the first like 30 or so seconds when I speed back up after a recovery. And sometimes it still creeps up or levels out before dropping after I've already slowed down. That said, a chest strap will be significantly more accurate than a wrist based monitor. They're fairly inexpensive these days and you can buy an off brand one. It just needs ANT+ to work with Garmin, unless they've switched to regular Bluetooth in the last decade since I bought my last chest strap.

Also, hi, I've been doing a bit.
Monday and yesterday were both 20 minute recovery rides and stretching. It's amazing how much those help! Today I hopped on the treadmill after school and did a 30 minute interval run. I could still feel some fatigue in my muscles, but nothing beyond what I'd normally feel after a heavily loaded week. Followed up with an easy 10 minute flow. Hopefully I can get back to normal as the week progresses.

Also not a single word about the days I obliterate my fat intake goal. Like if I'm blowing through that by 40g, might be a better focus area than not liking my carb choices.

We tried keto for a little bit years ago and omg mh was sofa king cranky and my runs sucked (which now I say to myself duh). Finally I was like "this is dumb we clearly need more carbs." The half before my last I really focused on higher carbs (I think it was 250g/day?) throughout my training and that was my best race ever (physically and mentally).

I didn't do anything Monday in the end, but I did 4 miles on Tuesday and 4 miles yesterday. Yesterday I took a different route from my office and learned that the newly opened location for my local running store (that I've done training groups with) is just over two miles straight down the road (and the road has sidewalks the whole way). I can see that coming in handy in the future

Good morning! Did a 30 min weighted vest walk and 45 min Les Mills S&D class. I love it. I did a couple min core in between.
I will probably have egg on a slice of greek pizza (leftovers) again bc it was so delicious and yogurt with berries and protein powder for lunch. (kinda switching breakfast and lunch around but it works for me.) idk what dinner will be but I did just have one cocktail last night and plan to do the same tonight!

Went back to the newly reopened park today for my run. It was so nice! I did a mile run and then 3/2 run/walk intervals. Got 3.5 miles total which brings me to my highest week since the end of August 😳. But I’m feeling pretty good, so I’m happy.

i may need new mantras...what mantras are you all using lately to keep motivated?
my don't punch people in the face mantra is not working. i mean i am not punching people in the face but it also doesn't keep me motivated. lol
