Just finished A Daughter of Fair Verona. It was clever, super easy read. Nothing earth shattering, but a good read if you are looking for something easy.
Just picked up Remarkably Bright Creatures, All We Were Promised, and the Matthew Perry autobio (my book club host's pick for her month).I am super excited for the first two books.

I finished Icebreaker and enjoyed it more than I thought I would, honestly. Although, as someone who went to a UC, some of the little stuff was more unbelievable to me than it might be to others lol.
I started Ruth Ware’s latest (hardback), and may just start Wildfire next (Kindle) because Icebreaker was the easy read I needed in my life and it’s the cozy vibe I want. Either that or The Wedding Witch.

I finished One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware last week and it was not great. It was so predictable and I kept saying to myself that some twist must be coming, but it didn’t or just wasn’t exciting. I gave it 2 stars. She was a must read author for me but the past few books have not been great.
Two other books I finished this week:
A Quiet Retreat by Kiersten Modglin 3 stars. Also predictable but had some interesting backstories.
Youthjuice by E.K. Sathue 3 stars. Interesting concept but could have been done a lot better.

I really enjoyed The Best Lies. The writing was smart and fun and the plot surprised me several times.
I also read Jessica Beam is a Hot Mess and it was cute. The romance didn’t 100% work for me but it was funny and engaging otherwise.
I finished Look in the Mirror this morning and liked it a lot. The reviews were mixed so I almost didn’t read it but I’m glad I did. I actually had to make myself put it down last night before bed because it was making me so tense (in a mostly good way lol).
I just started The Last Party by A.R. Torre and it’s off to a fantastic start.

Not a book update - but I realized I hadn't written any reviews on my goodreads since late last year so the last few days I caught up on that - felt nice!

I finished All the Colors in the Dark last night. It was not what I was expecting. I didn't realize it spanned like 25 years. In some ways, I felt it dragged and in others, I wish there were more details. I was really frustrated with the MMC for most of it. I gave it 3.5 stars.

I picked up his and hers last night but it didn’t catch me. I’ll try again tonight because it’s all over the must read thriller lists

I finished The Suite Life last night. Putting that series on hold again and started The Paradise Problem.
I'm 69% into Ghost Station and enjoying it a lot. Hoping to finish it most likely by tomorrow. I have some cleaning and shit that needs done around the house that will severely cut into my reading time today.

I finished Ghost Station. It was really good until the very end. The author wrapped it up in like two and half pages and just glossed over everything without ever really explaining anything. There were vague answers to things, but it really was extremely lacking and a very disappointing way to otherwise end a good book.
I finally grabbed my pushed out hold on The Search Party, but I kind of just want to read my pile of romance books and maybe start a new fantasy series instead.

I felt the same way about Ghost Station - I had other issues with it too - but the end didn't quite work for me. I loved their first book Dead Silence, so I will definitely pick up whatever they write next, hopefully more sci-fi/horror blends!

I agree, Dead Silence was definitely the better book, but I will also continue to read their stuff as it comes out. I'm curious what other qualms you had with the book?

I finallllllyyyyy finished The Covenant of Water. While I’m glad I read it, it definitely could have been shorter. 30 hours was wayyyy too long. I did like how everything (finally lol) tied together in the end. I am most of the way through Erin Sterling’s (still blows my mind that she is Rachel Hawkins) The Wedding Witch. Some of the parts are slightly cringe (I can explain in a spoiler), but overall it’s my favorite in the trilogy so far! The two main characters just realized their love for each other VERY quickly, like they hadn’t been dating at all and then were like poof I love you. It was a little strange and could have been done a little better. Also the first sex scene was… maybe just not my taste exactly? IDK maybe that’s TMI 😂

Anyone ever get dizzy/nauseous while reading? So weird. This hasn’t happened before, but I went on a long road trip and got carsick while reading, so I stopped reading in cars, but now I’m feeling weird even relaxing at home. Completely normal aside from when I look down at a book.

Yes, I just asked my eye doctor about this two weeks ago as it was getting bad this summer (and any time I was focused on something like a book length away like staring at a puzzle for a long time) and he said (at least in my case) it’s an early sign of age related eye changes and recommended reading glasses. I wear glasses for distance and the reading glasses prescription is actually a bit more mild - I was under the idea reading glasses made print bigger and would be stronger (and I had no issue seeing the words, they were plenty big) but it’s more complicated than that. So far the readers helping! I’ll put them on if I start to feel that way and I’m trying to get in the habit of when I sit to read just popping them on.

I have some readers, so I’ll definitely try that. The last time I was at a new eye doctor and found out I was being overcorrected after suddenly struggling to read. After he fixed my prescription, I didn’t feel like I needed readers anymore. Thanks for the idea!

Ughhh I read half of My Oxford Year and I should’ve checked the trigger warnings. I would not have picked it up had I known.
So now I’m not sure if I want to finish it or wait until I’m in a better space and pick something else up.

I finished His and Hers. It got interesting but the ending was just to all over the place and there was so much going on.
I got half way through A Stranger in the house and it’s interesting enough

Well I finished My Oxford Year. I gave it 3.5 stars. There were moments I was really angry with both main characters, plus I have some deep stuff going on IRL so that probably colored my thoughts on it.
I read the Seven Year Slip over the weekend and it was my favorite of hers. Much better than Dead Romantics IMO.
I also sped through Worst Case Scenario. It was so good and emotional and I really loved it.

My August count will be low too. Turns out when you're the one doing all of the driving on a road trip you don't get as much reading time in. I did finish The Beach at Summerly and really enjoyed it.
Picked up By Any Other Name and that pulled me in pretty quick, though I know it's going to be a tough read. I had grabbed it at Target then went to Costco and could have gotten it cheaper there - ended up grabbing a couple of other options at Costco to add to my overflowing TBR bookshelf. Whoops.

I can't remember who recommended The Cruel Prince series, but I've torn through them in the last week and will wrap up book 3 shortly, so thank you.

My poor boss decided to read The Women, in its entirety, on a plane back from Iceland. Sitting next to a stranger. 😂
I was like, oh god, you totally snorted all over that poor person, didn’t you?
Bless her heart.

Started The Veiled Kingdom yesterday and I read that and the second book, The Hunted Heir. I finished both and they were both just ok. But whatever. The next one comes out in March and I'll read it anyways.
Not sure what I want to start next. Ugh.

I downloaded The Book Of Azreal, but this is now high on my next to read list. I went ahead and put holds on all the books in this series.

Lots of SJM vibes.
