I really need to read this book. My heartrate skyrockets when I run, even though I feel like I'm crawling. I checked my zone breakdown after my last run and it was in zones 4 & 5 the entire time. Are you sure your zones are correct? I rarely hit zone 5 and if I'm zone 4 long enough it'll eventually run me down. This is a good point. I should google how to reset the zones on my apple watch. My heart rate averages between 165-175 and will bump to the 180s if on hills or go faster than a jog. The only way to get it back down into the 150s is to walk. Even my slow jog is 165+. Googling now.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep so I actually got up and went for a run. I don’t even know who I am anymore. I got in a little less than 3 miles because I ran out of time at the end and had to cut it short in order to make it to work on time. I felt like absolute garbage. I was trying to figure out if it was because it was a morning run or because of my long run yesterday. But then I got my period and yeah. That would be it. Come to the dark side of early morning workouts!

Googling now. Definitely retest your zones then reset them on your watch and see if that helps. An all out mile or 5k, like DEAD at the end and then take your highest heart rate and do the adjustment for percentage (which your watch will do for you, because math is stupid). I usually do a soul crushing 5k to test mine, which I haven't done in a good while and should do. Ugh. I typically have an average HR in the 150s, which is a solid zone 3 for me. I can usually jog myself back to a zone 2 during recoveries and do the bulk of my running in zone 3 and 4. I don't think I could hold a zone 5 (183+ for me) for more than like 5 minutes or so. That sounds miserable. I've also been running for 25 years, so take my numbers with a grain of salt against your own. You may want to check the accuracy of your HRM too. Remember, your apple watch is a smart watch first and a fitness device second. It can only do so many things so very accurately. If you have a dedicated fitness watch or HRM I'd test against it. Wear both during a run and see how they differ.

Morning.
I got a late start and had to cut back on my planned workout. Especially when I had to jump off during my first run and deal with a clogged toilet. Children are so gross.
30 minute PT interval run with Susie 15 minute hip hop run with Marcel D 5 minute core with Olivia 10 minute stretch with Robin
Yoga and foam rolling tonight. I skipped yoga last night and I am feeling it this morning.
Food should be good. I may get a donut at Wegmans. We'll see.

I feel the best I have in months today. I had an appointment with a menopause nurse practitioner and am happy with the plan ahead. I also had a head neck and shoulder massage that felt lifesaving. My entire upper back has felt frozen for like a week now. I realize one massage is not going to cut it so I booked another one for next week but I’m already feeling the benefits.
I was able to get my workout in before noon today so that’s also lovely.
10 min core with Selena 20 min full body strength with RK 30 min 90s rock ride with Emma

20 minute walk run (mostly a jog with some faster intervals), and a 10 minute focus flow for runners. Trying to get back to running after travel and the associated cold!

I want Marcel Dinkins to start doing strength. That woman is friggin ripped. Really I want her doing tread boot camps because I figure it'd be a massive ass whoop, but I'd take floor work for now too.

Final heavy workout is in the books for this meet prep. Squats finally went well, though I was spent after that and bench was a mess. I've been waiting for my shitty bench day, so I guess good that's over with.
Sitting about a kilo over my weight class, so my cut shouldn't be too terrible. Start water loading tomorrow, gut cut after that. In a perfect world I'll end up under by the time I get to the location and I can eat "normal" the last day.

Just a short indoor cycle while DS was swimming. It’s really hard to get some workouts in without him being at school.

Morning.
30 minute pop run with Olivia Extra 10 run with Jeffrey 20 minute upper body with RK 5 minute Lane break run 10 minute stretch with Logan
Yoga tonight.
I planned to run for an hour, but then I got less than four hours of broken sleep and a late start, so dropping down to 45 minutes was a better choice. I could have muscles through, but I know my body will appreciate me not forcing it to 6+ miles this morning.
Food will be fine. Caffeine consumption will be excessive.
We're getting hit with the remnants of Beryl today, so it makes for a good excuse to not leave the house and take it easy today.

Short but hard workout this morning: 15 minute tabata with Hannah F (new PR!) and 5 minute core with Ben.
Other than that, just managing the heat is workout enough.

We have Beryl here today too. I planned my swim for today as such.
1700 yards with 2 ladders, 100’s going through zones 2-5. I split my zone 5 100’s into 4x25 with 5 seconds rest just to catch my breath and felt really happy with that.

45 min walk + run with Selena 20 min focus flow hips with Anna 10 min focus flow core with Kira (that class was humbling)

Becs is doing the Great World Race 😳 seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
I listened to a podcast interview with a guy who did this and it was fascinating!

Yesterday was my rest day which I definitely needed. Today was a speed workout. 6x400 plus a one mile warm up and cool down for a total of 5 miles. I was not super excited that I had to do it at 8:30pm in 90% humidity but I got it done. One thing that stood out to me in that book I’m reading was that he said that most people aren’t running their easy runs easy enough or their hard runs hard enough. I know for sure that has been true for me. So I’ve really been digging deep and pushing on the speed work. I finished with an average pace of 8:56 for my intervals (2:14/400m) and damn did it feel good to hear my splits with an 8 in the mile number. Even if I just barely scraped it in there 🤣
Oh. And I bought myself a Garmin Forerunner 265S today because it was 20% off on Amazon 🫣 I have never had anything but Apple so it’s going to be weird but I’m so excited! I’m leaving Sunday to go to Denver to visit my sister and I actually had it shipped to her house so that I don’t have to wait until I get back to open it lol.

30 minute intervals and arms ride with Sam Yo (from June). Another long day for me, but I’m glad I was able to get that in. NSV: a pair of pants that had been uncomfortably snug earlier in the year now fit perfectly.

Rest day today. I did my first ever HIIT run on Tuesday. My legs felt fine the rest of the day, but when I woke up to go to CF yesterday morning they were heavy. I went anyway since I was already awake and therefore committed, but the burpee box jump overs about destroyed me. My legs were lead the rest of the day. I think I'll try to get a couple of walks in today so I don't feel like a total sloth, but that will be about it.
Tuesday: 10 min warm up run w/ Jess King 30 min outdoor HIIT run w/ Robin 10 min full body stretch w/ Adrian
Wednesday: CF
Today: Rest + walks

Morning.
30 minute PZ ride with Charlotte 20 minute low impact ride with Ally 5 minute core with Adrian 5 minute stretch with Robin
Yoga tonight. I probably should have done a PZE instead since I have some lingering fatigue still in my legs, but I saw Charlotte had an English power zone ride and wanted to take that instead. I definitely had a hard time keeping a rhythm in zones 5 and 6 to stay in my zone. My leggies are tired now. At least a couple night in a row of consistent yoga helped flush the soreness. Lumping around today to rest and my legs should be good to go for a run tomorrow.
Food will on point.

Here, sort of. Struggling with motivation and tiredness. Don’t know if it’s just the time of month, or the long holiday weekend catching up. Been doing walks, a few rides, some strength work (short 15 min classes). Hoping to find my groove again soon.

Ugh, good morning.
I did a 60 minute progression run with Becs and a 10 minute stretch. I had a strength stacked too, but I felt like I was running through molasses for the first 3 miles of my run and just, ugh, I didn't want to do it anymore by the time I was done. I hit a groove for a bit, until the last mile. I managed 10k, but barely. It was a struggle. Bleh.
Foam rolling and yoga tonight.

Had the worst run I’ve had in a long long time. Everything sucked. I didn’t want to go in the first place so I’m taking the win that I did it anyway.
But it sucked.

A couple of boring days for me. 3 mile easy run yesterday and 4 mile easy run today. Tomorrow is my long run and then I have to pack for Denver. I assume next week will be a mess because I’m staying with my sister and DD1 will be at violin camp all day (that I have to attend too 🥴). Hoping to get at least 3 runs in. More would be great but I’m trying to be realistic.

Morning.
20 minute interval run with JJ 20 minute interval run with Jess Sims 10 minute arms and shoulders with Robin 5 minute stretch with Marcel D 10 minute foam roll with Hannah C 5 minute stretch with Camila
I had a few more things stacked, but I've been overstacking then kind of picking and choosing as I go. It's working for me. I finally foam rolled, sandwiched it in between two stretches, and my legs feel significantly better. The fatigue they've been carrying has been consistently noticeable. The lack of stretching for eight days while we traveled and camped, followed by ramping up mileage this week to get caught back up to where I need to be to hit my monthly mileage really hit me. Both things separate don't bug me as much for as long, but compounded together, my old person legs apparently don't appreciate. Extra stretchy yoga and I should be good as mostly new.
