I was going to take a rest day today, but after dinner, I decided I felt like hopping on the bike. Did a 30 minute PZE and a stretch with Denis. I’m glad I did.
Goals this month are 250+ miles in the bike, strength 3x a week, PT, and to get a swim and elliptical/ arc session in at least once a week.

I didn’t do my ftp test today and probably won’t be able to this week. Long story.
No formal exercise for me today but I did take some kids to an amusement park so walking was good and eating was bad.
The end of this month I have a 6 mile hilly race so I need to start running more consistently. I was doing well until about 3 weeks ago and since then have had trouble fitting runs in. I have been on the bike more though so keeping my cardio going.

June was ok for me. Food was a mess, I cycled 85 miles and ran 81. Water was better.
July is all of the same. Run and ride at least 83 miles respectively, don't eat like a total asshole, don't gain weight. We have a ton of traveling in July, so we'll see how I do.
I ran 2.3 miles through the Schoodic camp loops yesterday. I meant to run down to the Gulf of Maine, but got turned around and ran out of time. Then we hiked 3.5 miles that I also carried all three kids at some point during. My arms and back are sore now. I ended up with like 20k steps, too, so I opted not to run today since we have more hikes on deck.

30 minute HIIT and Hills ride for me this morning. Long workday ahead. Installing my students’ work for a show so it will be somewhat physical.

June was OK, I ran around 80km. Considering it’s usually my busiest work month of the year, I’m fine with it.
I have my unofficial marathon planned for the first weekend in August, and plan to do my longest training run ever, either this weekend or next. I’m thinking I’ll do either 25 or 30km 😬
Yesterday I ran home, nothing planned for today.

How is it...?
...pauses to flip the calendar page over to July...
Ahem.
June was a pretty good month for me as I was very consistent with my 3 days of strength, finishing PUTV 1, finishing my None 2 Run beginner program, and starting the N2R 5K program.
I'm also down 4.8 lbs from last month. I have been tracking loosely on LoseIt (I finally ditched MFP after all these years after the feed feature as what is the point even without that and it was my only reason to keep up with two apps) and focused on protein and making healthier swaps, which includes almost whittling away my 1 soda/day habit for a zero sugar one 1-2/week. I also don't bring junk in the house because I know if it's not in the house, I won't eat it or go out of my way to get it LOL. Eating out less has also helped, but that having said, I had bread and Bloomin Onion along with my steak, salad, and mixed veggies at Outback and enjoyed every bite a few nights ago. Because food is meant to be enjoyed and savored.
My goals for July are to keep up with my 3 days of strength and I think I will start Andy's latest TSD2 next week. I'll also keep working through my N2R5K program with yoga, foam rolling, and lots and lots of stretching to round out. I also got away from my occasional ballet classes so want to work in a few of those this month, too. Who knows? I may scout out an adult class come fall.
I can't wait to see what all you bad-ass women accomplish this month!

Phew. June was a wash of sickness and lost time. Hello, July!
Yesterday I took a walk at work and then we finally got out for pickleball last night.
Today I did a 30 minute outdoor run before the heat got bad.

Fiance and I are training for a half in October. My heart isn't really in it, but it's one of my favorite races and I hate to miss it.

I am back after an extended break. At the end of April after changing his diaper, I stood up and lost my balance while holding DS and jacked up my knee. It’s not 100% now, but at least I can walk again!
30 min strength program 30 min 2000s walk w/Olivia 5 min Lower Body stretch w/Rebecca

I'm back from a wild June. School ended, we said goodbye to our sweet pup, and then went out of the country for 2 weeks! Lots of walking and stairs while we traveled, and lots of jet lag now that I'm back, but getting back to moving intentionally after taking time off intentionally on the trip. I walked 3 miles by myself yesterday, and another 1 mile loop with the kids, and today I did a 20 minute morning yoga, and took a short walk. I'll probably walk or swim with the kids this afternoon.

I did end up doing deadlifts yesterday while DS was at swim.
Today I went for a swim. Slow easy 30 minutes with only a couple breaks to adjust my cap/goggles. New Nike silicone cap sux. Got 1700 or so.

Another 2.3 miles this morning. It included a massive downhill all the way to the water, which meant a massive uphill on the way back, which I did as walk run intervals. My camp runs I always just enjoy and don't sweat my time on, so it was good, because I avoid hills and it's obvious, lol.

I almost forgot it was a new month! I started my next Half Marathon plan today. I’m trying out Hal Higdon’s Intermediate 2 this go around because I want to have some speed work in there and the plan calls for races on weeks that almost perfectly aligns with my 5K and 10K races coming up this month and next, so I already have those factored into my training plan.
I’m also reading 80/20 Running and trying to give that a true shot. I’m not super great about actually staying in Zone 2 for most of my runs. It probably only ends up being once a week or so if I’m being honest. So I want to attempt to actually stay in Zone 2 for all of my easy runs over the next 12 weeks. I figure I can’t get any slower 🤣 But man, I picked the wrong day to start. Because it’s 85° out and I am not at all acclimatized to the heat. Like it’s been in the 60s basically since spring. So I was sloooooow to stay in Zone 2. Got in 3 miles though. Tomorrow is my first speed session!

Got out for a bike ride today, 50ish minutes. Was supposed to be increasing intervals but I made a route change due to someone burning a TON of brush and the new route wasn’t conducive to going super fast.
Then got in a quick bench session while DS was at swim. Feel good about today!

W1D2 of my half plan. Today was 5x400m. I added on a 1 mile warm up and and a 1 mile cool down for a total of a little over 4 miles. The intervals were supposed to be at 5k pace so I set my Apple Watch pace alert to 9:50/mile but the problem with the pace alert is that once you are ahead of your goal it never tells you anything again unless you dip below. So I did them all probably a bit too fast. Or maybe it doesn’t matter since I was able to do them all? Idk. My average was 2:16/400m which is 9:04/mile. I felt amazing though. And now I know that the rest of the week is just easy runs!

I dropped the kids off at school and got it done - 30km run, my longest ever! It felt great for the most part, my legs started to get pretty sore by the end. Happy Friday, everyone!

2.4 miles through Schoodic this morning and another .45 miles of a veryyy slow walk run with two of the kids before we hit the road. I've crushed my steps all week and my leggies are tired!

No workout on Wednesday as I was still doing more cleaning and organizing prior to our trip. None yesterday either as we were traveling to Gettysburg. I got in a slow 5k this morning and felt like I was running in a swamp, but vacation runs are just more bearable somehow, even with the trifecta of heat, humidity, and hills. W3/D1 N2R 5k, accompanied by Tobias’ 10 min Motley Crue Warm Up Run and 30 min Motley Crue Run. I walked the incline parts of the hills so that I did not die. I did a 10 min Post-Run Stretch with Logan, holding onto a cannon. LOL Not a fan of Lee but the Virginia monument is where I started and finished my out and back run.

My watch zones are probably off but I figure as long as it’s conversation pace, it’s all good.

My watch zones are probably off but I figure as long as it’s conversation pace, it’s all good. Having the zones right is definitely important. My max heart rate that I’ve recorded on Strava is 203 and I can easily get into the 185-190 range on hard workouts. I used a 5K time trial from a couple of months ago to set my lactate threshold and set my zones around that. My zone 2 tops out at 158. If I used what my Apple Watch automatic settings are I would have to be like laying on the ground to be in zone 2 🤣 I follow this girl on TikTok that does 80/20 and her zone 2 runs are 10:30ish pace and her race pace is 6:30-7 depending on distance. It made me feel better about how slow I was having to run. So I’m trying to trust the process even though I feel like I could be lapped by a literal turtle.

I just realized the Ragnar race is NEXT Friday. For some reason I've been thinking it was 2 weeks away? Newp, this Friday. I guess I need to get in a 7 mile run this week, maybe tomorrow! And look at my stash of electrolytes and such, I need to start packing!
Got in a nice easy 4 mile run today, and am headed out to a Blues Fest!
