We are having a heat wave that started last Wednesday and this week will be in the 90s feeling like 105 with the humidity and guess who has a broken air conditioner 😭😭😭
Luckily they finally called us back and can come out tomorrow so fingers crossed they can fix it

OMG angelashly that's a nightmare! Sending cool breezes and many iced drinks to you today. I hope it's an easy fix tomorrow! We are also in the path of our record heatwave above the 90s with heat index into the 100s. I'm actually on vacation this week, we'll more like a staycation during a no spend month 🙃 so we don't have much planned and it's too hot to go out and do anything! We'll probably hit up the library, maybe a park if we can get out early enough, and a beach. There's 3 beaches along lake Erie we can choose from but I'm sure they'll all be packed this week. The kids still have regular schedules this week too. My oldest started their first job this month and my youngest has tennis lessons. It was working Tuesday and then just cool air not cold Wednesday 😭 so far we are making due with fans but my family are not happy when to hot Hopefully you get a good beach day! |

We are getting 90s here this week, and then we leave for Alaska which is showing 60 and rain all next week for us so that'll be quite the difference.

If you can put a big bowl of ice in front of the fan, it cools the air before it reaches you. At least it might help you sleep. We’ve done it when the power goes out during the summer with little battery operated fans. Dd has a hand held mist fan and she has ice in the water so we will try this! |

The same part of my brain that thinks early morning flights are great options also thought that taking a stay-cation from Weds - Tuesday instead of Monday-Friday was a good idea.
It was, in fact, a horrible idea.

The same part of my brain that thinks early morning flights are great options also thought that taking a stay-cation from Weds - Tuesday instead of Monday-Friday was a good idea. It was, in fact, a horrible idea. What was your original logic??? |

I am fascinated by the it's too hot to do anything outside people. Of course, if you mean do something physically taxing. Other than that, we just go about our daily lives.
Anyway, it's up there for me with the no tv people.

H tested positive for covid the night before and I tested positive over the weekend just in time for the heat wave 😭 He got a window unit to hold us over (curbside pickup yay) but like, fix it Jesus. |

I had 2 extra days to use and decided to take my birthday (early next week) off. Clearly I need the time off since I am not making good decisions. |

I think we're just going to have a new mini split put in next fall/winter - I need to get quotes etc. We've always used window units for the bedrooms because we live in an old rowhouse. Also he feels fine now! So he's taking care of me. |

It’s weeks like these where I wish we had a pool. My girls just stand in the driveway being awkward and staring at the neighbors pool in hopes of getting an invite to come over.

I just accepted a new job! Thanks everyone for your kind words when I was asking all kinds of questions. I’m leaving retail (hallelujah!) and going to be a teachers aid at a small Lutheran school. I’ll float between infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I am a bit concerned about me getting there as I don’t drive, but between the bus, uber, and H, we will figure it out.
But I am out of retail after 17 years! And I have enough time before starting for my two weeks notice AND a week break! So much relief. I have been having anxiety attacks at work for the last few days.

It was my big kid’s first day at camp and one of the kids from his bus was there. His mom was interested in car pooling, which has been a dream of mine, so maybe that’ll work out.

I thought I wanted the other one more, but I think I realized I would rather go in to the established school than the one that was just expanding. I also think the hours at this one will be more conducive to the family time I was really looking for. Four 10 hour days sounds nice, but 9-5:30 will work better for us in the long run. Plus, a week after the interview and she hasn’t even called to ask for references, while the one I went with asked right away. |
