Week of June 17th randoms

DS has been BFFs with our neighbor since they were 3, and I would say that our families are fairly close. The mom texted me this morning to tell me they are moving a few miles away. Today.

She said it happened fast and that’s why she hadn’t told me yet. I’m honestly shocked. DS is devastated and keeps crying every time he looks at me, so then I start crying too because of how sad he is.

I am sad for my kid but also very confused by the situation and secrecy.

Oh wow Bluebird that is so weird. Even a fast move still didn't happen overnight. I'm so sorry for the shock of it

Will the kids still be in the same school?

DS and I found a public pool but it was soooo crowded and then it stormed. We stopped for fancy ice cream sandwiches on the way home only to discover that H had also gone out and gotten us ice cream. I'm not mad.

He's on a cooking kick so he made salsa Verde for tomorrow and to tonight he's making shrimp and Grits. I'm parked in the kiddie pool while he cooks. Best.

We’re at an amusement park this weekend. We had planned on camping with friends but the weather wasn’t great so we booked a room instead and the kids love staying in cheap motels. 😅

I picked my friend up at the airport this morning, now grocery shopping. Then I have a friend's daughter's grad party. I'm so tired!

A seriously sick kiddo has thrown our plans out the window. I am bummed he has to miss a sleep away camp he looks forward to each year and while I am trying to focus on the positive of being off work until Wednesday so I don’t have to juggle caring for my kid with work, part of me is sad my plans to float in the pool and hang at the beach to try to unwind the stress of work are now not happening

B is gone for the week to my ILs. He'll come back this weekend, then we take him to sleepaway camp for the next week. We're getting into the thick of his summer plans and I'm so glad to have this quiet alone time.

trueblue sorry sick kid means no vacation at a pool. That sucks. Hope he feels better soon.

I’m taking a break from finally doing some landscaping in our ugly backyard. I’m so pumped.

It’ll be a while before I am able to buy enough plants to fill the whole area up, but at least step one is done.

Once SO finishes replacing the fence, and we get another little garden area edged nicely, I think it might actually be nice to look out there lol.

I'm sitting on the back porch hoping this storm doesn't skirt by us- my garden needs a good drenching.
