Ok maybe on the story line. Maybe Introduces a lot of characters but doesn't flesh them out to make me as a reader care about them. Like how did they jump from here to there in their life there's no details. Meanwhile dh laughing at his sister throwing out all his family's names. I was reading it out loud to dh tonight.

I remain an eternally slow reader. DS and I are reading The Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers- he's one of my favorite adult authors so it's no surprise this book is lovely too. I hope DS loves it. I just finished This Isn't Going to End Well by Daniel Wallace. I have When We Lost Our Heads waiting for me next. Will you let me know what you think of it once you start reading? I have it on my TBR, but it has some pretty polarized reviews. Yes! I picked it up because someone here recommended it but I'm afraid I won't get all the references because I'm not much for historical fiction. We'll see.

I just finished A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara and I loved it, but man is it depressing. And 720 pages. I didn't know how long it was going in and at one point had to stop and check. But it really was beautiful. It reminded me in that way of this italian film I started watching years ago and 3 hours in was like how long is this movie?! Oh 6 hours. It was 6 hours long. Worth it, but man.
Now on to something maybe a little bit lighter?

blurnette989, how about TJ Klune? His books always leave me with warm fuzzies. Maybe Ashley Poston or Andy Weir?

For half a second I thought TJ Klune was the one who wrote the books Falling and Drowning and I was like, ma'am- those books are the farthest thing from warm and fuzzy. LOL. But then I double checked and realized its a different TJ. I will check out something from Klune!

I started A Love Song for Ricki Wilde today and I'm loving it.
I know people have mixed reviews about Holly Jackson, but I finished The Reappearance of Rachael Price yesterday and really liked that one too.

I figured sis in laws book would be light but there's arson, migrant workers being taken advantage of, child abuse, fbi involved and kidnapping. None of it really flows well but she's thrown all the shit in there. Omg.

Really enjoying this roller coaster AmyG! I'm not really. Dh wants to record my critics and send them to his sister lol.

Remember that episode of Seinfeld where they had to give a polite reaction even though their friend's baby was ugly? I'm guessing this book is your SIL's baby and you're gonna have to sugarcoat your review until your teeth hurt.

I finished the Serpent and the Wings of Night sequel, Ashes and the Star-Cursed King. I enjoyed this as well, it was a good follow-up to the first book. There's another book in the series coming this fall, that will focus on one of the other characters, and I'm looking forward to that. I have another Carissa Broadbent series on my TBR, will probably start that once I get through the books I currently have.
Reading Will of the Many. I am enjoying it, but June has been packed with work and end of school stuff so I've been exhausted and not reading much. I also have The Mysterious Affair at Styles on audio loan - it's the first Hercule Poirot series by Agatha Christie. I've never actually read any of them and it seemed like a good option while I wait for other titles to become available.

cakewench which Carissa broadbent book? I’ve read some of her others, but I loved the crowns of nyaxia series. I can’t wait for the 3rd in the series.

Any audiobook suggestions for a 10yr old girl & mom to share?
We have a lot of driving to/from a camp next week and would love something to help us pass the time. She's listened to all the HPs. I suspect I won't have time to get anything through a library hold, but right now I have audible so if anything is credit-worthy or free on there, I'm open to it.

We loved listening to the how to train your dragon audio books. David Tennant narrates and it’s amazing.

We've been listening to the Hunger Games series. I'd say use your judgement about whether your kid could handle it. I have been giving DD1 (also 10) some spoilers to help her mentally prepare for some of the more intense scenes.

starrynight , I think Dakota Fanning narrates a bunch of BSC books. I'd be happy to listen to those! *ETA it's Elle Fanning, but my claim still holds!

There seems to be a lot going on there just from that.

Introduces a lot of potentially interesting characters but then doesn't flesh them out so why would I be interested in them if they die or whatever? Other reviews talk about interesting characters and I'm like but but but Story line is potentially interesting but plot needs fill in instead of all of a sudden fbi drops this case or how do these persons named after me and dh have a sudden meteoric rise to fame? Idk I'm probably sticking with it's a fast summer read with interesting story line. Or some other nothing burger

Maybe add it would be good to hear them talk on an audio book with southern Kentucky accents.

We’ve been reading them together and I like it too. It’s got Harry Potter vibes if that’s her thing

overboard melohdy byjove emma Thank you guys for the audiobook ideas! Going to run them by her and pick! It was a true moment of weakness for me to agree to this day camp. It isn't necessarily very far from us, but construction will make the drive a beast.

I finished all five ACOTAR books last night. A lot got left untied, so I'm curious to see if the nudge to read that before reading CC2 factors in or if that's just how it ends.
I bought the CC trilogy this morning and already dove back into CC2.

I started Summer at the Saint last night. Seems promising! I was reading Summer Romance but was struggling to get into it. I think after years and years of rom-coms my brain is completely over and done with them.

I decided to choose a different genre I don’t typically read because I kept DNFing books. So I tried horror with the book Seed. It was awful lol.
I’m currently reading Yours Truly. Romance and rom coms aren’t my fav, but I needed a quick palette cleanser.
