It's a new month! Summer break has started for some, temperatures are up, and books are being released. What did you read last month? What are you looking forward to reading this month?

It was a little slower month for me. I read 10 books. Most were pretty good. Favorites were Funny Story and The Gathering.

I started Long Time Gone by Charlie Donlea last night but I just got the ARC for The Housemaid is Watching so I'll probably switch to that first.

I started Beautiful Little Fools by Jillian Cantor yesterday and I’m only a couple chapters in but enjoying it. It’s supposed to be a pre/sequel to The Great Gatsby all in one.

I'll probably forgo reading two books at once like I usually do in order to power through the ACOTAR and CC2. My rance books are piling up and I keep pushing our holds as they come in at this point. Too many books. Hopefully I can read a bunch once I'm done with school for the summer in three weeks.

I've made a good starting dent in Court of Mist and Fury so far today.

4 in May for me. I started out the month strong and then the end of the month was crazy and it took me 3 weeks to read one week.

I liked Funny Story and The Other Side of Disappearing. The Vacancy in Room 10 and The Paradise Problem were only ok.

I’ve been having a really hard time reading lately. Work has been so busy and my mind hasn’t been able to slow enough to focus. I also haven’t had too many gripping books. I don’t think June will be much different. I know 12 is a lot for some but it’s a mix of audio as well and I usually do around 20.

I read 6 books in May and really enjoyed them all. 2 we're fantastic novellas, 1 was only OK overall but a fun read, and three were a new for me Genre (Lit RPG) that were so much fun. It was a great reading month for me and I'm looking forward to more of the same in June.

I finished 3 books in May.

Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco.

I also read The Emperor of Evening Stars by Laura Thalassa.
They were all pretty good.

I started two others. I am almost finished with Dark Harmony by Laura Thalassa and I am 15% into What Did You Do? By Jeanine O’Riley.

Once I finish Dark Harmony, I’m going to re-read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. Then I am going to read Ali Hazelwood’s new book when it comes out. After that I may start Crave. I downloaded it the other day. I also want to do a full Throne of Glass re-read.

I started and stopped so many books in May. I was so so busy between work and the kids and I’ve been exhausted. When I get home, I literally disassociate watching TikTok until I pass out (usually 5 min later).

I started Mad Honey. I won the book in a giveaway months ago, and I finally decided to pick it up. The writing is pretty fantastic, but Jodi Picoult is involved, so that is typically the case!

I just finished reading The Fisherman by John Langan. It was excellent!! Great start to June. 5 stars

I didn’t read many books in May, it took me a long time to get through one of them just because it was not an easy read.

The Anxious Generation - 5 stars

The Anxious Generation was so interesting, it definitely gave me a lot to think about.

I started Lies and Weddings by Kevin Kwan, it’s ok but not grabbing me like Crazy Rich Asians did. I also started Lightbringer (Red Raising 6) on audio, but I think I might lose it before I finish it so I grabbed a physical copy from the library too.

How was The Radium Girls? I have it on my TBR.

it was quite good. I didn't realize how much first hand documentation they had in letters and such from the women and girls themselves, so it's compelling. And although it is really depressing, it's 😍 mg to see how much of worker safety came about because of these young women.

It was an ok month. Read a lot but also stopped and started a few too. All would be 3 stars but I would probably raise Funny Story to 3.5 or 4.

I continue to be in awe of how many books you all read each month.

For May, I managed to read a whopping one book, Elin Hilderbrand's The Five-Star Weekend. It was a very good read, as hers usually are and I flew through it per usual. I'm bummed that she's retiring after Swan Song, out next week. She's so good for light, fluffy beach reads but since I slept on her for years, I have several of her earlier novels still left to read.

I started Penelope and Colin's Bridgerton book (I haven't read any of the others) and am enjoying it thus far.

I'm also still working my way through my historical fiction Civil War novel, Gods & Generals, which covers a lot more territory/time than The Killer Angels, which mostly focused on Gettysburg.

I started One Perfect Couple. I hope it picks up because the premise sounds promising and the reviews are good, but I didn’t pick it up much this weekend.

I finished Dark Harmony. The ending was sort of forced but it wasn’t too bad. I’m glad the conclusion was the way it was despite being forced.

I am starting my fourth wing and iron flame re-read. I am thinking about picking up Powerless and/or Touch of Darkness.

I thought Radium Girls was fascinating but the book itself could have used better editing. It was made up for by the history and being so compelling as you said.
