I finished A Very Grumpy Christmas last night. It was ok. I'll probably go ahead and read the other two books anyways. That's should have me wrapping up holiday books right around Christmas or so.

I forgot about those books, apparently I read the first two when they came out and didn't realize there was a third one now. I gave the first 4 stars and the second 2. I may have to check out the third one.

I just finished The Christmas Bookshop; it was very sweet, the bookshop series always feels like a warm hug.

I read Unquiet by E. Saxey and it had good reviews but I feel like nothing happened in the book at all? Disappointed because I was getting into the story and excited for the climax but there wasn't one. Lol

I finished System Collapse which is the latest Murderbot. It follows on directly from the events 2 books ago so I was a bit lost at the start of it because I couldn’t remember what happened. It wasn’t my favourite Murderbot

Tbd if I finish another book in 2023, but I just finished The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams.
I almost don’t want to start another book, because the sweetness of this one is a perfect ending to the year.

I finished Mr. Wrong Number last night. It was not great and the characters drove me crazy but it was an easy read and I went ahead and downloaded the follow up The Love Wager anyways.

I finished the ex hex last night. It was silly and cute but it could have been a novella.
I’m going to give dating you hating you a try.

I finished Good Bad Girl and really enjoyed it. Alice Feeney’s books have been real hit or miss for me, but this one I liked.
I also read Sister Dear by Hannah Mary McKinnon and that was also really good. I was definitely surprised by the ending.

I'm a little surprised romance wasn't in my top 3, I feel like I read a lot of those!

I read a couple of 4 stars this week. Midnight Is The Darkest Hour by Ashley Winstead and A Dark Lure by Loreth Anne White. I liked the second a little more but they were both solid thrillers. I finished A Dark Lure and really liked it! I gave it 4.5 stars. The main thing I didn't like was it was a little hard to follow on audio because it switched perspectives so quickly. I had to go back quite a few times to figure out where I was, lol. But it was nice that KU had the book and the audio together so I could follow along either way. I'm starting The second book now, The Dark Bones.

I had two more really good books this week. Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen I listened to. It was narrated by Kata Mara and she was great however the book is from two different perspectives and she didn’t vary her voice much between the two so there were times I had to look up who was talking. It was a good story but I didn’t love the ending.
The other book was The Girl Who Was Taken by Charlie Donlea. This one was really good. The only reason i didn't give five stars was there were some grammatical errors. The story was great and kept me guessing. I'm definitely going to check out more by this author.

We seem to like a lot of the same stuff. I just picked up Those Empty Eyes by Charlie Donlea so I'll have to check out The Girl Who Was Taken too. I'm pretty sure I tried to listen to Gone Tonight a while ago but gave up because it was too hard to tell which perspective the book was in due to the narrator.

I just finished Don’t Forget to Write by Sara Goodman Confino, loved it even though it was somewhat farcical in moments.
I think I remember upthread that there’s some controversy around this book? Is that true?

Is that true? I think it was just that she is in the Peloton Moms Book Club group, and she got flack for “self promoting” although most didn’t see it that way. She left the group briefly and then came back.

It’s our January book club book and my choice, so I was hoping to figure it out before someone brought it up next month. But that doesn’t sound like anything at all. Thanks for the help. The online sleuthing was bringing up nothing.

I finished Merry Kissmas To Me and it was ok. The first book in that series was definitely better. I'm going to tap out on holiday books now and save the third one in that series for next year. I have a few other books that have been patiently waiting to be read that I'm ready to pivot to now.

I finished a couple books today:
The Hunting Party- meh. 3 stars. It was okay.
Trick Shot- a very smutty novella. lol it was so ridiculous. 2 stars.
I am into Lady Tan’s Circle of Women and really enjoying it. I have some novellas and short books on my list this week, so I’m hoping to reach my book goal by NYE. I am almost there. I also have less attention span lately so the novellas help.
