I finished Bright Lights Big Christmas yesterday, and it just fell flat. It had the potential to be really cute, but the relationship felt really rushed. The reviews are making me feel better about just saying no to continuing to read it. Most complain about the romance and the brother 😂

I finished Holiday Romance finally. I gave it 3 stars...it was cute and fine but I liked Christian more so Snowed In was better for me. If I read them in the correct order I probably would have liked it better. Now on to Divine Rivals. So far I'm hooked but it's early. I like the nod to The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. I read Divine Rivals last week and I really enjoyed it. It was like Fourth Wing but less epic, if that makes sense. I'm really far down on the holds list for the next one though and I can't wait.

I just downloaded A Very Merry Mistake, so you'll have to let me know how you like it. I'm in the middle of The Mistletoe Problem right now and have two other holiday books queued up before it. I'm about 1/3 into it and it's pretty cringy so far. I'm going to give it a little more time but it's not my favorite for sure. I'm almost done with it. It's ok, but definitely not the best written book out there.

I read a couple of 4 stars this week. Midnight Is The Darkest Hour by Ashley Winstead and A Dark Lure by Loreth Anne White. I liked the second a little more but they were both solid thrillers.

I might peruse some more first. There's a lot of Christmas books out there but a lot of them are novellas or just don't sound appealing to me, so we'll see.

I finished The Christmas Wish and it was cute and fun. If anyone’s looking for a nice Christmas romcom, would recommend

Well, I finally have a (disappointing) end to my library card story. I did reach out to the library, knowing I might end up looking a fool as I think I made up a fake address for the card in the first place. I said I couldn’t get my pin to work and asked if I could reset it. She was very kind in her response, but simply said it is because it was an online only card, and they are no longer supporting that card type. I could apply for a regular card in person, or apply online and request a “limited physical access card” but I would need to upload verification of residency within the city of Salinas and a photo ID.

Brooklyn did away with their online only cards last year. Broward County Florida still doesn’t ask for address FYI.

I have Broward and Harris County. Broward did want an address so I have fake addresses in Ft Meyers and Houston.

New York Public Library is the NYC library system and they have an online option. But I'm also a NY state resident and I might be open to all state residents. But maybe worth looking into if you lost your Brooklyn access?

I think next time I'm in Syracuse I'm going to try to grab a library card with my old address for that county system. My guess is the single, middle aged, active military guy who bought our house won't already have a card, lol.

I've read the first one but hadn't heard of the second one so I picked it up on KU on audio. It sounds good!

Oh man, I have Broward County and Harris County, I'd be so sad to lose them. Especially Harris, I probably get 95% of my books through them. My small town library never has anything.

I have Harris but try not to use it too much. But I’d be sad to lose it because it would mean I can’t borrow library books on my kindle anymore since you can only do that with US libraries. And my kindle isn’t anywhere near dead so I don’t want to swap it in for a Kobo yet

NYC has a 3 hold limit though, which really limits the books I get from there. I need to get on Harris county.

It's hard to pick out good ones. I ended up starting A Very Grumpy Christmas. Verdict is still out on it so far. It does center very heavily on the MMC's traumatic loss of his parents and does not shy away from delving into the realm of deep grief, so start at your risk if that's not your thing.

I’m starting to realize that maybe it’s not so much about the genre as it is the author. I was never into fantasy books, but Sarah J Maas and Rebecca Yarros got me into it. I was never a huge fan of rom-coms, but I’m loving Book Lovers right now and it makes me want to try out another Emily Henry book.

I finished Dive Rivals last night. I enjoyed it! It's definitely YA but it's well written and I'm looking forward to the second one.
Now I'm reading Mr. Wrong Number. It's cute so far and also a very easy read.

I read In a Holidaze. The first 1/3 was super cute to me, but the rest just got too predictable. I don't know why I thought it was a new release when it's from 2020.
I also read On the Road to Christmas by Sheila Roberts and really enjoyed the multiple storylines except for the sister in Idaho. Without her selfishness though, there wouldn't be a story LOL.

I finished divine rivals last night. It was ok. It moved slow for me and there wasn’t much action until the end. Only the first in the series is on KU, so I probably won’t continue.
I started the ex hex and I’m liking it so far.
