kleigh I totally had the feeling of trapped inside with DS and missing life. I remember going outside at night in the summer for something after bedtime and honestly being surprised to be out, after dark..since it had been months since I'd done that. Not ideal and I'm not letting that happen this time. Lately I've been going for walks after bedtime and enjoying the evening since I know MH can give N a bottle if she wakes up). I still need to sleep train, but I'm mostly confused about how to do it since we also need to transition her into her brothers room and I don't want to wake the neighbors in our building.. oh god tallb, that is my issue here. Dd is in DS's room now and I kinda do partial sleep training but can't fully commit bc I don't want to screw him over. Is there anyone else who's kids are sharing a room? I know flamingo is right now and starbuck was going to but maybe not anymore with a bigger house. If there's more people, I could have a thread just about this. Part of our goal is to get them in the same room again so I'd be interested in this thread too.

I know flamingo is right now and starbuck was going to but maybe not anymore with a bigger house. If there's more people, I could have a thread just about this. Right now, K and Wyatt share a room. She is a better sleeper than J. In a week, before we get pics of the house, we will move J into that same bedroom so that we can "reclaim" the master for showings. I am not looking forward to it. It is hard to coordinate nap times with W and K. W is not easy to get to nap and K isn't a picnic either. So sometimes W won't nap or I nap k elsewhere like in a bouncer. In the new house, J and K will share overnight, and we have a bedroom in the basement for separate naps. The 4th bedroom in the house is in the basement so eventually W and J will probably share a room until we are comfortable having one in the basement overnight. The basement is 50% finished so we need to get it safe, have a fairly responsible kid, and add a bathroom to make it complete.

Also, we tend to get K to sleep in our room and transfer her to her crib in W's room for the night once he is sleeping soundly. Sometimes the transfer wakes her and we spend a few minutes rocking her again in there until she is down. When she is pissed about being woken and screams, we retreat back out of the room.
It's a bit of a dance. The babies room sharing will probably be a little rough at first.

H ran out for a haircut and they were both ready for naps at the same time. But because they are so mobile and all over the place (and bc of my bum knee) I can't put one down (rocking them in the living room) and corral the other at the same time, the one going down gets distracted and cries and wakes. So I brought both up to their cribs and we all sat here. For like an hour. There was some whining, I'd pick one up for a few minutes, hug them etc and put them down and give the other one a chance. Hoping they'd fall asleep.
No such luck. Then H came home and came upstairs and picked up AB and started rocking him to sleep. Noooooo! Every time he'd fall asleep H would try to put him down and he'd wake up crying. Finally after a while he learned and kept AB in there and just let him whine a little with constant back rubbing.
AV was a little more upset. I, how do I say this, climbed in the crib with her and held her for a minute. That's all she she needed and she pushed off of me (her "let me down" voice) and I put her on the mattress and she went out cold in about a minute. I climbed out and she's been out ever since. Bad habit #3,142 BUT that's the first time she fell asleep in the crib (no rocking, no bottle). I'll try it again tonight and stay by her side until she wakes. I'll try again tomorrow starting for naps but won't get into the crib, only sit by it in the rocker holding her hand which she loves

Awesome kleigh!! Sounds like a great success! Eta: getting in the crib is a great idea, there was an N13 Mom who did it all the time, whatever works.

And I just got her down to sleep in the crib with no aide except singing and patting her bum.
6:15 start time... pray for me please.
AB, well, we'll work with him once she's mastered it. He is not having any of it. At all.

kleigh it's so freeing yet so lonely when they start needing you less. Hugs girl, you are doing everything right for her.

kleigh sometimes you just gotta try things and see if they stick! Maybe it was just enough to show her that the crib is a safe space to sleep! And yes, it's such a mixed bag of emotions watching your kid master something without your help but then sinks in that they can do things without needing you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How many naps are you guys doing? We are still at three. Two two hours and one one hour. They seem to need it.

But this week they've been fighting naps and putting longer awake time at their first morning nap (went from 2 hours awake to 3 (3.5 for AV). So this week has been 2 naps and early bed time, like this: 6:00 wake 9:00 nap 10:30 wake 2:00 nap 3:00 wake 6:30 bed

I should add that for AV she actually first wakes at 5am but tries to keep herself asleep (rolling around, fussing, tossing, settling, turning) for an hour before she gives up and "wakes" me up.

But usually we get 11 or 12, with 1-2 wake-ups. They go right back down after a rock or nurse.

My kid only seems to get consistent naps at daycare. It's a shame she can't go everyday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's the worst. At daycare she's a sleeping pro! Nap at 9-11 and 1-3:30. The daycare teachers say it's like clockwork and they never have to try to get her to sleep. The lay her down and she talks to herself for 5 mins, then rolls onto her tummy and just sleeps. At home she's all over; three sometimes four 20 min naps, sometimes it's just one two hour nap. I gave up a long time ago trying to make something happen. My only rule is she can't sleep after 5:30 or she won't be tired for bedtime at 830/9. L: 1, Mom: 0 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

M should be taking 2 naps. If someone could inform her of that.... Alright. This isn't very fair of me because her naps have improved greatly for the most part compared to what they were...or weren't. One 45-60 minute one in the morning two hours after walking and one hour to hour and a half in the afternoon 2.5-3 hours after waking from her morning nap. This week has been a throw away ever since her latest tooth started really working itself out. We're averaging maybe 1.5 total for the day and she's been a monster to get to sleep. (Refer to my FB post at 11:15 last night with a wide awake baby)

2 naps - 2.5 hour morning nap; 1.5 afternoon nap This is all at home. At daycare, he barely sleeps. Sometimes 1 30 min nap... the best he gets there is 2 1 hour naps.
