So far I read All Your Perfects and Ends With Us. Both dumb. I have a hold on verity so I will read that. I will try Ugly Love for you, just so I can be confident in calling her writing trash lol. Those probably were my lowest ones of hers too. I loved verity but it is one of those love or hate and no in between. It is eye roll inducing for sure. Cher don't read Layla. Or do, because it's... something. It's very WTF. Not quite Verity level WTF, a different type of WTF.

I DNF LA Weather. Knowing nothing else happens solidifies that decision for me.
I started listening to The Paper Palace. This is another one that seems to be VERY polarizing in my book groups. Some loved it. Some absolutely hated it lol. But it's grabbed my attention more than LA Weather did.

The only one of her books I haven’t read All of her books are on Kindle Unlimited, and I think most have the ability to sync with Audible for free or cheap, so I opted to read/listen for that reason. It's a doozy.

I want to fight everyone who raved about It Ends With Us. That book is trash. I ALMOST added it to my goodreads TBR list just this morning and then read some reviews from people who deeply hated it. The synopsis didn't grab me, either.

The best books I read this month were Dream Daughter and The Great Believers. Dream Daughter was a beach read done right. The Great Believers was about a group of friends in the AIDS pandemic in Chicago, interspersed with present-day Paris. Two totally different books and I loved both.

There are some books I loved that others hated, some that I hated or DNF that others loved. An example of a DNF for me was The Idea of You, but at least one of my FB book groups was ALLLLLLL about it.

I can think of a few that were spoken highly of here that fell completely flat for me. Under the Whispering Door and The Midnight Library come to mind.

My hold on Fight Night by Miriam Toews just came in. I've been waiting for it forever, but I'm being overwhelmed by library books right now! I'm going to have to shuffle a few things around on my TBR list. And I'm taking a break from placing holds for while 😅

Where’s Diordra been? I’m reading a truly awful historical romance that she needs to read too.

I read The Midnight Library from the suggestions here and fell flat for me too. Under the Whispering Door was good but I didn't LOVE it. I've read all the Colleen Hoover books and are they masterpieces? No. But I know what I'm getting into with her and they're always really easy speedreads and pretty consistent in that way that keeps me coming back.

I saw that The Essex Serpent is being made into a movie with Clare Danes. Reviews of the book are very mixed. Anyone read it?

I got a few chapters into The Guncle, and I gave up.
I’m really annoyed at how rude the uncle is to the poor kids who just lost their mom. It wasn’t cute to read about a 40-something who talks down to small children.

That’s part of the character arc, and I enjoyed it, but I have seen quite a few negative reviews of this book, so you’re definitely not alone!

A different premise, then I maybe would’ve tolerated his nature.

When I read it I could HEAR David Rose all over Patrick’s character. So the shitty attitude made sense in my head.

Speaking of polarizing views. I read Dial A for Aunties and loved it, even though it was completely ridiculous (Weekend at Bernies), but it reminded me of Jane the Virgin. Well, I must be too far removed from my Jane the Virgin days because I read book 2; Four Aunties and a Wedding, and oy. Some silly lines for sure, but I just was not feeling it at all. So ridiculous. Sooooo ridiculous. It has now left me feeling weird about enjoying the first one, since it was basically the exact same style.
It would have been much better for DAFA to be a one and done read.

Yeah I guess I was just in a different headspace or something when I read Dial A, because I 100000% should have had that reaction because it was s so crazy. This time I had that reaction immediately.

I haven't read the thread but I finally finished another book! The Collective by Alison Gaylin. I gave it 4/5 stars. It ended different than I expected and I can't decide if I like the ending in my head or the actual book ending better. But now I can start Jeneva Rose's new book One of Us is Dead!
