It's April! What books did you read in March? Any favorites? Did you try out any new authors? Any books you're looking forward to this month? What's your favorite reading spot at home?

I read 6 books in March and really enjoyed all of them besides Sundial. My favorite was definitely The Psychology of Money because it was such an enjoyable non-fiction and it wrapped up so many points I had read elsewhere in a smart way. I also finally was able to read a book by Adrian Tschaikowsky which I've wanted to do forever. This month I'm looking forward to The Impossible Us by Sarah Lotz, finishing some non-fiction books that I got last month, Stringer by Chris Pantier (it's being compared to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which is one of my favorites so of course I'm going to try it out), and Paula Hawkins has a new one, Blind Spot. At home I love to read while my boys play or in our sunroom. Sometimes in bed but the book has to be really engaging or I end up going on my phone instead.

I read 13 books in March. My favorites were The Beekeeper's Lament and Gone.
The Insect Crisis was just released and my library has ordered a copy so I’m looking forward to that. Hopefully I’ll read Swamplands. I bought it but I always get distracted with library books. If I don’t, I’ll enjoy looking at the cover for another month. It’s very pretty and I leave it on the top of my tbr pile.
I read in my living room corner. It has a wingback chair, giant old mirror, and antique torchiere. I love it. Or outside while the kids play.

It was a good reading month. I had a week off for the kids' spring break so got to read more than usual with 14 books.
I read My Friend Anna after binging the Netflix show. I'm absolutely fascinated; I could not put it down.
For fiction, I really enjoyed The Vanishing Half. Verity is a book I'm unlikely to forget, but I can't really say I liked it either. I was enthralled though; I read it really quickly.
I'm on an audible book kick of political-ish memoirs and I'm looking forward to continuing that this month. I have Project Hail Mary on my Kindle to read this weekend. Otherwise- no exact plans for April. I'll read whatever pops up in my holds list.

I got a lot of reading in this month but didn't super love anything. All solid reads though.
Hook, Line, and Sinker--4 stars The Suite Spot--4 stars If You Ask Me--3 stars The Charm Offensive--4 stars Triptych--4 stars
I think the Suite Spot was probably the best of the bunch. If You Ask Me was definitely the worst. I did read a few of DD's books I would absolutely recommend--Just Jaime and Becoming Brianna by Terri Libenson. Great subject matter for those kids getting ready to go junior high.
April is off to a good start with Fractured (Will Trent book #2). I should finish that today.
Lots of things to look forward to this month! The Younger Wife, Part of Your World, and The Wedding Crasher are all on my to read list and coming out this month. Now will I have time to read any of them? Looking at my calendar is very overwhelming.

Looking for recommendations from you guys. MH is currently reading a book about the history of voting. He tends to read financial/history books and complains that reading makes him fall asleep. When I told him I was reading a book about a kid with Asperbergers accused of murder, he said maybe he needs to read books like I read so he will be engaged enough not to get bored. I’m going to the library to get him something that might be a little more gripping than gerrymandering. But I don’t think Jodi Picoult is for him either. Any recommendations for a man-friendly fun read? I gave him Project Hail Mary last month and he loved that. So I will probably grab him The Martian but I wanted to pick up something else.

March was better than February, for sure.
The Lost Apothecary - 3.5 stars Under the Whispering Door - 4 stars Declutter Like a Mother - 3.5 stars (I always count these kinds of books, though I know others don't) The Love Hypothesis - 4 stars Perfect Little World - 4.5 stars
In progress: Will (audio) The First Husband (ebook)
My goal for April is to NOT PUT ANY MORE BOOKS ON HOLD!

Since I posted this yesterday evening, at the very end of the March reading thread, I am resharing my post/link about people buying ebooks, reading them, and then returning them. As a book lover, I’m so disgusted by this. I have been reading stories about indie authors who have already notice a change in their return stats since this started to gain traction on TikTok. “One indie author in particular had 110 returns of her book in one month and another had her book taken down from Amazon (thankfully it’s back up) for this and I am livid about it” For ebooks, authors have to cover a “delivery fee” for Amazon to be able to send you the digital book. If that book is returned, the author does not receive that money back. It is literally taking money out of their pocket. www.change.org/p/change-amazon-return-policies-for-completed-e-books-protect-authors-from-theft

And to go along with my other post, here is an IG post about the small pennies these authors make on book purchases, as well as other ways to help support indie authors. http://instagram.com/p/CTDcTAwpkWj

My April reads - 11 books this month. Now that I have started listening to audio books while running my errands and school drop offs/pick ups, as well as when I walk the dog or do chores around the house, the amount I’m reading each month has definitely increased, and I’m loving it! It’s been a great way to find more time to read, because my TBR list is ever growing and I want to read allllll the books.

Devolution by Max Brooks is definitely a bonkers page-turner. For more sci-fi, the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells is funny and engaging.

I read 8 books in March. I got off to a fast start and blew through the first 5 but then hit a bit of a wall and opted for podcasts more often.
Loved: The Storyteller by Dave Grohl Your Wound / My Garden by Alok Vaid-Menon The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas
Liked: Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata (felt so much like the Maid, minus the mystery) Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers A History Of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw (I LOVED her writing style, so beautiful, but man the plot fell apart for me at the end) Monday Morning Leadership by David Cottrell

Cher, MH likes sci-fi type books. They take him FOREVER to read, but it's the only fiction that has stuck for him. He's reading this book called A Memory Called Empire now; it's the first book in a series by Arkady Martine.

The only book I read in March was Weather Girl. I had a bunch of holds come in, but I just kept pushing them back. I wasn't feeling it for some reason. Weather Girl was good, though. And I started Hook, Line, and Sinker last night.

Cher, I love the CJ Box books. Murdery thrillers set in the mountains of Wyoming, with a very relatable dad as the hero. The last fiction I got my H to read was Andy Weir- he’s loved them all.
