And that's not an indictment of essential workers in any way, quite the opposite, I'm only saying some workplaces that employ essential personnel have testing, tracing and leave policies in place and some don't

The pediatrician kept saying he wasn’t sure if my 4YO would get vaccinated before he turns 5 in May and I refuse to believe that is even a possibility. 😞 Nope. Nope. I'm very frustrated. I'm so excited to get my almost 6 year old vaxxed, but my other two will be so far out at 4 and 1 years old 😭 Ugh, I don’t even want to think about what that means for the baby. 😭

I’m having quite the immune response to my booster shot. My arm pit lymph node on the shot side is so swollen. Yesterday I was achey and fatigued. Not too bad. Today I feel back to normal except the visible golf ball in my arm pit. I’m going to take some Advil now to see if I can bring it down. It’s not painful but darn annoying.

My hospital was doing bimonthly testing for a few months and then suddenly it was only the unvaccinated needed to - but there was no follow up if they didn’t do it. Most of my CWers didn’t even do it when they wanted everyone to do it but I did bc why not!! Sometimes essential workers are fucking dumb man. Sigh.

I am so mad at the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers for helping the virus keep on going. First I am mad that my kid was worried her dad would end up hospitalized because he went to get a Covid test because his allergies were so bad. He’s negative thank god. Then, last week I found out a friend’s dad got Covid. Well find out today that he had heart attack in the hospital and now is on ventilator and in coma. The man did everything right for 18 months - stayed inside, wore a mask, got vaccinated- and he’ll probably pass of Covid anyway. Finally, I get an email from the school district that the Let Them Breathe ghouls are not only protesting the school district bldg but schools too. They are trying to intimidate students wearing masks. I hate them so much. Gah!

In my area a anti-mask protest that took place near a district building, but also on the direct route a lot of kids walk to their grammar school, seemed to have backfired. If reporting and comments in both neighborhood social media and major metro TV and print news can be trusted, reaction was pretty negative and the protestors disappeared pretty quickly.
It was getting close to the children that seemed to riled up people on all sides of the political spectrum against the protestors, even those who aren't thrilled with mandates, etc.

Our official vaccine orders just came through. You must be fully vaccinated by Nov 22. If you are getting moderna, you have one week to complete your first dose. No word yet on how they are confirming vaccinations. I'm glad they aren't giving much wiggle room on the timeline, but it took a month from Biden's announcement until this letter, so let's just get on with it.

I feel for organizations having to track it for the first time. My work is in the business of doing so and should be seasoned due to other vaccine mandates and still struggled big time. My poor new hire got a certified letter to her house about being out of compliance and she had already submitted her vaccine information three times. My boss had to escalate it twice. That’s why I made sure to get my booster and flu shot from work so I don’t have to deal with that.

ETA or maybe not official... since there has not yet been a directive from HR, this is unenforceable even though it came the poof... I was just in a really weird meeting. HR guidance could come soon though.

The enro masks fit my kids perfectly! XXS for the 4 year old and Y for the large 8 year old. Thank you, everyone, for the recommendation. 🙂

sweetpea, I’m so sorry. That’s a lot. And that’s especially awful that anti-vax/maskers are targeting children now. That’s really messed up.

Admit I'd almost forgotten a bit about Astra Zeneca, but this drug sounds potentially very useful and a great addition to the toolbox as a preventive measure for the highly immunocompromised. ... The drugmaker AstraZeneca, one of the first to develop a coronavirus vaccine, is requesting that the FDA approve an preventative antibody COVID-19 treatment for emergency use. Approval would mean that the drug will be prioritized for people with compromised immune systems who don't get enough protection from the virus through vaccines. The Anglo-Swedish company said Tuesday that the treatment, AZD&442, would be the first long-acting antibody combination to get emergency authorization for preventative purposes.... www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/astrazeneca-asks-fda-to-approve-covid-antibody-drug-for-those-with-weakened-immune-systems/ar-AAPakIu?ocid=BingNewsSearch

Reps Katie Porter and Ro Khanna were briefed on kids vaccines A thread I need to hear more about Moderna timelines. Pfizer rollout in rural areas is horrible and has too many hurdles, leaving too many 12-18 year olds unvaccinated in the places with the highest case rates right now. I am also interested in the Moderna timeline. A friend of mine in CA has her (almost) 2 year old enrolled in the Moderna trials. He has been in the trail for a few months is now fully vaccinated. She said Moderna was doing their study in 2 parts...one for dosage and one for efficacy. They were in the dosing study and it has no blinds, the efficacy study does have blinds. I am still curious why Moderna wasn't approved in 12-17 year olds even though they submitted info to the FDA. Does anyone know about this or did I miss it somewhere?

PDQ We have to provide actual proof of vaccination. I had to upload my vaccine card, basically. We have a vaccine tracking "portal."

It’s been unblinded, but DH went to the last in person appointment, so he didn’t ask about approval timeline.

It’s a pretty interesting rundown of the covid vaccine development and all the players, partners, who jumped and who waited. It’s got a dateline sort of commentary which is a little weird but it’s an interesting listen.

Seriously 🤦🏻♀️ We just had our first sickness since February 2020 - we’ve been in masks/distancing since then and hybrid last year (7 kids in a class). This year all 3 girls are in public school full time (16 kids in their class) and masks not required at recess so I knew it was bound to happen. Thankfully it’s just a cold and all 3 have tested negative for covid.

She hasn’t been this sick since Jan 2020. But preschool doesn’t require masks outside - she wears her though, as well as a 4 yo can. Right now I can pretend that I’m in SF with the barking sound she’s making #sotired
