I just started A woman is no Man, and it is heart wrenching in the first half. I'm hoping there's some redeeming happening later. It's still a good and poignant read.

I finished the Wife Stalker today. It was decent, but not as good or as shocking as the Last Mrs. Parrish.

overboard so I ended up really liking How to Catch a Sinful Marquis by Amy Rose Bennett. It was really high quality (more so than some others Ive read recently) with good character development (strong female lead- no wilting flowers here), if not a little slow paced. Iβm looking forward to reading the other 3 in set. Iβd recommend it. ETA FWIW, this is book 3 of 4. Definitely going to do book 1 next π

I finished The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth last night. A good mystery is exactly what I needed to get out of my reading slump. I really liked this one! Very well written and a good page turner.

Iβm trying to read Girl, Woman,Other for book club but I canβt get into it. I think the style is hard to read and there are too many characters for my tired brain.

I struggled with this one too, had to stop it during a time my brain was struggling to keep pace. Went back to it a few weeks later when I wasnβt struggling as much and wow, just flew to through the rest. At times I struggled keeping the characters straight, but there was one thread through it all that you donβt catch at first, that once you do, and follow her, the book makes more sense. And the ending was just spectacular (for me at least). Once you get through, you see why this book won the Booker.

I finished One Last Stop. Loved it. It would make a good movie/Netflix series. It was just different enough from the typical contemporary romances I read.

The ending left me a little confused, but I was listening while doing work, so I think I'm going to listen to the last chapter again when I can give it my attention.

Iβve been in a bit of a slump but I just finished The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen. I really enjoyed it-easy to read thriller with some unexpected twists.

I finally finished Dead Dead Girls and it was a decent mystery, but it took me a while to really be grabbed by it. There were a couple of plot holes and for the first almost half, almost every chapter ended with a foreboding and foreshadowing line and it kind of annoyed me. I did love the main character Louise and would read more about her! I would recommend if you like historical mysteries-it takes place in Harlem in the 20βs.
Next up is Final Girl Support Group and I am very excited to get into it!

I finished up While Justice Sleeps and To Have and to Hoax over the weekend. I had high hopes for both, but they crashed and burned.
I really liked the DC references in WJS and the veiled political jabs, but the characters were two dimensional and the story was bogged down in a lot of technical details that just didnβt add enjoyment to me.
I loved the witty writing in THATX, but the hoax part was senseless Drama and the whole story was get back together, have a huge fight, break up again repeat. I could not.
The people we meet in vacation is up next and I have the next in the Amy Rose Bennett book started on audio.

Last weekend, I read Anxious People by Fredrik Backman and really enjoyed it. For August, Iβm going to read: In Five Years The Great Circle. In Five Years was really good. I really liked Anxious People too

I'm currently reading The Minders but John Marrs. I'm really enjoying it so far because the characters in this one are related to characters in two of his other books (The One and Passengers).
July I read: The Accidental Senator Still Missing (awful, I hated it) Poll Dancer (cute, light read) The Boy in the Photo Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (Really like Lisa See books) The Push by Claire McGowan (there's another book also called The Push by Ashley Audrain that I read in June) Dear Child

I finished Nightbitch last night. It was, again, one of the weirdest freaking books I've ever read. A SAHM thinks she's turning into a dog and also gets involved in an MLM. I didn't feel totally captivated by the plot (not a lot happens really), but the talk about motherhood in this one really resonated with me.
There was one scene at the beginning about her kid not going to sleep and how she has to lay in the bed with him every night. She talks about the rage that starts to build up over feeling like she's spending hours and hours of her life just laying in a bed trying to get a fucking kid to fall asleep and how that makes her want to punch a hole in a wall and OMG I JUST FELT IT IN MY SOUL. I don't know that I would recommend this exactly because, super weird. But it meant a lot to me.

It bugged me until I realized the main characters married at 18 YO. So many regencies have teenagers getting married, but donβt address the immaturity at all. I did like the second in the series more though.

I just got back with camping and no wifi. I finished up The Searcher and then it took me my entire vacation to get through A Court of Mist and Fury but I loved it!! I had fewer July reads but a few much longer books than normal.
July Reads: A Court of Thorns and Roses Shadow and Bone Every Vow You Break The Consequences of Fear This Naked Mind Secrets of a Charmed Life
I loved all of these book except This Naked Mind. I thought I would like that one more but I found it super preachy and constantly alluding to science but never actually presenting it, so I found that frustrating.

I really enjoyed Owls of the Eastern Ice! Jonathan Slaght is a gifted story teller. I couldnβt put it down. It was fascinating to see how the science evolved over the years since Slaght and his team were basically the first to study Blakistonβs fish owls in Russia. The blurb on the front is perfect βAn absolute marvelβ¦Part science narrative, part memoir, part adventure story, it is captivating, thrilling and beautifully written.β
Iβve been trying to alternate library book and books I own but my library list is just so tempting. Book decisions are hard!

I finished Radium Girls about the dial painters in the early 20th century and it was so good but also incredibly heartbreaking. Fucking greedy capitalists.
Before that I read Winter Garden and I really enjoyed it until the end, but I think Kristin Hannah just has a thing for pat endings.

I actually went to the library yesterday and picked out a book for myself! π±
I am starting with Spook by Mary Roach. For those of you on the nerdy side, I highly recommend her. Her book Stiff is one of my favorites. Her writing is funny yet educational. Non-fiction with a blend of humor and science.
