Well, for the first time since I started menstruating, I just had a 27-day cycle (I've had a few 28 days, but usually 30-35). Another anecdote to add to the mRna vaccine annals, and another small piece of evidence that I might have just gotten my 2nd vaccine shot, not the placebo. I usually get nasty cramps that I take Ibuprofen for and Tylenol doesn't touch them. Does anyone know if there have been studies done on Ibuprofen and Pfizer or Moderna's effectiveness? All I’ve seen is the request to not take ibuprofen or acetaminophen BEFORE the shot because it can affect your immune system response. I haven’t seen any guidance about not taking ibuprofen after the shot for other reasons. Pretty sure the CDC has a little graphic that says it’s fine. Found it.

Girrrrrrl. The number of coworkers on my unit alone that refuse the vaccine is infuriating to me right now. I keep finding out more and more. 😤 Our children's hospital is sitting at ~40% of bedside staff being vaccinated. I dont get it. 😳😖

Did I dream that there is supposed to be an update on the J+J shot today? Some kind of press conference?

You know none of this people have slept in the last 24 hours, working on presentations and the stress of it all. Godspeed. "On Wednesday, the full CDC advisory committee on immunization practices will meet to hear presentations about the safety data." from WaPo www.washingtonpost.com/health/2021/04/13/why-johnson-johnson-vaccine-paused/

I took a ton of ibuprofen after my second shot because Tylenol is worthless for me and I felt like donkey ass. You'll be fine!

Thanks, everyone! I'm feeling fine so far, but if my cramps are making me miserable tomorrow, I'll take some Advil. Just don't want my antibodies to be lower because CD1 came early and I wimped out on the pain.

Fauci said this morning he expects the pause to be days/weeks not weeks/months.

Just don't want my antibodies to be lower because CD1 came early and I wimped out on the pain. They put me on prescription strength aleve for 2 weeks and I have tons of antibodies. All the antibodies. Antibodies. You’ll be fine the doctors all just wanted to avoid steroids.

The nurse said after my first to take either if I get symptoms.

Is there a thought process behind why they think periods are arriving early? Is it something to be concerned with?

I got my second dose of moderna on the 8th and my period is 2 days late so far and I'm on the mini pill so it's usually pretty regular. I'm thinking stress but 🤷♀️ at this point.

Sorry it's him, but it was the first link I could find to stream the CDC meeting.

Is there a thought process behind why they think periods are arriving early? Is it something to be concerned with? I got my period off cycle when I had covid too. And then every two weeks for the next two months.. I assumed it was just stress related. My body was in stress and it triggered the period.

My 2 short cycles/early CD1 would be due to covid in the wild too, not from my first dose. I’m sure it will be one of those hindsight things we learn about covid in the years to come. It seems contrary to what I would think that after the stress of the disease O wasn’t delayed. 🤷🏼♀️ I will say that seeing that research link and our anecdotes here do make me pause and think about those women I know reluctant to get the vaccine because they worry about fertility impacts. To be clear, I don’t think there is a correlation, but I’m also trying to be sensitive and think back to myself when dealing with IF/loss and I probably would be weary of it too.

Welp, fever of over 101, chills, and aches again. Just hoping it goes away sooner this time. If this turns out to be the placebo, I'm going to cry.

Snapshot from the CDC presentation about the cases. There have also been 3 reported cases with moderna, but the platelet counts aren't low enough for them to consider it (this is what is unique about these cases- low platelets- which I guess is against the general of how these occur). I’m a little worried that with the blood clot immune response being further out than just a couple of days, more cases could crop up with J&J just getting going in the last week or so. But hopefully that’s not the case and it is indeed very rare.

I obviously did not have a blood clot, but I just pulled up my blood work and my platelets were flagged as being low when I was at the ER. That's curious. /sorry for my brain live blog

crimsonandclover I would think you have the real deal based on that. I know the placebo effect is also real, but that's a whole lot (ETA: especially both times). Fingers crossed for you.

This is so frustrating. If you told most people that there was a .0001% risk of a blood clot doing something other than getting a covid vaccine, they'd laugh in your face (someone with a history of clotting not included). The same people that quote a “99.9% survival rate” (which is very incorrect) for Covid are the ones saying “I told you so” with this infinitesimal potential clotting risk of the vaccine. I guarantee it.

H just said his offices are opening up 6/1 at 50% capacity and vaccines required.
I’m honestly shocked that they are opening already at that point. Although, I guess CA won’t have many restrictions as of 6/15 anyway.

Is that why giving heparin is such a bad idea? Yes, it usually causes platelet reduction. You don’t want your platelet levels dropping below a certain point* *according to the hospitals when I had low platelets in L&D with DS1 and DD 😅
