That case reminds me of an episode of CSI Las Vegas called Chaos Theory.
Funny how the kid mentions, the proximity of "tcnj" to Trenton and how the university tries to downplay that. I mean, they went so far as to change the name of the school to get rid of the word "Trenton", so he ain't wrong

This reminds me of the Unsolved Mystery with the senator(?) from DE who was found in the landfill. They think it’s possible he climbed in the dumpster and died. I vaguely remember the TCNJ story. How sad.

So many things in the world we will never have answers to.

Listening to Ruben absolutely refuse to answer questions about his work route is infuriating. My gosh. Like I can't imagine being the person questioning him?! GUILTY Ruben really got me with that bedliner though. That was too much. He went full Hilaria with the bedliner. “How do you say.... cucumber?” “WHaT iS a bEdLiNer?” Fucking asshole.

I finished the podcast. I had no idea about this case considering I was a kid when this happened. It's frustrating how much has fallen through the cracks by shotty police work/investigating. I am left with some hope with the recent task force and his interview (forgot his name) since there seems to be more going on behind the scenes such as sending evidence off to new technology.
The Coca Cola retelling gave me chills and gives so much more depth to how much of shitbag Paul is.
My main take away that has been bugging me: why would the family offer a plea deal/bargain and then withdraw? This feels like an admission of guilt. Accessory to murder and 6 years? I feel like just making the offer is an admission of guilt and it's been really bugging me.

Since a few people have asked... offers of a plea bargain are inadmissible in court. (I practice criminal law). It’s an old evidence code rule that is been around forever. Otherwise it would make it impossible to resolve some cases if a defendant was concerned that every offer or conversation around plea bargaining could be used against him. So that fact would be absolutely no help to proving a case in court.

I wish Kristin Smart had a subreddit. I know right? I keep checking. I feel like some real dirt on Paul would be given on an anonymous subreddit.

I'm finishing up the last episode of the podcast. I hate this. I feel like she's been buried on one of the Flores's properties for the past 25 years, just under everyone's nose.

Just finished the podcast yesterday. The Flores family are so, so guilty. How devastating for the Smarts. Also, I was so furious at the Australian exchange student who saw people struggling (possibly Paul and Kristin), and just rode past. Things could have been so different. I would have kept going and made a mental note of it and that's it. I don't call the police on anyone unless I know for sure something is going on. (Lifelong mistrust of LEO)

I just have to say okcammie's yard does not back up to Flores's yard. She was walking there and passing by from across the street.
I just had to address that loose info.

Just offering a plea felt off/odd since there were no charges being brought against Paul/Flores' at the time. It rubbed me as very odd in general. I have no idea how law works but it's one fact that stuck out in the podcast.

I was just commenting that it’s not evidence that could be used in court.

Yes, wasn’t part of the plea deal he offered to tell where her body is? I have zero empathy that his family is bothered by onlookers, has had their property searched, etc. Don’t want to live that life? Don’t be monsters.

He pulled his plea offer before the Smarts could respond right? That's so so awful. I can't imagine how they must feel having been so close to some answers.

I feel like Chris Lambert (the host) keeps it moving. He interviews people, but they have a purpose, like to talk about what a skeez Paul has always been even in high school or they were at the party that night. Not a lot of filler. I really hope you like the podcast.

My number one pet peeve of podcasts is when the podcaster talks incessantly about themselves and how this affected them. And like all the stories of him being a dick are interesting but let’s summarize, people and keep it moving. Get me to the evidence. I found the first episode to drag out with a lot of that, but it’s picking up now a bit.
