MIL and FIL’s appts for their second dose was rescheduled for 7:30 am Monday and Tuesday afternoon, respectively. Good thing they are retired and flexible, because going from back to back appts last Sunday to that sort of gap is a pain. FXthey don’t get pushed again. This will be 35/36 days instead of the 28 days recommended.

I need to vent. Our Board of Directors had their most recent meeting in our office on Monday and Tuesday and were all in the office for our virtual annual meeting yesterday. ~18 Board members and 5 staffers in one room, not socially distanced, and exactly ZERO masks for three days. Not one mask. I was in the office for the meeting yesterday and kept my distance and wore my mask but I was so disgusted. And we are supposed to go back to the office on Monday for two days a week. I just... I’m so sorry. I’m still so mad at Kim, but even more at employers not still requiring masks to protect their employees

Our HR lady was adamant all staff were wearing masks. They most definitely were not wearing them, she just wasn't in the room.

It really is crazy to me how fractured the country is on the most basic things during this time. I mean, of course there are plenty of mask deniers here but in public I have only seen one non-masked person since our mandate. I mean I will concede that I don't go into stores much but still. Compliance seems very good here. It's so bizarre to think of other places just being....open.

I got a text this morning to make my vaccine appointment - but then the website says (rightly!) that I am not eligible.
Vert the fork, state system??
I have no preexisting conditions and do not work outside my home so I was VERY surprised to get the text.

And I work with our board so my brain melted a bit reading that. I believe we have 10 states represented on our Board. That means people traveled from TEN fucking states to sit, unmasked, in our conference room. It was unbelievable to me. The last time they met, not everyone came and everyone wore masks. That was maybe 6 weeks ago.

I'm so tired of other people not wearing masks.
We were invited to a birthday meetup at the playground for one DD's friends. (It was supposed to be on Zoom and we said we were going, then got changed at the last minute to the playground since the weather was nice. I didn't want to disappoint DD or her friend by bailing at the last second, so we decided to go.) We wore masks, of course, but we were the ONLY ones other than one other family (DD's best friend and her mom) who did. I was shocked. We are in NJ in a fairly liberal area. I should have left immediately, but I didn't because of social anxiety/guilt/whatever. DD was having such a great time playing with her friends.
Now today I find out that one of the kids who was at the playground yesterday is absent from Zoom today because they are sick and my anxiety is through the roof (as is DD's best friend's mom). I'm hoping it is the same cold that DD had earlier this week (we did get DD tested for COVID and it was negative). Now I feel like I need to get her tested again (after 5-7 days).
The thing is, if everyone had just WORN THE DAMN MASKS, I wouldn't be nearly so worried. These kids have to wear masks all day in school so they are used to it. Why is it so hard? Why do I need to make the choice between my kid being a social outcast isolated from her friends, or taking risks with her health? It just isn't fair, and I feel guilty no matter what I do.

They may be wearing masks to comply with the mandate, but the masks aren’t covering their noses.

My dad just got an email that he was selected for a vaccine this week! He’s under 65 and WFH but he’s a health care worker (therapist) so I am guessing they are trying to go through all those people too. I’m so happy, that means only myself, my H and my youngest brother will be left in my immediate family (aside from kids of course).

Oh I forgot to tell you guys, BIL and SIL (the ones who think COVID is just an overblown cold) gave blood last week, and SILs blood had COVID antibodies. They have had multiple unmasked indoor family gatherings and parties and SIL is a dental hygienist.
I guess I’m just glad they didn’t kill H’s parents before they got vaccinated. 😠

I'm so happy to see this! And I'm happy to see the White House amplifying it. This is how we work through vaccine hesitancy.

Virginia people: can anyone tell me what the vaccination situation is like down there?
My 94 year old grandpa hasn’t gotten a vaccine yet. My mom says he’s on the hospital list but that’s it. Should I be pushing her to be more proactive in calling around? Checking with the VA? She’s sticking with the “they’re all out” and “we have immunity already” lines. I know supply is an issue all over but my mom and her h haven’t been taking the pandemic seriously which is how the entire household got Covid back in December. The closest city to them is Winchester.

I would expect someone in that age range to be getting the vax already.

They’re not doing it through the hospitals down here, you need to go online and register and make an appointment at one of the vaccination sites. No ones going through their normal dr. They’re about to get a bunch more down here—shouldn’t be hard to get an apt.

blurnette989 and 100poppies siiiighs. I figured that was the case and she was doing the least or not looking into it at all. I’m in an area that’s getting hammered for terrible vaccine distribution and even my 65 year old no health issues in-laws have been able to get their first shots. When she told me last night grandpa hadn’t received one yet I was very confused. Thank you! I’m off to harass her now.

Once your grandpa is on the state registry, he should be offered a vaccine very quickly since he’s in 1a.. vaccinate.virginia.gov/ CVS, Walgreens, and Safeway and some smaller pharmacies are participating in a separate federal program and are only vaccinated 65+. You have to register on their websites and keep an eye out for an open appointment.

Sign up for the state system and he should be contacted by the health department fairly quickly.

My sister is getting the J&J vaccine on Wednesday!! She's young, but is teaching in person 5 days/week. She also has asthma and an autoimmune disease. I have been so damn stressed about her. I might cry. This brought me so much joy. I’m so happy for you both.

My BIL and his girlfriend got their shots scheduled for next week.
I'm getting worried because they didn't schedule our second shots when we got our first dose and said our DOH would send us an appointment link for it. But when I login it just says there aren't any available so I'll probably call to figure out what to do.

My mom turns 65 at the end of the month and I wish I could get her pre-scheduled for a shot.
