New puppy is making me get allll the steps. 13k+ yesterday and more than halfway there today. She is the exercise I didn't know I needed.

I've been getting to the gym about 4x a week lately. Between the elliptical and the treadmill, I'm burning about 360-400 cals a workout, plus walking the dogs in the evenings. Now if I could just stop being an ahole about my diet, I'd be in good shape (literally and figuratively). I feel like I need a person to call when I want to eat carbs for them to yell at me.

It’s the end of the semester for me, so I’m struggling to keep good eating habits. Life stress is extremely high right now. But I’m not giving up. I’m going to try setting an alarm for exercise next week because the days are gone before I know it. It’s encouraging to see everyone’s progress.

I have been limiting my sweets this week. It is tough because little sneaky candy snacks are my go-to when I’m at home between meals. Not having any holiday candy in the house helps a ton.
I just can’t resist the seasonal sweets.

My Apple Watch informed me that it is international dance day, and if I do 20 minute dance work out it will give me a shiny virtual medal. So I decided to try a YouTube dance class and picked the first one that said “beginner.” It was a hip hop class, and it turns out my bike and plank muscles had not prepared me. Pretty sure I’m going to hurt tomorrow.
And my watch didn’t give me my shiny medal!

I ran outside for the first time today since December of 2019 where I wasn't either pregnant or pushing a 100lbs running stroller. So nice! My pace was decent, though slower than I typically like to be, so I have some work to do, but overall I'm happy.

Goddammit. The medal is for TOMORROW. I’m going to sway slowly in place for twenty minutes. Many, many of my muscles are already starting to hurt.

Got my stupid medal by doing the dance video again. Something good did come out of this... I now know I should never, ever, sign up for a hip hop dance class where people will see me attempt to do these moves in public.

How's everyone doing with your fitness?
After all of our Ruby drama last week, I got back to the gym yesterday and today. I bought an Apple watch to track my movement goals - dang, y'all. I have a toddler, I walk the dogs daily, I work at home so I'm constantly running to the kitchen - how is it SO HARD to reach 10k steps?!! I ran 3 miles today and I'm still only at 8,335 steps.
Also, dieting sucks. But I remembered that laughing cow cheese exists, and I've been slathering the garlic and herb one on celery and cucumbers and ahmahgah.. so amazing. Now if I could have someone slap carbs out of my hands, that'd be sweet.

Fitness wise I'm on my game. I've discovered I love doing yoga right before I climb into bed, so I've been doing that all week. Plus I'm still either running or riding and doing strength after school too.
My food is generally decent most days, but it's not tight enough to lose weight. I'm fact, the stress and sleep deprivation and breast feeding are totally bitting me in the ass and the scale has been slowly but consistently creeping up since I went back to work. I'm very annoyed about it. Some of my work pants did fit, but not so much anymore. I'm very "fuck it" about work right now and just giving up and wearing jeans daily. Don't care.
But yeah, working out about 70-90 minutes a day. Eating, meh. Water intake, on point.

lemondrop thank you for the reminder to check in! I think it helps a lot to report good and bad days, because I need the motivation for sure. I’m on a every other day mode. My H is going back to the office more now, and I feel bad running while my 3-year-old watches Mickey. It literally is 20 minutes but he usually starts talking to me at 15 minutes and I lose the momentum. As far as Apple Watch goes, it doesn’t catch my steps for pushing a stroller, or at least I think it doesn’t. I have gotten in the habit to turn out an “outdoor walk” tracking so my rings look right. Otherwise the pushing doesn’t register.

I've learned and become accustomed to pushing these things one handed. Give me my steps!

I'm at 4 or 5 miles twice a week. It's definitely getting to be summer - it's getting too hot to leave at 7. I may switch to shorter, more frequent runs over the summer.
I'm going to try to add in yoga a few times a week. I haven't been doing it and I can tell I could use the focus and flow.

Other than twice daily dog walks, I'm not doing much. My rower looks sad and neglected. But, I've hit my steps 12/14 days with those 2 days I didn't being a migraine day and a post-vaccine day. Altogether not too bad.
I really need warmer weather to be consistently here. We've bounced back and forth between 40's and 70's and my bones hate the constant flux. I'd love to get out and start bike-riding again.

I got 4 miles in this morning. We are just now sitting down to Brunch as a result but nobody is complaining because I made cinnamon rolls

Ls2012 I feel you on the warmer weather. It’s so hard to be motivated when it’s yucky or cold out. My goal for this week is to run 10 miles total. I usually do 20-25 minutes and get two miles between walk/running. I am hoping setting the week goal helps me continue the effort by the end of the week. I just didn’t myself so tired after the additional chasing kid action.

DH put on the covid 15 last year and his tricks/ramping up exercise that has worked in the past for him just aren't anymore- he used to be able to drop 10 pounds with little effort. Since I had good luck with Noom last year, I think he's going to try it- thinking that maybe paying for the accountability will help. I'm hopeful for him! Since I stopped Noom though, I can't give him a referral code. That seems unfair!

My best friend and I have been keeping each other accountable for every-other-day sessions on our exercise bikes. It’s been about two months, and it works well for me because it keeps me from negotiating my way out of a workout by pormising myself I’ll make it up later. Cause I’m a liar. Knowing BFF is doing it, I just do it rather than trying to explain to her that I skipped it for no reason 😁
The Apple Watch sucks at counting steps. I’ve been doing a walking challenge at work, and I finally got so annoyed I did a bunch of tests. It misses about ten percent of my steps consistently. It also bugs me that it only counts arm swings. I have to push a cart around from classroom to classroom, so I don’t get any of those steps.

Also i get a really weird map of my yard

I finally broke a 30 min 5k this morning! Took me a little over a month of semi-regular gym going. I'm pretty happy with that. I ate really well yesterday, and then bombed around 9pm with Tillamook Coffee Almond Fudge ice cream. I haz regrats. I've been doing ok today, but I still have ice cream in the fridge, lol

Woohoo for the 5k time lemondrop! Tillamook ice cream is so tempting and good. I have goals to go to the creamery next time the PNW is a vacation spot.

I was avoiding trying the brand because I knew I’d be obsessed - then the cheese went on sale, I gave in, and now I can’t eat other dairy. My H got the caramel toffee crunch and that’s fantastic, too. Fortunately for me he’s chomping on tortilla chips right now, so after I murder him I’ll have more ice cream!

I’ve started venturing a bit into the whole macros thing to work on balancing my diet more. It’s a bit overwhelming to me, but I’m looking at my carbs, protein, and fat because that’s a default an app I’m using goes to. I’m going to have to look into what the goals are and why. According to the app my carbs are very high (not a surprise) mostly because of my lentil soup for lunch habit (surprise!) and my fat is very low (surprise!) but not on days when I cook a proper dinner because I am heavy handed with the olive oil (not a surprise).
So I guess more olive oil in my life (yes) and less lentil soup? (Never!)
My protein is good because of my love affair with Greek yogurt. I guess I could switch to 2% to up my fat, but I don’t like it as much as the 0%. I know that’s weird.

How's everyone doing with working out/ diet these days?
I ventured to the gym this morning for the first time after the mandate was dropped, it was probably 98% unmasked. I was unimpressed. I know I don't need to wear one, but knowing like 50% of my community is vaccinated and almost 100% of people were unmasked... just FML. I picked a treadmill basically as far away from everyone as I could.

I need exercise and feel completely unmotivated.
But I've been religiously tracking what I eat, even when it's junky.

I’ve been doing well with the eating and being more mindful of my food intake.
Exercise is not great. A couple of sore days and now I’m feeling unmotivated also. I also am trying to cram a lot of projects in before the kids are officially done with school. It’s easier to get things done when they’re at school and I only have a week left of freedom.

Now that we’re vaxxed, let me know if you wanna go on a walk with me and my walk-loving dog! It’s like pulling teeth to get my family members to walk with me and I love having company. Offer stands for anyone in the DMV. 🙂
