If anyone is on the Peloton app, I'm poof. Feel free to follow - I'm.... not good... about using my spin bike. lol. *sob* (my H feels very validated about talking me out of spending the $2k for an actual Peloton bike/ clothing rack)

First step for me is to get back to doing yoga every day consistently. The baby is in the midst of a leap so her sleep was terrible last week. I'm still recovering from it which makes it hard to chose yoga over sleep. 😴

I’ve been trying to work out regularly on the stationary bike I bought in October. I’m generally on an every-other-day schedule, which is pretty good for me considering I was doing zero exercise before that.
I gained about 15 pounds during lockdown. My knees have started to hurt a bit and a lot of my clothing doesn’t fit. I’d like to get those 15 lbs off in the next five months or so, but my motivation comes and goes. I’m a major grazer, eating randomly all day, so I think my next step is to keep healthier snacks around the house so I don’t end up eating random carbs all day.

snowyowl, also a grazer over here. I just need more self control. My son barely eats besides "CWACKAHHHS" so there are so many carbs in my pantry. We had started eating the mediterranean diet back on 1/1, but that lasted a full week before my H was like mmmmmm no. (he gives up beer for 2 weeks and gets a six pack, so that MFer can shove it). We've been doing a pretty consistent keto-ish diet but I need to track and weigh out foods again. (I say this as I eat just a hotdog potato roll...)

Oh hai.
I'm very very overweight and my knees are mad about it.
I've been doing weight watchers since July but I've half-assed it and only lost 10 pounds.
So.

I say "only 10 pounds" because that is a minuscule fraction of the weight I actually need to lose.

Hi all! I'm pretty active in the motivational thread on GD too, but I will happily cheer on more people here as well! lemondrop Do you not enjoy the spin bike or is it more just the idea of having to get on and do it? If you don't like it, don't force yourself! It is so much more fun when you like it. I am obsessed with all things Peloton and have the bike, but I know that there are certain exercise classes/types that I don't like. I hate Yoga and non-bike cardio. So I just don't even try. I love the bike and I love weightlifting, so I stick to those. Also, I found once I really got into the habit, doing it every day (minus rest or recovery days) no matter what, I started looking forward to that time to myself.

Honestly, I just do better when I have to leave the house to workout. It puts me in a better headspace of like, ok, let's do this. I don't mind biking, but I also was a hardcore crossfitter for years, and I would 1000% rather back squat 250lbs for reps. Unfortunately I don't have the space (or the plates) to do that at home. Nor the motivation of doing it by myself.

He's a distance runner, and I'm 5'2 and don't run unless something is chasing me, so we just have very different workout styles.

I really liked WW as a tool for two reasons: it made me more mindful about how many calories I was mindlessly eating, and it helped me make more informed choices between foods I liked. For instance, I love creamy tomato soup and I love lentil vegetable soup. But once I realized one was significantly more points, it wasn’t a hardship to choose the lentil more often because I liked it just as much. But once I had those tools, I wasn’t motivated to use the app anymore. I don’t need it to tell me if I’m making a good choice anymore, I already know. I know some people find it useful as a long term tool, but not for me.

I shared in the other thread that I'm working toward a 60 minute run. I'm on week 8 of 10, and it's getting real. I'm working on losing 20 lbs. I often feel like I'm not a "real" runner, but I'm working on challenging that thought. Today's run is 2 20 minute sections with a brief walking break.

My goal right now consists of hitting 6,000 steps / day. It sounds pitifully small, but I literally go nowhere. Other goal is to drink 30oz of fluid daily.

lemondrop I get that. I avoided adding weight lifting into my home routine for a long time because I HATE our weights selection at home. I have one adjustable weight set that is just a pain because I don't want to have to adjust my weights every time I change exercises in a circuit -- I honestly don't get why people like them. I have those and then one 10 lb dumb bell set that I lucked out with at Target. Everything else is so marked up that I haven't been able to get anything else, and I don't really need light weights, I need like 15s, 20s, 25s. So annoying. But I incorporated strength back in with Peloton strength classes and while I vastly prefer weighlifting at the gym still, I have at least adjusted enough. Especially because the weights make such a difference in my goals. Anyway, I get it. Working out from home has been a weird transition. I've grown to mostly like it now but I do miss the gym.

My exercise goals right now are to get 180 minutes of exercise on my Apple Watch each week and to close my Move and Stand rings every day.
Does anyone have recommendations of an easy food journal app? I’m not looking to count calories or restrict atm, just to be more mindful.

I am also very active in the GD motivation thread. I'm a die hard runner who loves junk food.
I have 20lbs of the 45lbs I gained while pregnant that won't fucking budge. It's really pissing me off. I dropped 25lbs in two weeks and have literally lost nothing since.
I did a 60 minute peloton treadmill bootcamp this morning. I need to prep and cook a few things today and I just don't wanna.

I was going to do the Hamilton ride today, but just couldn't bring myself to do a 30 min ride. Instead I did a live 15min bodyweight strength class then a 15min stretch class. I've been doing every other day with rides and then either strength or yoga w/stretching and meditation.
For me I am all in the Anti-Diet Intuitive Eating path so I am fully embracing joyful movement. I love spinning, it kicks my ass, but brings me joy. I only started with my bike (not a peloton, I am app only) the beginning of January, but am happy to have been consistent thus far.

I will also say that having teeth aligners has been great for kicking my snacking habit, and I probably won't start snacking much between meals again once I am done with them in a month. lol.
But that is a very expensive way to stop snacking, so.

They come off on the 8th, thank the baby Jesus. Unfortunately I also work at home, so I can brush my teeth approximately a million times a day.

I know a lot of it is diet related. I haven't been very strict with my eating and I know to drop weight I need to. I can maintain fine eating in my happy balance of healthy and junk food, but getting down is always hard for me.
