I got the moderna vaccine yesterday. I felt weird last night, the world was kind of spinning and I was nauseated like when you drink too much; I was also super tired, so maybe it's unrelated. A coworker said she had a bit of a burning sensation in her hand, but it was gone by the evening. Quoting myself to say that I ended up testing positive for covid a week after my first vaccine. Dept of health said that my 2 dose will probably be pushed off for 6 weeks. We think mh picked it up during his in-person classes (his students don't have to tell anyone that they're positive, so no one is enforcing quarantine). Even though he and his students are masked, it was the most exposure either of us had around that time. Wait his students don’t need to report a positive???

My health systems occupational health reported out today that they’ve had more complaints of side effects from the first dose than second so far. They’ve vaccinated about 15K with both doses so far and I think that’s majority Pfizer just based on what we got first. So I’m feeling hopeful shot 2 will be ok.

And there's no contact tracing allowed at our university, so no one would even tell him that he had been exposed to someone with it. It's all self-report. When the health dept called us after our positive tests they didn't even push for any potential contact names (I had already contacted everyone I had seen during that week).

I know of someone with no underlying health issues who had a severe reaction to the Moderna vaccine. Not at all trying to deter people from getting one and it is rare, but he most likely can't/won't get a second dose.

I got 1st dose of Moderna 1/19. Arm was very sore for 1.5 days, then it went away completely. No other side effects.

I thought this was really interesting and captures data from v-safe. My second Pfizer vaccine was rough. I could check nearly all of the common side effect boxes. I was originally a placebo recipient on the Pfizer trial, but they unblinded healthcare workers and offered the vaccine.

Kinda fun to know what percentage I was part of for it.

Went into a fib and had to be shocked back into rhythm. Oh wow! 😳 How scary! I'm glad they're okay!

I haven’t posted in here yet but I got my second Pfizer the other day and only had a sore arm.
There were about 15 teachers at my school that got both the first and second dose the same day. Only 2 of us had side effects after the second. Chills, body aches and headaches (no fevers) and they started 24 hours after the shot and were gone within 12 hours after a nights sleep.

I got my second dose of Pfizer today. I was told if any side effects last 72 hours to call it in because it should be reported. So that’s good to know that anything that happens should resolve by then. I clarified if it was ok to take meds for a fever and they said yes.

Expectation is that side effects should resolve after two days, if employees are still experiencing symptoms, they go for a covid test.

I had side effects yesterday starting around 11 am - 17 hours after my shot. My stomach felt off and I was so tired. I basically could do like one thing and then wanted to lay down. I had a bit of chills so I took a warm bath and then laid in bed most of the afternoon. I was able to get up and do my lunch meal prep and cook dinner so it wasn’t awful but I went to bed early to sleep as much as possible. I feel better this morning. I have a swollen lymph node in my armpit on the side I got the shot which I googled and happens 16% of the time. ETA: I was able to get in a pretty tough workout in the morning so it wasn’t a complete waste of the day.

Oof. Hope you’re back to normal ASAP jaygee. The fatigue I felt with the 2nd dose was unreal. At least it was my weekend off and I just napped a lot but oof.

My district chose a few teachers to be vaccinated and I was chosen! I go at 10:00. Fingers crossed that I don't have any side effects. I have to go back to work after getting it.

Hi guys I'm jumping in on the last page so please just link me if someone has already discussed this.
I got my first dose of Moderna on 1/18. I had a very sore arm for the next day/day and a half and then felt fine. Over the last few days, my arm in the same spot has felt very itchy and then painful when I scratch it. Is this something you'd recommend calling my PCP about or just KOKO until my second dose in a couple of weeks? It doesn't affect my day, just an interesting thing I notice.

The explanation I was given (absolute no idea if this is true, despite the fact that I probably should know because I work in immunology, lmao) was that it takes 1-2 weeks for T cells to really work.

The same thing happened to me after my first moderna dose. Exactly a week later, I thought my arm was going to itch off. I then developed a welt at the injection area. I ended up with 4-5 welts on my arm that last lasted for a few days. I almost always have a similar localized reaction to the flu shot every year.

It also felt like a small bump/knot at the injection site.

So did 2 of my aunts and my cousin. I used some prescription strength cortisone cream and a cold pack, and it was better within 2 days. www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/heal-the-mind-heal-the-body/202101/what-s-the-new-phenomenon-called-covid-vaccine-arm%3famp

I feel justified now, callmekd. Dh is a PA and was doubtful that the reaction was because of the shot. I definitely sent him that article.

I was talking to some of the nurses who work in the clinic where DS2 does PT/OT, and they said anecdotally people seem to have fewer side effects with the second shot when they’re well hydrated. They’ve been recommending everyone drink a sports drink on their way to the clinic before their shot.

It is done! I got the Moderna. I felt a slight sting and my arm is achy. It feels a lot like the flu shot. I go back March 3rd for my second dose.

Exactly a week after my first dose of moderna I got a hard red splotch that itched and hurt. Went away the next day.

I’ve been telling everyone I know since they told me that. That’s what I figured- it’s worth a try and it would be good to be hydrated before a potential fever anyway.
