Bookshelves I’ve started Ethan Hawke’s book. If you’re a fan of his, it’s entertaining. Highly recommend as audio.

I read two historical romances by Evie Dunmore that I liked: Bringing Down the Duke and A Rogue of One’s Own. I think I liked the second one better, although both were good. A Rogue took me longer to get into, but I ended up loving the second half. They’re fairly traditional girl-meets-nobleman romances, but the female characters in both books are involved with the 1880s suffrage movement in England.

Yes I finished. It was just so all over the place and weird and I just blah. I am so glad I didn't pay for it. It’s a Taryn Fisher problem. The Wives—never forget! Yes! But usually I at least enjoy it. This one was a chore

My hold for Obama’s audiobook just came up, so I have a date with him indefinitely. Hah. I have the hard copy of that and will probably switch back and forth. I love Barack, but 29 hours 🤪

I finished The Wrong Family
I picked up You're Next. It is a YA murder mystery. I am about half way through.
I was looking at my library haul and right now I am not feeling anything I picked up a couple weeks ago. I may need to just return and get new this weekend.

It's my birthday today, and my BFF send me The Four Winds and The Other Mrs. as a surprise gift! I'm super excited because I am 280th in line at the library for The Four Winds. 😂

March books just posted for BOTM and there were quite a few I was interested in. I chose both Opal and Nev and The Lost Apothecary. What’s everyone else getting? I chose the same! I'm really excited about March.

Finished The Push last night, I really enjoyed it. I would give it 4/4.5 stars. I would love to see a sequel to the book.

I liked Bringing Down the Duke better by just a little bit. She’s got a 3rd one coming out later this year too.

I recommended these in December and had the same assessment, ha! I preferred the second a bit more as well. I can't wait for the next one.

i’m about halfway through lock every door. it’s probably been mentioned in this thread, but it has a very rosemary’s baby vibe and i’m liking that - i guess it shouldn’t surprise me since it’s dedicated to ira levin. i think i might put that on my list to read soon since i’ve only ever watched the movie. This is my favorite book by that author so far. I just loved the descriptions of the building and could really see it.

Is anyone else into self-help-y books? I finished The Power of Ritual last night. It was a DNF from a few months ago, but I picked it back up because it seems to keep coming up in various newsletters and people I follow. After I pushed past the long intro, it was actually really interesting. I'm definitely going to take a few cues from it with my own personal rituals.

I finished Dead Wake and really wtf to Woodrow Wilson hemming and hawing for 2 years after the sinking of the Lusitania to enter WWI. I think Erik Larson does a good job overall with his books but the front halves get bogged down in too much exposition. At one point in Devil in the White City I just started skipping over everything to do with the World's Fair. I read both of these I skipped most of world’s fair planning stuff in Devil in the white city too. It was a bit dry.

Fun fact, he was hanged at a now demolished prison in my neighborhood.

Oh good to know!! I keep seeing fb ads for some ap to read poorly translated Chinese novels that keep sucking me in because of the mess but they are so poorly translated that I just can't do it. Or if you’re wanting several there’s a series by Emily Goodwin called Love is Messy. I’ve only read the first one (hot mess) but it’s a single mom who is in love with her boss but then has a one night stand with his brother. OMG. I just finished hot mess. Twice Burned isn't available at my library on kindle so I'm going to buy it on Amazon. I hate reading on the libby app for some reason. But I loved Hot Mess. Definitely need to read the next one to find out what happens next. ETA moving this to the new thread

Yes, and Cassian is my new book boyfriend. Swoon. 🔥🔥🔥 There were a few plot weaknesses, but I overall really enjoyed it. I loved getting Nesta’s perspective since she was such an unlikeable character before.
