I’m giving up on that stupid surfing book. I usually love the books my friend recommends, but this was a miss.
I’m starting Utopia Avenue by David Mitchell, one of my favourite authors.

I’m starting All the Pieces Matter-The Inside Story of the Wire. H and I love the show, and he just finished reading the book so he wants me to read it so we can discuss. After that, I’m reading The Wives by Tarryn Fisher.

I started Take a Hint, Dani Brown yesterday. I bought it when it came out and it’s been sitting on my shelf. I told myself not to put any more library holds until I read through the books I bought in 2020. We’ll see how that goes.

I've skimmed the 2020 thread and NPR's top books of 2020 to get a good list going for 2021 books. I just started And I Do Not Forgive You. I'm not sold but will give it some more time.

I just added that book about The Wire to my list! I love that show (obviously lol).
My first book of 2021 is The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. I really like it so far! My final book of 2020 was A Promised Land and I need a quick read because that was so dense.

Blood heir by Ilona Andrews is coming out January 12th, and I can’t wait. I think I may have another book preordered for mid January, but I’m not sure - I’ll have to look.
I don’t know if it counts for this thread, but today I’m reading Ricamare Il Mare (English title: A Sea to Stitch) by Elizabeth Sforza. It’s an embroidery book with instructions in Italian and in English.

I am halfway through a book of Irish short stories called All Over Ireland that my mom gave me for Christmas. I've got another book of short stories on deck after that, by women writers from the North of Ireland. I figure I'll start the year off slowly with short stories, since I basically gave up on reading in 2020.

I just downloaded Bag Man and The Ronan Farrow audiobook. I guess I’m starting the year a little heavy.
I may look for a YA fun read to sprinkle in between.
I haven’t set my goodreads goal yet, but I’m thinking of keeping it at 80. I’ve at least got that each year that I didn’t have an infant.

I literally read all night last night, finishing the first Spindle Cove book by Tessa Dare. There were things I didn’t like but I really enjoyed the heroine throughout it and there were moments I laughed out loud. I’ve found that I can excuse more if a book makes me laugh out loud, especially this year.
I just placed an order for all the others but they won’t be in until Wednesday and my holds came up at the library for A Promised Land, One Day in December, and In a Holidaze so I’ve got to read those all first.
One nice thing the pandemic has given me is that I don’t have to worry about my book covers when I read on my lunch break!

I’m going to start The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue! I’ve been saving it for my first 2021 read I'm starting this one today too! My hold finally came in a couple days ago. I also got Anxious People. I'm really excited for both of them! I need to figure out how to update my reading challenge for 2021 on goodreads.

Hello! I’d like to follow this thread for recommendations.
I’m about 2/3rds of the way through anxious people on audio and about a quarter of the way through Mrs. Everything. I’m really enjoying both right now.

I bought it for my BIL for Christmas and he read it over the course of a few days-he said it was an engaging read. So then my H and I had to buy it on our kindles! ETA they had the kindle version on sale for $4.99 the other day.

I haven't had much time for reading and I don't see that changing anytime soon but I'm working on reading Driven to Distraction. It's about ADHD and surprisingly interesting! After this I'll pick a fun read. I need to get back to reading regularly again.

Happy New Year!
I set my Goodreads goal this morning for 50 books. It was my goal last year, too, and I ended up with 90, but I’m hoping that things will be more normal-ish sometime this year and I’ll have a little less time for reading!
I’m about halfway through Sharon Bolton’s The Split and it’s pretty wild, even for her. I think I like it? But we’ll see how it plays out. I’m thinking I’ll read Tarryn Fisher’s newest thriller next.

I really wanted to finish the book I was reading by the end of 2020 but alas, I’m half way through. So starting 2021 with the second half of Die Again by Tess Gerritsen
