Eames I’m sorry you got positive results. I am so amazed at the differences in severity with cases. Thanks for the reminder to get tested even for mild symptoms. It really can make a difference in limiting the spread.

Virginia governor and his wife tested positive for coronavirus. It was just a matter of time, I suppose?

I understand when idiot governors get it because they don't take precautions. I am surprised that Governor Northam got it. I hope they're ok.

I’m sorry Eames. I woke up extremely congested, and my H made me breakfast where I realized that I can’t taste or smell anything. So a fun new symptom today!

Eames,if you don't mind me asking, can you describe the particular achiness? what led you/your doctor to pursue testing? Sure, I don't mind! My shoulders and neck felt stiff and sore. I think the fact that my husband had chills and just the level of our exhaustion made me want to get tested. Although we are always tired (because young twins), this felt extra.

I'm at the doctor for a sinus headache (day 3 of it) and I screened positive (sore throat too) so I'm assuming I'll be tested. FX it's negative. Not sure where I'd have gotten it. I barely go anywhere and MH gets tested weekly at work and is still negative as of Wednesday.

I just had to go pick up N from daycare because he had a particularly bad case of diarrhea and they aren't taking chances. They (and his pedi, I called when we got home) that as long as it improves over the weekend and he doesn't show other symptoms, he can go back Monday. Blargh. On the plus side, we were going to start potty training over Columbus Day weekend, but his teacher let me know he's been asking to use it and today he actually did a little. Looks like we're starting this weekend, then

Well, this sucks. My husband and I tested for some very minor symptoms to be sure (runny nose, achy), and we are both positive. I can't believe it. It's made me realize how easily this can spread, because in a normal year I wouldn't have hesitated to go to work, even hop on an airplane. No fever, etc. Hopefully we stay this way. The kids have been mostly fine. My 5 year old had a runny nose and was tired enough to nap on Sunday. That's it. I can't believe it. Their pedi just said to quarantine them with us. So my recommendation is PLEASE TEST for minor symptoms. I'm so glad we found out, hopefully we haven't spread it because we've been pretty cautious. I have no idea where we could've got it from. I hope it stays mild for everyone and you feel better soon. I got tested for what I would have absolutely chalked up to a mild cold. I am anxiously refreshing my patient portal for results. So far have tested negative for flu and strep.

Oh man eames! It’s crazy to me they wouldn’t test your 5yo. Prayers for an easy and quick recovery! I know. I think she's basically presumed positive and the treatment would be the same either way (quarantine, rest, fluids), so maybe they figure it doesn't matter? What's crazy is that no one has called us to do any contact tracing. We made our own list and called everyone ourselves, people are asking me what they need to do, and... I have no offical instructions. I am telling them to quarantine and get tested to rule it out, but man.

Eames, oh wow! I'm sorry to hear it, and I hope things stay mild. How do you think you picked it up? I'm honestly not sure. Our twins are in daycare, but no one there has been sick. They are all testing now. Other than that, the only thing we did in the exposure time frame was... Target or Aldi? I'm at a loss. It's crazy.

It helps me to read/hear accounts from people who have or had it to know what to look out for. Some days it seems like literally anything could be a symptom.

4PrivetDrive this is purely anecdotal, but it does seem that people who lose their sense of smell tend to have milder cases overall. I'll cross my fingers that it's the case for you. I'm sorry about the new symptom, nonetheless.

I've followed r/COVIDpositive on Reddit since about April (not super closely because it would probably convince me I had it every darn week) and have not only seen some patterns emerge myself but have seen other users discuss patterns and trends they have noticed. IDK if you'd be interested in something like that but it seems like a pretty supportive board for those going through it.

I cannot navigate reddit, it confuses the hell out of me. The one that stood out most to me was that those losing their sense of smell seem to have less severe respiratory symptoms. Not always, of course. There seems to be a loose correlation between people in their 20's whose first symptoms are cough/shortness of breath and long-haulers. I don't feel like I see a ton of people with both the weirder neurological symptoms (buzzing, zapping, vertigo) and digestive problems. The neuro stuff seems to linger as an after effect of people who have the standard cough/fever/sore throat when it does happen. Enough people have reported improvement in symptoms with vitamin D usage that I've considered keeping some on hand just in case.

There was just a story here about CDC and state officials who are trying to do COVID surveys and outreach in rural MN being called racial slurs repeatedly. To the point where they’re considering only sending white teams out.
I think I’ve finally become comfortable saying “fine, enjoy coronavirus then.”

I have had similar thoughts when I consider the rallies and the fervent supporters of Trump.

I lost my sense of smell/taste with mono earlier this year and for two weeks I couldn't taste anything except acidic foods. And they tasted like quarters and battery acid. Awful.

This was one of XH’a symptoms and he said it was awful as well. I’m sorry that was your experience as well.
