I’m positive and my 6 year old is also positive. 😖 Oh gosh, I am so sorry. I really hope it's mild and you both bounce right back 😞

Hi, I'm coming up for air! School is crazy busy, and my stupid phone won't load pages with a lot of Twitter embeds and the like. My district has proposed a plan where K - 5 students are back full time everyday as of mid November. Which means there will be no social distancing. Our 4th and 5th grade classes have 30 kids. Our governor said that K - 5 could do this as early as next week. Masks are required but still. I am so fucking pissed. I will be writing all the emails as both a parent and teacher. Our hybrid plan had our kids broken into 3 cohorts so that they could social distance on the bus and in the classrooms. I really thought they were being as safe as possible.......and then this. We will do 1 round of 3 cohorts and then school for everyone if this plan passes. Can you imagine the 2 weeks after Thanksgiving when everyone has sat unmasked across from the families stuffing their faces?!
FOR THE CHEAP SEATS: I don't care how low the transmission is between kids (and it's not as low as everyone thinks), when the teachers get sick and/or have to quarantine there are ZERO subs who are going to step foot in a Covid-positive classroom. So while virtual learning sucks for everyone, and really hurts our neediest kids, no teacher at all is really gong to put everyone in a bind.

doublestuf Good to see you! I hope a lot of feedback changes that plan for you guys. I just don’t see how returning to all in person right as flu season hits and before all the holidays happen would be a good idea.

Our district went hybrid last Monday for pre-K-5. We had our first positive case reported yesterday which was a student and 14 other students and 4 staff members have to quarantine for 14 days. Today there is another student that tested positive at a different school so more students and staff to quarantine.
Cases were expected but we aren't even two weeks in so I'm curious what the next couple of weeks will bring. Dd1 is still virtual but my nephew went back. Thankfully none of the cases are at his school but I figure it's only a matter of time.

Our kids are definitely virtual through at least November 16th. I didn't really expect anything else though.

The cold virus in our area is a severe sore throat and super congestion. It hits hard and fast but seems to be gone in about 72 hours.

We hit 500 new cases today. We’ve been at about 250 for the past month. So you know it’s going great here.

Hope you get fast results piratecatWe were at the hospital with my son getting X-rays. We were the only ones in masks. Although a perk of that is is that people stay away. While we were there they also were pushing beds with elderly injured people through the hallways. The staff that was pushing the beds and leaning over the heads of the patients didn’t even have a mask. I know I shouldn’t be surprised anymore, but I was horrified. Meanwhile several of our Idol contestants have tested positive which is not surprising as the photos from the season they are currently filming show no social distancing at all. And lots of singing.

Well, this sucks. My husband and I tested for some very minor symptoms to be sure (runny nose, achy), and we are both positive. I can't believe it. It's made me realize how easily this can spread, because in a normal year I wouldn't have hesitated to go to work, even hop on an airplane. No fever, etc. Hopefully we stay this way.
The kids have been mostly fine. My 5 year old had a runny nose and was tired enough to nap on Sunday. That's it. I can't believe it. Their pedi just said to quarantine them with us.
So my recommendation is PLEASE TEST for minor symptoms. I'm so glad we found out, hopefully we haven't spread it because we've been pretty cautious. I have no idea where we could've got it from.
