Add me to the list of those who do basement workouts. We also have a mitigation system. It’s literal purpose is to make the basement safe to use, and we indeed use the basement frequently 🤷♀️

Speaking of basement workouts, today was a lower leg strength day and I followed that with a quick 15min ride to loosen things up. I have no idea what’s on the menu today. It’s still gorgeous weather and I want to eat all the yummy fall foods.

I didn’t get a chance to work out yesterday so am planning on doing something today. Maybe checking out the new barre class and doing a short run workout. My H has been “fixing” the master bath shower for the last week, and I find myself less motivated to work out because my routine is all messed up. Our peloton bike is coming next week, so I’m hoping that gets me excited to work out more.

We swam all three weekend days, ran a 5k on Saturday, hiked yesterday, as well as 30 min of Yoga yesterday, and 20 min this morning. Planning a run today, too.
I think I am going to track calories for the rest of this month. I'm just feeling kinda blah, and think I might be snacking too much, or choosing snacks that aren't helping me at all.

Yes I’m going to ask if there’s any reason aside from the mitigation system that he’s not into it. He didn’t forbid me he just said I wouldn’t if I were you. Which is like foreboding or something. I’ll figure out what he means. +1 to everyone else. Our workout room has always been in our basement and I’ve been running down there for 9 years. I’m ok so far! Do/did you have radon? I think that’s the thing. It’s mitigated but he might still not be comfortable with it. I’ll see.

I thought it was mitigated but not completely eliminated, just not the levels it was. I was in real estate when we bought the place and that’s how it was taught to us. I’m going to ask him if it’s a level thing. Otherwise I’m going to look for a used one.

I really truly don’t give a shit about a number on a scale but I’m grumpy about how my tighter workout pants are fitting/looking right now. I’m keeping my workouts consistent but slacking in the nutrition department. Today in bootcamp Jess mentioned something about if you’re asking more from your body you need to give it more [stretching, self care, nutrition, etc.] and I felt that in my bones. So I’m going to keep trying to fuel my body instead of feed my emotions. This is completely random but it’s been weighing on me a lot recently as the stressors in life seem to keep piling on. This is the reason I have added yoga at least 3 times a week to my schedule. I needed the stretch sooooo bad! Plus that calming effect on the mind.
I really need to do this.

daisyduck , I need to know about these taco cupcakes. In a (greased) cupcake pan, layer: Wonton Wrapper Taco meat of choice (usually we add onion to ground beef), and seasoned as desired Beans Cheese Repeat layers. Bake at 350 for ~15-20 minutes, until the edges of the wonton wrappers are brown and the cheese is bubbling. Top with lettuce, sour cream, guac, whatever.

daisyduck is the meat cooked when you put it in the wonton?

daisyduck is the meat cooked when you put it in the wonton? Yes. But leave it slightly undercooked as it will finish cooking in the oven.

Because if you’re not worried, I think it’s completely ok to say “this is important to me and I’m doing it.” You’re asking to put a treadmill in the basement, not build a meth lab or something lol.

I had a really good weekend with balance of food and working out. I mentioned that I kind of hit a plateau with no scale movement for a week so i decided to change things up a bit. I was doing a spin class every day and then a core and some kind of strength as well. I never took a rest day and I know I should. So Friday I skipped spinning on Friday and on Saturday my DH and I played golf. I walked the course so i figured that was a good alternative to spin. Last night I did do Jen Sherman’s 45 min Yacht Rock ride which was more fun that’s i thought it would be . Hit a PR for all the indicators and felt great. End result was I am down another 1.5lbs and feel like the shift in working out helped.
Now with Barre, I’m going to add that in to my workouts as well.

I’d only have concern because when we bought the place I was in real estate and were taught mitigation isn’t complete elimination it just brings it to a healthier level. Like not living down the basement safe, but no one in the house gets sick safe. If we were taught wrong then yeah I’ll be happy to have one and use it down there. I will call the radon company or just google first and talk to dh to be sure that is what his hesitation is.

I ran further than usual over the weekend so I took a day for yoga today, 30 minutes with Chelsea. Felt great! I’ve been having so much less trouble with stiffness since I’ve been making an effort to stretch more intentionally. My sister is going to be quite smug when I tell her, she’s been telling me to do more yoga for years.

30 min must boot camp with Olivia done. No official workouts over the weekend, but a few mile bike ride with the kids Saturday and a family walk yesterday. Scale was up 2lbs because.. wine. Not worried.
Food today will be good- Scrambled eggs and half a mini bagel for breakfast, salad with leftover grilled chicken for lunch, and roasted chicken thighs, sweet potato and Brussels sprouts planned for dinner.

I’m going to find out if that’s the reason. And he actually doesn’t want to live here anymore but I don’t want to move.

My eating and drinking this weekend was atrocious. And the scale is a lovely reminder of that.
Today is planned out. Need to get some water this afternoon. Then more death by front squat and FB bar bench tonight.

canteverremember the radon mitigation system should prevent radon from building up in your basement. Radon is naturally occurring in soils and can come into your house through the foundation. The risk in basements is that radon can build up to higher concentrations since there’s not as much adequate ventilation in a completely underground basement. The radon screening levels are based on the risk of developing lung cancer, but are very conservative and based on lifetime exposures and even at the screening level, of you are not a smoker, your risk is still very low. If it were me, I wouldn’t really worry about going down and working out for like an hour a day especially with a radon mitigation system. If the fan is working it should be doing its job.

OMFGGG. I am screaming because peloton is releasing BARRE CLASSES. Ahhhhh Well, I was going to cancel my Peloton subscription because I’m doing Zoom classes but between this and wanting to do the crush your core program it looks like I’ll keep it for at least another month.

just throwing this out here; i feel like you all are jumping down canteverremember's throat on this. she said she was going back to talk to her h. can we just let her go back and talk to him before everyone jumps on this? let's not look for an issue to beat to death until there is one.

Happy Monday!
Good workouts today. I did Olivia's Classic Rock ride from Friday and that was probably the most fun I've had on the bike in a long time. If you like being out of the saddle I highly recommend. If you don't then avoid because probably 60% of the ride is out of the saddle with a lot of isolations. I refuse to accept that Guns and Roses and Billy Joel are Classic Rock though. Hmph. I followed that up with Tunde's arms. Um what the heck. I needed multiple breaks. I was going to try Barre after that but DH and I went out for lunch instead (burrito bowl with pork, lettuce, avocado, rice, and beans. Was yum). I'm so excited it's finally patio weather! Cooler weather helps my mental mood so much. I hope we've seen the last of summer (UO I know but if you've been temps over 95 for the last 4 months you'd wish it away, too).

I didn't realize the Peloton barre classes were already on demand. If any of you guys take one, please report back! I used to do barre way back in the day. It wasn't my favorite, but I am down to give these a try.

Looks like Rebecca is doing a 45 minute strength class next week. Nice! That may kill me. Peloton is really stepping it up. Best 12.99 a month I spend.
