I do not see why they can't make masks mandated in schools. Im in a mask mandated state and was at the amusement park this morning with DD. Everyone older than 3 was wearing a mask, and the majority of kids between 2 and 3 were too. This was outside, in the heat, for hours. Was it comfortable, no. Would I rather not have to wear it, yes. But it's possible for the MAJORITY of children to wear them, with little fuss. What do you mean by amusement park? Like kiddie rides and rollercoasters? How on earth is there any amusement park on planet earth open right now? I can’t even let my kids go down the slide at the playground and my *country* has had 67 new cases this week. This is not AT you shelia I’m just in actual shock. I think every state and country have different standards for gauging how well they are doing and what they consider risky. I will say that Korea has been pretty aggressive and cautious but most businesses, including amusement parks, were never closed, even during the worst of their outbreaks. But they also have very high mask compliance and rigorous testing and contact tracing.

Just adding another anecdote to show (most) kids can wear masks. I have DD at the pediatric dentist, and all the parents have to wait in the parking lot. So I'm seeing all the kids go in and out (some quite small) with their little masks. No one is complaining, crying about, or pulling at their mask.
We got here a few minutes early and I turned the car off. DD (almost 5), put hers own without me saying anything and kept it on for a good 15 minutes in the warm air with zero complaints. I used it as a chance to explain that when she goes to Kindergarten, she will need to wear too.

Channeling his inner Anna?! I don’t know her. Is that a Frozen thing? Yes, from Frozen 2. It’s a song she sings when all seems lost. (Sorry, I’m now the annoying mom of toddlers that makes Disney references)

The recent rise in cases just reiterated that we haven’t learned anything from history. A quick search into what happened during the Spanish flu clearly showed how lifting restrictions early only had negative results towards fighting the virus. I told my DH when places started opening around Memorial Day that by the 4th of July we’d be in trouble. Well...lookee here. I’m no medical expert but I have common sense. Kinda wish our Leaders did too.

Idk if I buy that but we’ll see if there’s better compliance as the Gov re-closes things.

We went to a small local zoo today and the kids were great about wearing their masks. Even though a lot of the other visitors were not.

We set a new record here today with over 2000 new cases. Such awful timing before the weekend because people can't possibly be bothered to do low risk things. I really wonder how many people check this stat.

The fairground near my parents’ house has had to cancel all of their events this summer, so the local food vendors ended up getting together and organizing a drive-thru fair food fest. I’m so excited to hit them up and get some funnel cake in my belly this weekend!

My 5 year old has been wearing hers for 6 hours a day at summer camp this week, can put it on and off no problem and hadn’t complained about it once. The 10 year old has been doing the same at a fully outdoor camp in 90 degree heat with no problem.

I’m so excited to hit them up and get some funnel cake in my belly this weekend! One of the local state fair food vendors here has been doing Fair Food Fridays. At first it was just a drive through pick up deal but now they’ve added socially distanced picnic tables and live music during the pick up times. We haven’t done it yet but plan to soon. You can pre-order online to make it even quicker.

We’ve gone hiking with one 2YO, two 3YOs, and one 6 YO and they all did amazingly with their masks when we had to pass other people. I want to spam those idiots whining about masks with pictures of these adorable toddlers wearing them with nary a peep.

Today was DD1's first anxiety therapy appointment back in person. I was worried about it because her separation anxiety has been high and I couldn't go in with her. But she could have cared less. She put her mask on and happily went to her therapist in the parking lot. I told MH she was probably so happy to see someone new other than us.
Her therapist said she did great and didn't fuss with her mask at all.

Also I feel things are going to get bad in my state these next few weeks. Yesterday was our second highest new cases reported and we beat that today. And a drive through testing site in our metro had to close at noon because there was already a 4 hour wait. There were 200 cars in line by 7am 😬. They went from testing an average of 300 people daily to 800 daily this week. I'm glad people are getting tested but it's worrisome that so many more people are needing to get tested.
A few weeks ago we were under 100 new cases and even had a day with zero deaths. It's so frustrating that we are where we are now. And I am so worried about how things will be after this weekend and all the parties and get togethers.

I think if you ask most kids, "would you rather try home school again or go to school, but you have to wear a mask?" they would choose mask. It's all about mindset and I can't deal with the whiners anymore. I literally asked my 7 yo dd that and she instantly and unequivocally chose school + mask. I poised this question to my DS and he said he would wear a mask and go to school with no problem. Most of his friends say the same thing. This may be because they are seniors this coming school year (😭 I have no idea how we are already here) but they are already stressing out about all the extra senior stuff being cancelled this year.

NASCAR has its first positive case in a driver. And it couldn't be a bigger name: Jimmie Johnson, 7 time champion. Apparently his wife started exhibiting symptoms and tested positive. He's currently asymptomatic (though could still be in the incubation period), and can't return to racing until he is asymptomatic and has tested negative twice in a row, with more than 24 hours between tests.

I thought this was a good graphic.
And an update on us, she is covid positive so the whole house is considered positive since we are all symptomatic. All we can do is wait and see if we get worse. But the kid who was tested is already getting better so that is good.
