vino what's your gnome named? I would also be annoyed by the American maskholes illegally crossing the border. I feel bad for the teachers this fall who are going to have to deal with the kids of the maskholes. Because they won't have trained their kids to wear them the teachers will have to deal with it. Well that is one of many gnomes that I’ve got. The story is that MH hates them and grumbles whenever I went to buy them, so I did what any wife would do and wait until he left on tour last time in 2017, and bought ALLLLLL the gnomes. We’d chat on skype and B would tell on me to him every time, it was hilarious. That specific one has a sign that says ‘go away’, it was originally in the front yard then my Mom and husband were all, thats not nice move it 🤷♀️, but I think it suits me perfectly 😉 A hates them too. He thinks they look like this old man we know named earl, so he always waves and says "hi earl" my last one broke. I havent bought any for this house yet.

tallb, I think I’m hesitant on ordering things because I know that it’s not easy to go out and return them. So I don’t want to take chances on ordering things like rugs or curtains (or canvas bins in today’s case) that I can’t really see the colors or feel.

I have a snake plant that lives in my house. 2 things: you could back off on watering a tiny bit, fungus gnats thrive in moist soil. Or you could top dress your pot with a layer of sand which would also deter them. I have sand! I’ll try that and also stop watering. I thought once a week was conservative. Lol. I have a fig leaf plant, and two others that in not sure what they are. Just smaller ones that live on the console and built in. House plants are very low maintenance from what I’ve read. You don’t need to water unless the soil feels dry or if the plant looks wilted.

peachsmama are they not social distancing in your state? Just curious since you're talking about parties and stuff. I say that as I sit here in Austin reading that they are going back to toilet paper limits and shutting everything back down. This. Hearing some talk of going to stores with their family, parties, businesses etc just blows my mind. My province,4.3 million people, had 69 new cases yesterday and my neighbours, friends family and I were like, ummm ya we’re staying in isolation for a while longer. They are doing aprox 7k tests a day which are open to everyone. My disclaimer is that I know not everyone is like this and/or has the privilege of just staying home but if I can do my part I absolutely will. It’s interesting to me how different govts and people are going through this. If only we had a responsible leader...

Everyone here is pretty much back to normal. I wear a mask when I go out (the girls too), we have limited contact with who we see and keep our distance from others as much as possible. 90% of my shopping is done with target drive up. DH does all of our grocery shopping.

I really don't miss shopping minus a Costco run. A couple times a year I like to go to interesting boutiques or specialty shops, but most regular shopping I prefer to do online. I'd much rather relax at home than go to 3 different stores. Although when we're in my hometown which is much smaller with way less traffic I'll shop more because it's easier to get around.

It will surprise no one that I’m a homebody. Even before COVID I did the majority of my shopping online & the only reason I go to stores is to return stuff. Lol.
I’m a big hell no on get togethers or parties though. Too many stories in Texas on outbreaks at parties.
I get that each area is different though.

I totally forgot about having the extra kids tomorrow until their dad texted me. So my plan of playing on my cricut all day went out the window. Oh well, I'll play Tuesday.

I miss shopping in malls terribly. I hate online shopping for clothes. I’m very particular about how stuff fits so I used to go try on like 100 things and buy maybe 5 of them. This was my favorite activity during my extended maternity leave. The mall I loved though pretty much was running out of stores because they were all closing since I’m the last person on earth who was still going there. Tonight I ordered 4 bathing suits from amazon. I will probably hate them all and continue ordering new and sending them back all summer while wearing my old ones. I’ve been pregnant or breastfeeding for 3/4 of the last 13 years so all my clothes are a mess and I would love a great shopping trip. I think malls open tomorrow but I won’t go and I would probably not be allowed to try stuff on anyway.
I also oddly miss bringing C to the grocery store with me. Even though he liked to throw stuff out of the cart, he kept me entertained.

You mean like the 300 TEENAGERS who have been exposed here because they had some huge party??? Idiots. And what parents were like a "a party? Sure, go ahead" I told my friend that if Cadence had been one of those teenagers she would be doing her 2 week quarantine in a tent in the backyard.

I love (loved) grocery shopping. I’m surprised I don’t miss it more. We’ve had a lot of special occasions from the start of quarantine —three out of the four of us had birthdays, Easter, mothers and Father’s Day, and I didn’t feel like we were missing out on getting something particular from the grocery store. Instacart has been fantastic.

guster I live the low maintenance plant life, this is my one side of my backyard that has plants, there are day lilies, tiger lilies, and a lupine in there. They are all perennials and i do nothing for them but cut them down in the fall, sometimesI even forget that, and dead head once in a while. Eta: dont mind the awful looking fence, it’s on the list to get replaced within a couple years Another yard goals. Looks good! vinoguster doing our yard ourself has been sooooooo slow, but it’s starting to look better. I, too want to rip out some bushes and put something else in, but we have already done so much that I think I will wait until next spring to yank those.

C goes to camp so obviously we have opened up our exposure but we are still staying at home otherwise. I grocery shop once a week and have only been ordering from Amazon or Target since the returns are quick and easy. Although I did get a bunch of stuff from Old Navy that I need to return and it says 4-6weeks for a refund if done by mail. So I might risk it and go into one quickly.
We have opened up our circle to my immediate family but no one else. We are lucky to have a nice bike path nearby but it gets super crowded on nice days so we went out today when it was humid and gross to avoid people. There was a nice breeze so it was good.
I can’t speak to anyone going to parties in other states. But I do not love the tourists coming in. Newport and Narragansett are huge tourist destinations here and people come from everywhere. Which means they are bringing their germs with them. I understand wanting to get away but I truly feel that recreational travel should be banned for a few months until all states are under control. I know that’s impossible though.
Eta: I don’t say that to throw shade at people and know others have different opinions. Just like I’m sure people think I’m nuts sending C to camp.

guster and lahdeedah a couple things I was thinking of about the yard stuff, if there is something you want to pull out just do it and live with it bare for a bit to see how you like it, maybe something doesn’t need to be in the exact spot, I also chose and planted my plants to ensure that they bloom at different times, like the lupines are now with the tiger lilies are starting to bud then it’ll be the day lilies. I like that there is always some colour.

In the last month we have done things we hadn’t since It all started- we ate outside at a restaurant about once a week, our Memphis stay, I’ve been going to more stores. After hearing the scenarios about Texas and Arizona, I don’t think we’ll be eating out at restaurants and I need to curb my “want”to go in unnecessary stores.
Our numbers have been up consistently, but not overwhelmingly so. Even at the start of it, I was the one going on grocery runs and what not and continue to do it. Even though I have been going in more places, I always wear my mask, keep my distance, and sanitize in and out. The kids never come with me- well not M2, I have taken M in for a grocery run twice.
We are going to my ILs for the weekend of the fourth, but we won’t be having any big gatherings. Just hanging out for a long weekend.

The governor just shut down bars again in the county I live in but not the county I work in (yet). He’s now doing a county by county approach.
I’m still using shipt for grocery shopping and amazon for most things. Since our air conditioner broke earlier this week I did swing into Carters/Oshkosh and picked up short sleeve pajamas with shorts to help deal with the warmer house temperatures. Repair man comes on Tuesday.

wedding I don't think you're nuts for sending C to camp, I sent my 2. I will say, though, when we moved last month and drove down 95, literally every other car that passed me had plates from NY/NJ/PA. So it definitely goes both ways...those ppl were all coming south, technically when their states were still under a shut-down. I think I have a different perspective from many of you so this is probably a UO. But as long as my state allows it, I will participate in the business of 'every day' life, within reason--whether that's errands, eating at a restaurant once a week, or (God willing) sending my kids to school in the fall. We try to do so as safely as possible with masks, maintaining distance when possible, etc. Everything I've seen about how to 'catch' this is that realistically, it is most likely to pass b/n ppl when they're in close proximity for 15+ min. So me breezing by someone in Target or having a masked waitress pass me food does not worry me *personally*. I would say mask participation here is probably 60-70%. I think a lot of people relaxed their guard the first half of this month and now that #s have spiked people are paying attention again. But in our county and surrounding counties, #s are still relatively low.

oh, yes, there was no shaming in my post, at least not for those on this board. I was just curious where other states were at. I am however shaming the idiots here in Austin who know good and well that we are at an insane peak in cases.
I just dropped Cadence off at a camp. We'll see how it goes. Parents aren't allowed in, they come out to your car to get your kid, ask the standard questions and temp check. Cadence will be wearing a mask most, if not all, day and I reminded her no hugging, stay out of people's faces, etc.

I'm hoping with all the rules this summer, by the time school rolls around she will get the idea of personal space better. It's hard for kids.

klong11 I don't think we're going back to school in the fall. I think we will be on a 2 day a week schedule. Or at least that was the last they said. They sent out a survey to see how many parents are wanting to send their kids back, or do only distance learning. Once they calculate the results of those I guess they will determine what the schedule will actually look like. It def. won't be an every day a week type of school year. There will be quite a bit of distance learning in there no matter what option we choose.
I just feel like Cadence will not thrive on all distance learning. She needs some form of classroom time. Whatever we can get.
ETA: this was information given before the recent spike in cases, though, so it could all change now. Makes me think about looking into a private tutor though. Someone who can come to the house for a couple hours a day, or every other day or whatever and get Cadence to do what she needs to do and get her properly prepared for 2nd grade so that 1st grade isn't a complete bust.

My kids have have been going to school for the past 7 weeks, no masks at school (hardly anywhere for that matter, except in places where one can’t distance, hairdresser, public transport etc). Kids are not social distancing. Officially teachers are supposed to keep 1.5 meters between them and the children, but with 4-6yo that is just not feasible. High school opened back up 4 weeks ago. ICU numbers have still been going down steadily, there was a slicht increase in numbers but that can be attributed to the fact that all dutch people can be tested since June 1st (before it was only available for healthcare/essential workers).
ETA the first three weeks were half classes/half weeks.

We had a similar survey and our superintendent said they'd be making an announcement July 15. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for at least 2 days a week, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
