My dad's being admitted to the hospital tonight for non-Covid symptoms yet he's insisting they test him. He is an alcoholic who abuses his body and the healthcare system so I'm mad he's using up valuable resources right now. If my mom ends up getting Covid bc of his hospital admit, I will a lose my s!

I’m so sorry. That sounds like it is very frustrating. Most hospitals are doing an amazing job of isolating so praying your mom stays safe. And most hospitals are testing every single admitted patient. So don’t worry about the resources. If it’s easier for you to feel angry than to feel scared, that’s totally ok. But do not let yourself feel guilt or shame. Hugs. Edit: reading comprehension fail. Thought you said the hospital was insisting. But my comment still stands that most hospitals (that can) are testing everyone admitted for their own safety and the safety of other patients. And people are showing up with the strangest and most eclectic symptoms. So take a deep breath.

tj did you guys ever get tested? I’m likely about to embark on an attempt to get M tested. But I know things are so different in different places.

DGM, I'm sorry that you're dealing with that and +1 to everything that TJ said. stringy, I hope that you can get M tested. It seems like, at this point, you can aim for the nasal swab or the antibody test. If one is easier for you to get, I would think that they would both yield results at this point.

I thought all the tests were nasal swabs? And that you can't have the AB test until you are w/o symptoms.
Honestly she liked getting blood taken. Kind of like if its lyme I'm gonna ask if there's an ABX injection vs fighting w/her over liquid for weeks.

They've definitely been getting positive blood tests in people who are presymptomatic. I think that there is a period of time that a nasal swab would show up positive before there are antibodies, but if she's already showing symptoms I would think that she would already have antibodies. But obviously this will depend on what's available where you are. I just meant that it might be something that you could pursue (especially if she prefers blood draws).

tj did you guys ever get tested? I’m likely about to embark on an attempt to get M tested. But I know things are so different in different places. I got swabbed. But it was 2 weeks after my fever ended before I could even get tested and it came back negative. So I don’t think it would have been accurate anyway, but the tests also have a 30% failure rate so they aren’t that useful. We don’t have antibody tests here. So I didn’t and still don’t have that option.

stringy is that your next step if the Lyme comes back negative? How is M doing today? I guess (shruggy guy). I read about the girl that died in michigan and her symptoms were headache and fever and she had some meningitis complication. I don't know enough to know if thats going on but a week of headache and fever is enough for me, even in non-pandemic times. Or a chest x ray for pneumonia? I dunno - I need osmething next, and if that's part of it that's fine.
She's the same, low fever, its about noon so i expect her to sink into a nap in the next few hours and wake up with a high fever.

stringy the like was for agreeance. I would definitely say you need more answers. And you need them now. Sadly at this time we are really all having to push hard to get health care issues taken seriously. But I know that you are capable and willing to advocate for M like a mad woman. So do it. And let us know. Lmk if I can do anything for you.

Lyme negative. Chest X-ray and urinalysis collected.
Covid test won’t happen.
This will just miraculously disappear in a few days now that we did every test possible. Except that one for the current pandemic.

So fucked up stringy. Just keep on keeping an eye on her. If anything tingles your mom senses, take her to the ER. Covid can present in the wildest ways. Even pink eye and HFM-type symptoms. And altered mental status. So don’t let the lack of diagnosis keep you from making decisions that may (or God willing may not) ever need to be made. I know you don’t need me to tell you that. I’m just reminding you to trust yourself bc you know. You know her and you will know if something just ain’t right.

And FYI I was only able to get tested from an urgent care facility not related to my dr. I had to do a telemed appt with them then a drive up swab. So just bc her ped won’t do it doesn’t meant it can’t happen. If you feel like it needs to be done, there may be other ways.

So they said there’s some weird stuff w her urine analysis. So maybe uti. Except hasn’t had typical uti symptoms. Maybe something kidney related as well- she’s running more analysis that will be back tomorrow. Started an antibiotic just in case.
99% of the time my gut is that it’s not covid. We haven’t been anywhere or seen anyone. It would be crazy if it both somehow came in on mail/packages and she got it and the rest of either didn’t or are asymptomatic. And she presents abnormally for it w no respiratory. So yea, most nights at 3 am I go there but otherwise not much.

ER visit this morning for me.
Eye had been a little blurry for a few days and I figured it was just allergies. This morning I noticed more blurring and a bit of light sensitivity. I go check the mirror and my pupil isn’t reacting much. Called the ER and they say come in just in case I need a CT. Called MIL to come get the kiddo and she also drives me to ER. I have no nausea or vomiting and said I’d like to avoid the cost of a CT if possible. So doc gets out eye equipment and sure enough...
CORNEAL ABRASION
My insurance is so sh!t that will probably be $300 at least because none of the eye docs are are open.

My dad was admitted to the hospital on Thurs for non-Covid sx and is supposed to go home today. He tested negative.
I just dropped off MH at the ER for stomach pain that started last night. He never ever goes to the doctor so the fact that he asked to go makes me know his pain is off the charts. Ugh.
