I'm feeling kind of hopeless today. I feel like there has been no good news recently regarding the virus. I know the curves seem to be flattening but we seem no closer to safely lifting stay in place orders. I still can't find any toilet paper. I'm anxious about what school might look like in the fall for both of my kids. I miss my family and friends. My kids miss their family and friends.

Hearing my dad cry on the phone while talking to my mom is killing me. Like shattering my heart. How are things going for your mom?

And our family is supposed to visit late summer, and I'm worried they won't be able to.

I’m bringing some pictures and cards from my kids to the hospital today. I can just drop them off at the main desk. I might do some flowers too. She really loves yellow tulips so I’m hoping I can find some You might want to call and check first. Our hospital isn’t allowing any fresh flowers. I’m not sure why, maybe just bc of allergies and respiratory illness? They are also restricting fresh fruits. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m so glad you are close enough to be with your family during this time. 💜

Just a vent:
My mental health is not great. We are going to be isolating for another month at least. I have had to put my contracted work on hold until further notice because I don’t have enough time away from my kids to do it. I was supposed to take classes this summer that I’ll probably have to drop.
I felt like last year I spent all year with life on pause bc of my health. I would always think how much better 2020 was going to be. Now here we are and life is still on pause. 😞
Just, ugh. Hugs to everyone struggling.

I know this isn't an option for everybody, but I just took my kids to the McDonald's drive thru for breakfast. We're now sitting in my car in front of our house eating and listening to music. The kitchen didn't get cleaned last night so not having to make or clean breakfast will make it easier to tackle today. Also trying to avoid any awkward convos, tj, since MH is already at work but my house is not empty. Taking your advice to heart.

Today really sucks. BFF is in quarantine because her mom was in the hospital for non-covid reasons, then was discharged and BFF went to meet the ambulance transferring her mom home and her mom was delirious and feverish and they decided to send her back to a different hospital than the one who discharged her. turns out she contracted covid in the hospital, so now BFF is quarantining herself in her mom's apartment because she came in contact with her mom during the brief time she was being released and then sent back. I really worry about her husband who is now alone with their two kids and also that BFF will be ok during her isolation and her mom in the hospital with covid. Thankfully her mom is doing ok so far. I'm doing a supply run for her this afternoon and bringing her wine, brownies and puzzles and we're offering to help her husband as well. and CW death found out this morning that someone at my company died presumably of covid (her employees are being quarantined). She was only 59. She was super sweet and I spoke on the phone with her at least a few times a week. I was wondering how long it would be before someone I knew died. that, coupled with all the idiotic protests about reopening is making me so sad and angry.

Got drive-thru lunch and sat under the magnolia tree in our front yard and ate french fries.

M is still sick, guys. Yesterday she had a 104 fever so we were told to come in. She panicked at the masks and strangeness (she hasn't been anywhere in over a month). Negative flu, strep, normal blood counts, waiting on tick panel. No respiratory symptoms, so didn't offer a CV screen. She's weirdly okay in the morning, like 100/101, up and playing - and then tanks in the afternoon, naps and has headaches.
Anyway - I didn't feel like playing CAH or zooming last night and I was literally asleep by 9. My anxiety can't sustain this life.

stringy sorry to hear M is still sick. I'm really surprised they didn't screen for CV considering how many kids are getting more mild symptoms. How many days is that of a fever? Was her oxygen level ok?

I need to stop reading articles about the virus. Made the mistake of reading an article today about people getting covid-pneumonia and not even realizing it because the lungs still "function" and expell CO² so you don't notice shortness of breath, even though you're not getting enough 0². And now I'm neurotically analyzing my breathing and every yawn and wondering if I'm just out of shape (with 2 margs in me) or if I'm secretly infected.
Someone send me a finger oximeter so I can tell my brain to chill TF out.

Someone send me a finger oximeter so I can tell my brain to chill TF out. I seriously wanted to get one so badly when I had *ahem* non-covid pneumonia. But I definitely noticed (after an asthma attack which brought my attention to it) that my heart rate was shooting up even doing small things. Doc said that was bc my heart was working harder to bring oxygenated blood to my lungs. But my usual resting rate is 61. It had gone up to 74. And just brushing my teeth it would go up to 110-120. Walking across the room or cooking dinner would be 150 easy. Also I had massively lost all sense of appetite. I lost 9 lbs, and for those who have followed my attempted weight loss journey for years and years and years, that’s basically a miracle. So all that just to say, don’t put too much stock into that. If you are sick, you will know. At some point at least. So maybe be more vigilant than normal. But don’t freak out. Edited: sorry, didn’t mean to me-monster that. My point was that every single person has different symptoms and the symptoms are so wildly varied that you can’t worry about some guy in some article said. Just hang in there.

If you are sick, you will know. At some point at least. So maybe be more vigilant than normal. But don’t freak out. Thank you for that. My RHR is usually mid-70s, and maybe goes up to 90-ish if I go up the stairs (not unusual for me), so I need to keep in mind that as long as I can have a conversation and walk up and down the stairs without gasping for air, I'm likely fine. I also don't usually drink hard liquor, and S made me two margaritas this evening, after I had a whole beer in the late afternoon. And I have allergy meds in my system, so I'm sure those mixed together is what's causing drowsiness and slightly altered breathing when moving about. Ok, thanks for letting me spew all that out.

But then I realized that it’s not that folks don’t realize that they’re sick before showing up with Covid pneumonia, it’s that they don’t realize that they’re THAT sick. You can’t have a low blood oxygen level without feeling tired. And you can feel tired and run down with any “everyday” illness. So folks who have it may know that they have something, but it still feels everyday sick, not “OMG get to the hospital sick.” That said, I kind of want to get a blood oxygen monitor.
