I feel like I am walking around with a tornado-like thing around me, just thoughts and to-dos and whatever swirling around and making me dizzy. Like I am not physically tired but I am mentally and emotionally very, very overwhelmed and tired. And then MH calls to tell me he filled out his application to get started on his Healthcare MBA once we get moved. Which I fully support, but omg. My brain is at capacity please.

Kids both had clear runny noses overnight that seem to have stopped this morning. I have fall allergies that zyrtec is just barely holding off and we were outside for dinner last night, so it's probably that, but I'm still feeling mildly paranoid. Their preschool, which has been super strict about illness protocols said it's ok if the only symptom is runny nose. I hate that every little thing is anxiety-inducing these days.

The coming of cooler weather is starting to stress me re:covid. Particularly for my ILs, and BIL. Its MILs 70th this weekend, and I thought we had decided to do something for her on our own, but now its shaping to be everyone (which would be 4 families, including 6 children who each attend different schools/pods, 1 elem teacher, 1 infant, and two grandparents - total 12 or 13 ppl). We did other things this summer with this group, outside in pools and backyards with very little indoor time - AND no one was going to school/work then, AND numbers in each of our towns were very low. I told BM it has to be outdoors - but I don't trust it when the pool is closed and the weather is iffy - the kids will just wander in to play. I also don't trust some questionable decisions by her brother and SIL per facebook photos. And MA seems to be going downhill fast.
Sigh. Her family is very much non-confrontational and of the "oh we are being careful" persuasion, as said after returning from a restaurant.

There was an outbreak declared at a care home here in my city. 2 seniors were taken to the hospital after testing positive to get some separation, and some workers are maybe showing symptoms. The scary thing is that nobody knows how it got in, so who knows where else the person who brought it has been...

I'm pretty sure S just went to bed early because he was in a sore mood after admitting he overreacted with R. I'm not sure if I should feel like he's being ridiculous, or if I should be glad he went to bed and didn't end up projecting his mood on me.

MH is making me slightly crazy during this home shopping process. He keeps sending me beautiful houses situated on a 1/6 acre lot. HUSBAND. We have 2 small kids and a dog, with plans to get another dog as soon as we move. Having a partially fenced-in yard is necessary. A community pond that starts 15' off the back of the house is not going to work.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. But he isn't the one supervising the kids and animals outside 95% of the time so maybe he just doesn't get it? But he SHOULD get it because I keep telling him. There are plenty of great houses on 1/2 acre lots, it is not like we have to pick between house and yard. I don't want to waste time looking at something that is not going to work.

And WTF to 1/6 of an acre lots!? I feel like that leaves you a tiny area for an actual backyard and no distance from the street.

One of the yards has a literally walking trail maybe 10' from the back of the house. What a nightmare with my loud and chatty children. This is also coming from the man who moved us to the place we are now because he wanted "no neighbors" so to go from over 4 acres to 1/6 of an acre (or even smaller!) would be an unrealistic adjustment for everyone. I have decided that half an acre is perfect and I am pretty much refusing to look at anything less than that unless it is a very special scenario.

Space, but manageable. I have seen a couple houses with like .25 or .30 acres with a really great sized fenced yard that would work. But they are rare since most are surrounded by other houses.

My lot is probably 1/6 acre or so. It’s not ideal, but it’s less yard work. The pluses of the house and the neighborhood made it worth it to me. J loves to bitch about it all the time. He’s not great with the yard work either, though.

My property is .6 acres and is perfect or possibly too big. I mean, I use it all. But it's a lot to maintain. I need to turn some of the woods into raised bed space.

Our 2,130sf house is on 0.11 acres so... LOL
In all honestly, I do wish the lot was bigger. 0.5 acre sounds perfect for suburban life.
2-3 acres sounds perfect for my "dream" house with chickens and a barn for my business and nature for my kids and dogs to free roam around.

Maybe because I grew up in a neighborhood with even smaller yards? And my house itself is not huge so that's probably part of it. Back in San Diego, there were some real postage stamp yards, like maybe 1/4 the size of what I have now.

This surprises me because the pictures of your backyard make it seem bigger! I think lot size can really depend on where the house is situated. And surrounding houses/woods/ponds. A lot of the neighborhoods there have really small lots and behemoth houses with multi-tiered decks/courtyards on top so it makes the lots look even smaller than they are. I just need a reasonably sized house with some grass for my kids and dog and the less landscaping the better!

We looked in-depth last night and of the 10ish houses we are looking at on Saturday, we are really excited about 5 of them and the rest all have potential just would need some renovation work. So I am feeling confident that one of these will be a winner. *crosses all the things*

And some rock. So the back yard space is "ok" given the lot size. It could be more grass-dense but we really wanted garden beds, so 🤷. And now we're gonna squeeze 4 chickens back there, too.... I think we have some "lifestyle" identity crisis issues 🤣🤣

I always tell myself that one of the positives of living so close to neighbors is that if I am being attacked someone might hear me scream. 😅
I love the idea of having a lot of space from neighbors until my murder paranoia creeps in.

I've had those thoughts. And then I think they might just ignore it because when is someone in this house not screaming? lol
