Thanks everyone! The tire place is letting us stay in the car, and I told the kids we'll have McDonald's drive thru after this. MH went into work so I don't have a 3rd person to take care of, and the kids went to the playground for a quick visit before the tire place so hopefully I won't be yelling at them today.

It’s a little disheartening when your sister visits and observes your day with three kids (well, minus her tele-commuted work day), and at the end exclaims what a hard, LOUD, busy, chaotic day was.
No. It’s just a regular day. The little one woke at 5am and now it’s 7:39pm and I’m waiting for the big ones to fall asleep. I didn’t have a single moment for myself today - a grabbed moment or 4 on my phone, but not many today, and all in between child tasks.
Guys. I really hate it.

Do you ever trade dinner for some wine spritzers and a 30 minute shower cry?
Same.

mc13 thank you for sharing that! It really resonated with me. The idea of “ambiguous loss” is so spot on. My mental health is vastly improved when I can cultivate routine and predictability in my daily life. Current life feels like walking on eggshells 24/7.

The mental & physical loads of being the primary parent is exhausting and I'm sick of trying to explain it. I blew up at MH yesterday and am still pissed.

Ugh, A has been stuffy/sneezy since yesterday. So many tissues! And, in true 6yo fashion, she sniffles in more than she should, causing her to cough on the drainage.
I'm trying not to freak myself out. Her temp is normal and she said she feels fine. And her energy is normal, too. But like, 2020 has me worrying.
WWNJCDD? Wait it out or go get her tested?

We had the same effing fight last night too. And I just can’t figure out how to make him understand. I was actually going to post here and ask you how you do it. Lol. I guess the same as me.

I would wait. If she doesn’t have a fever, blisters on her tongue, hands, feet, or really lethargic I would assume it is allergies or a common cold.

tj and rhymeswithdisco thank you for talking me off a ledge. Poor thing is just constantly needing to blow her nose. I gave her more Claritin, so I'm hoping that starts to help.

My kids both had this a couple weeks ago. J's lasted about 4-5 days (but he sniffles and refuses to just blow his nose so everything takes longer to clear up with him, which makes me insane) and M's lasted like 2 days. She is real good at blowing everything out and saline so her stuff always seeems to clear up quicker than his. The zyrtec and some benadryl helped a ittle bit but I think it was just a cold of some sort. Neither of mine had fevers or acted differently. I think just wait it out unless she develops a fever.

Winter is going to be absolutely horrendous. Although we will be moving in the middle of it so I guess that will break it up. But Jan/Feb....ugh, Worst months of the year.

rugger, I'm going to dissent and recommend testing. For your peace of mind and also the ability to go about your life. When I had a cold I immediately got tested and camped out at home. Then after I got my negative I felt like I could go back into the world. I still made sure to be extra careful because getting a cold during a pandemic sucks. But every school/program around here makes you stay home with ANY cold symptoms. If you're negative you can resume normal life.

One of Es classmates was sharing that she had a fever last night and her sister stayed up watching her all night. The teacher then asked if she was coming in for pictures later today. Her response, "Yeah, I dont have a fever now!" I am so glad we are skipping school pictures.

We had our first family trip to the zoo today since it re-opened, and it was so good for all of us! I actually liked it better than usual since it was very limited capacity. This was a great way to start our week. Hopefully, I won't lose it on MH or kids this week. Last week, I was a monster. ETA I'm counting it as a field trip day for our homeschool. That wasn't our intention with going, but L started asking questions about what she was reading on the signs. Her questions lined up with what she had read on Starfall. They technically are learning every day at this age, but I'm not going to push the envelope that far with our state dept of education.

I am so effing filled with rage about the rampant covid spread in the white house and how apparently no one is bothering to wear masks or isolate despite the face that pretty much everyone has been exposed. It's so disgusting and everything wrong with this country's leadership right now.
