As far as misspellings, I get the male spelling of my name - which isn't even pronounced the same way - or they just full-on rename me Mary or Karen. My name is not unusual.
For the 100th day, Colin has to do 100 objects last year. We did mini marhsmallows and it must have taken 6 times to count them correctly. His class is dressing up this year but I doubt he will - he's got DH's "too cool" genes. Boo! He'd look so cute as an old man.

People commonly spell my first name with 1 L, which is not the common spelling of my name. I don't get it. More annoying is when I email someone and they reply back, thinking my last name is my first name. Which it could be someones first name, but if you read my email signature, it clearly isn't. For example, if my name was Sara Smith, when they reply to my email, signed Sara Smith, they respond to Smith. It's such a common thing, my boss calls me by my last name. I'm most commonly "Steve's daughter" "Steven's sister" "Alex's wife" or now with school "Matthew's mom"

I just got a call from the school nurse. S isn't feeling well. No fever, yet. But 1/3 of his school is apparently sick so I am just waiting for it. MH is working from home so I sent him to get him. S is never sick and was just sick last month. This stinks. Shit, I'm so sorry.

I was very surprised to hear when I started working in a high school that so many students disregarded the surname. I was basically called by my just maiden name which has more of a exclamation to it than my current last name. In fact, once I changed my name, they included the surname.

Too cute klong11 and tgrimes , they look great. Itâs 100th day today and they were told they could dress up and B nixed that as quickly as I could ask if he wanted to. Thank goodness. He had to fill a bag of 100 things and with 2 days notice we did Lego pieces, I knew our 2 million pieces of lego would come in handy at some point. Does B normally enjoy dressing up? My B does not. We had "favorite book character" last Friday and the teacher suggested someone from one of the nursery rhymes they've been working on lately. B was perfectly happy with a blue shirt and jeans for Little Boy Blue, lol.

My whole family was cracking up out loud in the theater. We loved it and will definitely buy it when it comes out.

Not so much when I worked, but every so often with phone calls I am called by our last name (which can be a woman's name.) If it's not something really important, I rarely correct people. I have expressed my displeasure (to y'all) in the past with being called "Mom", like at the pediatrician's office. No, it's Mrs. Last Name (preferable), or FirstName. It'll take you half a second to look at the chart in front of you.

He's home with MH. He says he's just cranky and tired. No fever. He's laying in bed with the ipad (which has been in time out for about 3 weeks!)
We shall see.
And as to names, I sort of love being called "S Mom" I think it's cute. I struggle with what to be called. I think Mrs. Last Name is too formal, and it doesn't feel right using first names. The group of us who hang out all the time always discuss what we think the kids should call us and it always organically just goes back to "Kid's name's Mom".

Also, inthekitty I'm cracking up at the 'i' on the end. DH dated a Tiffani years ago and I tease him that I bet she dotted her i's with hearts. (although I think she was a dentist so she's probably smarter than me )

jewels I'm sorry S is under the weather. Poor kid! Hope it passes quickly and B avoids it. My friends and I tend to use "Miss First Name" to refer to each other with our kids. I agree, Mrs. LN can be a mouthful for young children and it seems starchy. But once my kids are going to their friends' homes without me, then they definitely need to refer to the parents as Mr/Mrs. LN until instructed otherwise.

I grew up only being allowed to say Mr./Mrs. LN. The parents always tried to get us to call them by their first names because it just sounded too formal. I was NEVER allowed to use first names when my parents were around.

But that seems to far the other direction. So we keep circling back to S's Mom

I am often known as âSierraâs momâ. My parents say sheâs a celebrity in our town. Lol. When they stayed with her for 2 weeks when we went to Fiji they said they couldnât go anywhere without other kids and parents or teachers stopping to talk to her. And itâs true. Half the time I donât know the people who stop to talk to her. But everyone loves her and goes out of their way to include her and talk to her. I love it.

We use first names but I guess we need to pay attention a bit more. The teachers are our prek go by just first name, so that is the norm for them and us. We also maybe need to socialize a bit more since this hasn't come up much..

Morning ride in today involved pulling over on a side street during a monsoon and hail. I ended up crawling into the back seat bc k was screaming and n was spooked. I'm not a tiny person, so it had to be pretty comical. My mom likes to ask each day how long it takes and I snapped at her that she doesn't need to ask bc it clearly isn't great and I don't need her to remind me every day. On the flip side, I do enjoy that I'm spending time with N, even if it's running around. If we were at home, I'd prob send her off to go play and not be talking like we do in the car.
Otherwise fairly pleased we have survived the week in one piece, even though I looked like a drowned rat by the time I got in. And it helped that n's old teacher was a floater today and was thrilled to meet k and grabbed her to play right awayđ„°
