I use here, Goodreads, Book Riot, and then also Indiebound. Indiebound focuses on independent bookstores.
You can also see if your local library offers access to Novelist. It is a great source to readalikes, themes, or other book lists. I search for a title of a book I enjoyed and then select similar authors or books. My old library used to have it dialed into their web catalog, which makes it really easy to find “more like this” when you love a book for its style, author, or story.

I jump in and out of this thread but my whole week has been consumed with the book “I’m thinking of ending things”. I’ve never been so disturbed by a book. I reread it and took notes. I just needed to share that somewhere. The movie ending was a huge dissapointment. I’m intrigued. Do you recommend it? I can’t tell if that’s disturbed in a good or bad way lol. I mostly read thriller/mysteries but I’m not opposed to a good horror novel.

It’s not a horror or really a thriller but it is haunting. Don’t read reviews or anything prior because spoilers are everywhere.

I got Jodi Picoult’s new one today-The Book of Two Ways. Not sure when I’ll be able to start it but I’m excited. It sounds intriguing and I love all her stuff. I’m interested in what you think the peleton group do not like it

I finished What Alice Forgot and liked it. I attempted to start Where the Crawdads Sing, but I couldn’t get into it. I think my mind was just all over the place. I have mostly heard good things though so I want to stick it out.

I felt like the main character was an entirely unrealistic person given her upbringing (or lack there of.)

I just had to check my goodreads because I was pretty sure I had read "I am thinking of ending things" - apparently I really didn't like it and gave it 2 stars. I can't remember much of it.

Particularly {Spoiler}how when she first started reading, she went straight to reading difficult material and then writing in depth books. Oh, and she's also a renowned poet! I felt like they could do a lot to say there are different educational abilities that don't determine intelligence by showing her as collaborating with a scholar for the writing or succeeding in a different way. She just became too perfect and good at everything too quickly.

I hadn't seen so many negative reviews about Crawdads! I have heard a lot of people saying it was the best book they read all year, so this is surprising. Hah. Well, good to know. I think maybe I will try again when I am in a better frame of mind. I think my hormones (I am ovulating) are causing some weird anxiety that is making me not be able to focus. I just self diagnosed so I have no actual idea. LMAO.
I have a couple Elin Hilderbrand books and also Liane Moriarty's book The Husband's Secret, so I may have to start one of those in the meantime. I also have the Book of Lost Friends to finish, but again, I can't focus.

It was really frustrating this weekend, too, because I really wanted to read since I had the time. But nope, couldn't focus.

They were talking about this on the Mean Book Club podcast! {Spoiler} It's like, ohhhhh you do know something about murder that's questionably justified in a person's brain? lol. Very interested connection

For the spreadsheet, I loved Crawdads. I listened to it and was totally sucked in. But I also see a lot of the problem areas that were brought up on the podcast too. I think listening to it with the accents made it easier to get into, not sure how it would've flowed on the page

I also enjoyed Crawdads. I agree it was overhyped - it wasn’t the best book I’ve read or anything close. But I loved the sense of place the author created. It was unique and interesting.

I’m half way through the heir affair and its not horrible but I can’t imagine why it’s so long,
Dd wanted a certain dork diaries and the library had it on the shelf so we ventured in since they are open now. She walked out with 6 books and I grabbed 2 Kristan Hannah books

According to goodreads I’ve already read home front by Kristin Hannah which is one I grabbed but it doesn’t even sound remotely familiar

I would agree that the setting was very well-written. I was absorbed in the book but I remember having a little bit of a “huh” feeling for some of the plot. Then I read that murder connection and was all “WTF” is going on in her mind?! CestLaVie I needed a good podcast that is fun for walking the dog, I’m going to check that out!

I really liked A Rogue of Ones Own. It didn’t pull me in as fast as bringing down the Duke, but the enemy to lovers romance trope is probably my fave so I predict I’ll enjoy this whole series.
