I just finished this: It was pretty good! I have a harder time with non-fiction, but this was easy to read. I gave it a 5 on Goodreads (I rarely give 5s, lol).

I am about 1/5 of the way through What Alice Forgot, and I am enjoying it. It's definitely one I reach for to read.
My hold on The Great Alone just came up, but I probably won't make it down to the library for a bit. Fortunately I have another couple weeks to get there. I have several books to read until then.

I read several books in the last week or so. I read The Night Swim, which is a mystery/thriller. It’s got a “ripped from the headlines” type of storyline - it definitely borrows from the Brock Turner case and also Serial. But it was timely and thoughtful and well-written, so I would definitely recommend.
I also read two Christina Lauren books - Roomies and Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating. I thought both were cute but I really enjoyed Josh & Hazel. It was sweet and legitimately funny.
I’m just starting When No One Was Watching. It’s another thriller and gets good reviews, so hopefully it’s decent.

I finished my reread of The Handmaid’s Tale (which hits SO different these days. Wow.) And then read Ask Again Yes, which I really enjoyed. It was very character-driven, which is what I tend to prefer. I’m almost done with The Testaments now and it’s really pulling me along. I rarely like a sequel as much as the first book in a series, but this is possibly even better than The Handmaid’s Tale.
Haven’t decided what I’m diving into next, but probably some sort of palate cleanser after living in Gilead for so long.
I’m tearing through books these days, it’s crazy. I’m getting through one every 2-3 days or so.

Just finished The Faitless Hawk, which was a sequel I’ve been waiting for. It was just ok. Unnecessarily complex, I think.

I liked The Secrets we Kept and found The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue very entertaining. Debating what to start next, thinking City of Girls

I got a smattering of books in recently. I am reading; My Time Among the Whites: Notes from an Unfinished Education by Jennine Capo Crucet. It’s good, I like her writing style so far. One Person, No Vote by Carol Anderson. It’s a YA nonfiction read but I feel like it is helping me understand issues in voter disenfranchisement better than “adult” reads. Last, is anyone going to read The Book of Little Axe? It is a national (I think) available ebook with libraries as one of their Big Read pushes. The reviews are great, and I’m ready for something a little more deep than my sexy romances.

bearfootzcontinued, I have the gentleman's guide queueing high up in my to read list. Are you going to read the others? I actually read 1.5, it was very short. If the others are novels too I’ll probably read those as well. I wonder if they’re doing a movie - I can picture it as a movie.

Book 2 is about the sister (Lady's guide to petticoats...) and book 3 is coming in Decemeber!

caer, Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating was adorable. Most of Christina Lauren's books are cute and fluffy as well. The Unhoneymooners was another I really enjoyed if you need a recommendation. I finished Happy and You Know It last week. It was okay. It started out fairly serious and then turned into a Liane Moriarty book but I enjoyed it more than I probably should have. Right now I'm reading Party of Two and it's cute. I'm almost done and next up is something a bit more serious with Transcendent Kingdom. I LOVED Homegoing so much so I have high hopes.

Party of Two is on my list - I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, where does everyone get their book recommendations? I feel like I’ve been out of the loop over the past few years. A lot of stuff on my to read list on Goodreads isn’t looking as interesting.

I also look at Amazon and get recommendations there and see what authors I have liked in the past have new books coming out.

A lot of stuff on my to read list on Goodreads isn’t looking as interesting. I like looking at books I really enjoyed on Goodreads and then looking at their suggested books. I think something like Readers who read this also read... Or if someone writes a review I totally agree with, I'll look at the other books they've rated highly and if I see some overlap with other books I've read, then I look for books they've rated highly that I haven't yet read and look those up on Goodreads.

August Blooms, I've also had some good luck with the anticipated books of season lists from NPR and I am almostly exclusively audiobooks, and audible has a pretty strong game of suggesting books I might like. I've also had some luck with new authors from the Amazon first read books.

August Blooms - did you join the Peloton Mom’s book club on FB that thatgolfb mentioned? There’s been some good recommendations there. I get most of recommendations from GoodReads but I also read reviews/upcoming lists on NPR and EW. I also look through Amazon’s recommendations for me.

I added it after reading Madame Fourcade's Secret War, which was a really really good book too. It was about a woman who ran a spy network in France. Really cool. The Woman Who Smashed Codes was also a really amazing book in this category.

I got Jodi Picoult’s new one today-The Book of Two Ways. Not sure when I’ll be able to start it but I’m excited. It sounds intriguing and I love all her stuff.

I jump in and out of this thread but my whole week has been consumed with the book “I’m thinking of ending things”. I’ve never been so disturbed by a book. I reread it and took notes. I just needed to share that somewhere.
The movie ending was a huge dissapointment.
