Crawdads: I loved it, and am surprised at how many people didn’t.
Jodi Picoult: I enjoyed her early books as easy reads with interesting, thought-provoking topics. Then she got too formulaic. And I’ve found her newer books very manipulative.

I have so many books that came in at the library to read, and I'm trying to also read some horror for october lol Also, my anxiety has ramped up and I've had a hard time wanting to read. Oh well, I have: You had me at Hola, Beach Read, When we left Cuba, Devolution, The Fisherman and The Babysitter's Coven all out from the library.

I decided to continue The Book of Lost Friends instead of starting something new, and I think I actually came back into a good point in the book, so maybe I will actually finish it. Lol.

Jodi Picoult was my favorite author for a long time. I read every single book and at least was entertained. The last one was horrible and i quit halfway through. I'm not wasting my time with the new one.

Don't read Grapes of Wrath. I just finished it. Depression on top of depression is NOT what I needed.

I just...Grandpa died, Grandma died, Noah left, Connie left, Preacher was murdered, Tom had to leave, Rose of Sharon had the stillborn baby. It was too much.

MH has decided to read Treasure Island to the boys after watching a loosely related movie together. It is the first book they’ve read where my boys actually fell asleep while he was still reading. I can’t decide if he should continue reading because it bores the boys to sleep or if I should tell him to give up cause they clearly aren’t into the book.

It was really frustrating this weekend, too, because I really wanted to read since I had the time. But nope, couldn't focus. I didn’t really like WTCS either. (For the bujo.)

I finished When No One Was Watching a couple of days ago. It’s a Get Out type thriller - one half thriller, one half social commentary. It was interesting. I’m not sure the thriller parts worked as well as the other parts but it gave me a lot to think about.
I’m reading The Last Flight now, after seeing it recommended a million times in the Peloton group. It’s good so far.

Been reading a lot of books lately with very sexy men in them, so it’s hard to adjust back to reality when MH walks around farting and proclaiming loudly that he’s unloaded the dishwasher three times this week. 🤦🏼♀️

I just tore through A Woman is No Man. It was so good. Three generations of Palestinian women, focusing on arranged marriage. Highly recommend.

Has anyone read The Roommate? I'm about halfway through and I just don't feel like picking it up again. It has good reviews, so I feel like I should continue, but I just can't get excited about it.

Just finished Naomi Novik’s new book, A Deadly Education. I loved it. In the tradition of magical school experiences, I’d put it at lighter than The Magicians, but darker than HP. If you liked Uprooted and Spinning Silver I think you’ll enjoy this one. It’s book one of two, gonna be a long wait for the second one!

Uprooted is certainly much better than Spinning Silver, but I enjoyed it. This new one was more on par with Uprooted for me, thought she left a lot of unfinished business, so the sequel will have to be good for me to really love it.

I finished the gentleman's guide to vice and virtue. It was entertaining enough. I am looking forward to the next one. I'm sure she and Enola Holmes would be fast friends.
AND LADY SHERLOCK TOMORROW. Clearing my schedule.

I finished two really fun horror books this weekend: The Babysitters Coven (a YA witches/babysitters club/Buffy style story) and Benny Rose, The Cannibal King, a slahser/monster novella that was really good.

I finished last night and it was the light heart book that I needed, but I did find myself rolling my eyes and going of course that is what happens
