I’m starting the first book I’ll finish in the new year, so I thought I’d start a new thread too.
I’m reading American Royals. It’s about present day America if George Washington had been made king instead of president after the American Revolution.
What’s on everyone’s list this year?

Oh that sounds good! This reminds me, I got an email about renewing my kindle unlimited for a discount if I paid for x amount of months (6, 12, or 24) up front. I need to figure out which I want to do so I can keep reading!
I have a few Melinda Leigh books that I want to read and she has one or two new ones coming out this year that I will add to my list when they release. I have a full list of stuff on my goodreads that I want to try to work through this year as well.

And some of it sounded more passive than I prefer. I, personally, didn't find it all that great. I barely remember much about it, tbh.

My new years tradition is to start off by rereading the John Dies at the End series. Then I think Seed by Ania Ahlborn will be my first new book.

I’m reading The Guineveres now and have Nothing To See Here by Kevin Wilson on deck. I’m really excited about that one. It’s about twin girls that burst into flame when angry or upset.
I’m hoping to read 100-125 books this year. I came jussssst short in 2019. Anyone else have reading goals?

I’m going to try and get in on the ground floor of this thread. I read 93 books in 2019, mostly in the fantasy and romance genres. Right now I’m reading a romance called Well Met, set at a modern day Renaissance Faire. It’s cute and somewhat funny so far. After this one, I’ll be starting The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black, which is the third book of a pretty good fantasy trilogy so I’m excited for that one

I have my Kindle loaded up with some library books. I'm still on my fantasy kick, so I have: Throne of Jade, by Naomi Novik Strange the Dreamer, by Laini Taylor The Queen of Attolia, by Megan Turner Paper and Fire, by Rachel Caine At some point I need to finish Creativity, Inc as well. The Thief series is one of my favorites ever! I’m so excited, the final book comes out this summer. Eugenides is a fascinating character. Naomi Novik is one of my favorite authors too, if you like the Temeraire series you should try her fairy tale style novels - Uprooted and Spinning Silver. Two of my favorite fantasy novels of the past decade.

I am about half way through The First Hostage. When I am done with that I plan to do the other two in the series (The Third Target and Without Warning).

Just finished Boy Erased and it was a struggle to get through. I’ve heard the movie is better.
Currently reading Empty Mansions and it’s interesting.
Just Mercy is next on my list, hopefully before the movie comes out.

Not spectacular, but fun and a little sexy. I read 40 books in 2019, which was huge for me, so I set a goal of 50 for 2020. Just started Girl, Woman, Other and like it so far, although the formatting takes some getting used to. I know I’ll also be reading Disappearing Earth in January for book club.

I’m currently reading Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. I will actually finish it tonight, so not quite 2020. This book is so odd. It captured my attention enough to read it and I’m almost done so I will finish it but... I just don’t know.
Both of my library books are upstairs but I forget what they are. One is the newer Preston and Child book. I love their books, so I’m sure it will be on par with the usual. The other was a rec from the 2019 reading thread, I think.

I got back into reading in 2019 - read/listened to 29 books. Trying to do 32 in 2020. I’m not a fast reader so that’s a lot for me. I’ll try to play over here a bit if that’s ok.
I haven’t picked my first book but I found about 6 unread books when I cleaned my room today and I think I have 1-2 on my kindle from the library. My last book of 2019 was The Matchmaker’s List and it was just ok. It took me a long time to read because I wasn’t that interested in it.

Loved. Like it spoke to me. But I know a bunch of people who didn’t feel the same. I’m usually pretty picky about books. I don’t know what it was about that book. I think maybe the initial premise of going somewhere alone, the silence, the meals made for me, the yoga and hiking. It kinda sounds like heaven for me... of course until things progress through the book lol. I don’t want to be there at the end.

I read 17 books in 2019. My goal in 2020 is 26. I just tonight started The Family Upstairs and so far I’m into it but it seems kinda sad.
Just finished the Guardians by Grisham. Didn’t love it. I was entertained enough but some of his commentary bothered me.

My book goal for 2019 was 60 books and I managed to fit in 80.
I don’t plan on changing the 60 number. I’m in a good groove and I think the number is good for the time I give to it/enjoy it.
Tomorrow is a lazy day at home. I intend to read and clean. I bought The She Book, which is feminist poetry, and I plan to kick off the new year with that.
January book club book is A Spark of Light by Jodi Picoult.
I’m listening to Tan France’s autobiography.

I hit 65 in 2019. I read almost nothing the last two months, otherwise that probably would have been 75. I think I’ll keep with 65 for next year.
Thinking about trying a reading challenge to diversify a bit.

I haven’t tallied up my books from 2019, but it was a lot more than usual. This year I want to aim for 40.
I’m currently reading a thriller called The Last House Guest.
A couple of questions for all of you avid readers: where do you get your books and how do you track what you have read?
I don’t like to pay for books so I do library ebooks, but hold times are so long for newer titles. Maybe if I joined a few libraries it would help. And I can’t seem to find a great method of keeping track of what I’ve read. Is that what good reads is for? Help me. Lol

I just finished A Woman is No Man and it’s heartbreaking.
I also finished the most fun we ever had. It took me a while to get into it but I actually really liked it.
Right now I’m reading my lovely wife and it’s meh.
I just got catch and kill off of the hold list on the Libby app so i might just switch to that.

I’m a member of two libraries. One allows 10 on my holds list and the other allows 15 so I usually have a book to read. Getting kindle books from the library is one of my most favorite things. The only thing I don’t like is sometimes I’ll get off the wait list for a bunch of books at once and I feel pressure to read quickly. The last time that happened though I just put a few back on the holds list and waited again.

pearbear, I think those of us who are crazy trackers are using a website/app called Goodreads. It’s a social media site for readers, you can set up reading goals, track the books you’re reading and rate/write reviews when you’re done. For me, it took me a while to get into it, but it’s a huge factor in meeting my goal and staying on track now. I love it, a little too much perhaps.
