We did something similar when transitioning DS to his big boy bed around Christmas, thatgolfb . We set it up in our spare room for guests before letting him use it himself. Then, after everyone left we put it in his room with his new bedding set. This solidifies it for me! After everything calms down, probably after the holidays, we will make the full transition.

Current idea I'm working with: Retro Coloring Book.
I need more time to flesh it out.

I'm thinking mustard walls, but maybe a black and white wall with a retro coloring book page design painted on it. Black and White curtains and bedding with pops of color. OR maybe Mary Poppins theme. My mind is abuzz ATM.

Welp since we are moving DS will get his own room! I've fallen down the Pinterest hole. We've been hoarding the Aviator Tula blanket hoping 2.0 would be a boy so that's our inspiration. pin.it/aBaCo3ESent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very important question: Crib skirt or no crib skirt??? We only used one when the mattress was in the highest position, otherwise it dragged on the floor. It came with our bedding set I think. We won't be using one for this kid

Does anyone have any good closet organizing tips? We are going to have the girls share a room. How do you all store kid shoes? Right now DD has an overflowing bin in the bottom of her closet but I'd like it to look better and be more accessible.

Very important question: Crib skirt or no crib skirt??? We had one but grumpycat is right, it drags if the mattress isn't on the highest setting. They aren't practical but they're cute.

I've seen a few pics online of fancy/trendy nurseries and they don't have crib skirts, so I was wondering if maybe the trend is over. I'm not sure what mattress position they had though!

Very important question: Crib skirt or no crib skirt??? If I can find one I like, I'll use it while on the highest setting. I don't want to detract from the crib legs when it's on a lower setting. I may end up making one. The ones that I'm remotely liking, are like $60. And that's dumb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We never had a crib skirt with DD. I don't really plan on having one this time. Probably a UO, I don't like how they look and I would rather see whatever is stored underneath lol.

We had a striped one that came with DS's bed set. It was really cute. I think it's all completely dependent on your preference and style.

I bought one online because I needed something to get free shipping and it was $15 for a dwell brand one. It's mostly white with red/blue/yellow cityscape outline on it. It's subtle, so I think it'll work okay. It just won't go with the mint green llama crib sheet my mom bought, haha, but will be fine with others. I'll try it and see I guess

Next Q: Is anybody making anything for the nursery? Art or something? I'm crocheting a rug that looks like a sun to go with the theme, but that's all I have planned so far. I want some kind of unique/interesting art for above the change table, but I'm not really sure what I want or where to find it. I feel like etsy kind of sucks now and it's just filled with all of the same stuff from different vendors. I also think I want some shelves like this for a blank wall:

They honestly wouldn't be hard to make, just a bit time consuming (and you'd probably want to use an electric saw unless you wanted to spend a million years sanding down sharp edges). We aren't getting anything additional made (and I am not crafty). But we have paintings that my brother did and a knitted star pillow/stars on a string that a friend from my former BMB made for me. I love that we will have items that were made by loved ones in the room. It makes the decor even more special.

Definitely grumpycat! Our living room has a painting done by my grandma and photography done by my brother, so I like special art!

It's the photomosaic puzzle of Tigger (the theme is obvs Winnie the Pooh).

I might make most of the art for the nursery. Not sure what it will be yet, though. I definitely want to paint a mural wall, my Pinterest is currently filled with inspo for that. First I have to paint DD's and DS's rooms.

I love those shelves blabbermouth! I don't think we'll be making anything, not feeling to crafty at the moment. We'll see when the nursery starts coming together more.

So I am debating whether or not to paint the nursery before DS arrives. It's a gray color, but the light in that room makes it look slightly purple. I'll probably just add a bunch of red and blue accents and call it a day.

I hate using a roller, but the rest of it keeps me pretty zen. I got a little overwhelmed with all I have to paint still today. I shall persevere, though!

I think it's just all of the stuff that goes along with it that I hate. I helped my friends paint and they had everything ready, holes patched, things taped off so all I had to do was roll and brush. Then I don't mind!
