Guess who may have the chicken pox? If you answered both of my kids, you’re probably right! The pedi said it’s either that or hand, foot mouth, since they’re not itchy. But neither one has anything on their hands, feet or mouth. WTF?!?!?! This also means I have to cancel H’s immunologist appt on Thursday. I hope I can get another appt soon. Wait what??? Any idea where they may have picked it up? Didn’t our N13s just get the vaccine? I may not be remembering correctly, but I thought they get it at 5? I’m sorry. Poor kids. Glad they aren’t itchy.

jewels poor kid. Hope he feels better soon. I know it may be hard, but try to get some rest tonight. Is YH home to help? M was feeling warm last week and didn’t seem like his norm and when I asked him how he felt, he said his head hurt. He was just a little stuffy, so I figured maybe a sinus headache. I have him Benadryl and Tylenol that night and he woke up fine so I sent him to school. Hope it’s nothing serious for S.

jewels maybe once he is better ask him where it hurts and how it hurt. It could be a migraine. My niece started getting them at 6. Fingers crossed it was a one off.

tallb so in my class we had 2 girls with the same first name and the same last name with the exception one ended in sen and the other was son. They were also born 2 or 3 days apart. They ended up saying blonde J and brunette J. We also had 2 Ryans (and a Bryan) and 2 Matts, and 2 Kellis. Most of the duplicate names where there from kindergarten on. My school was tiny too.

First dose is around 12-15 months. Next dose is 4-5. So H hasn’t had the 2nd dose yet. I have no idea where she got it.

tgrimes this seems like something the immunologist would want to see or test for titres. Was the appt for some other blood work? Fx it's hfm I’m going to call the immunologist tomorrow. But I wouldn’t want to risk infecting immunocompromised kids with anything else. I’m hoping he can just put orders in for lab work and I can take him when he’s healthy.

When C had HFM he only had one spot on his foot. Nothing on his hands or mouth. He had spots on his trunk mostly. Mara’s was mostly on her trunk too, with only a couple spots in her mouth.

tgrimes oh no! No vaccine for chickenpox over here, so Ds has had it. You’ll know soon enough, HFM looks very different. If they do get itchy, a lukewarm bath with oatmeal helps. I just put Oatmeal in a washcloth and tied it. We had a cream to, for ds it was over and done within 5 days and wasn’t that bad. Hopefully it’s the same for you guys!

He does have a flair for the dramatic but the fact that he put himself to bed so early then woke out of sleep hysterical again had me worried. He did sleep through the night after that incident. Woke up saying he was feeling better. Then as soon as he sat up he started crying again. Not as bad as last night. Gave him Motrin and he’s resting now

He points to his forehead. I asked him if it hurt by his checks (sinus) or at the base of his head or anything and he said no

I had HFM as a teenager (worked in a day care center). I got a few spots on my hands but that was it. Mostly just a super high fever.

I’m going to call daycare today to see if anyone has reported anything in any of the other classrooms.

Were they around someone with chicken pox? Nevermind I see you don't know where they could have picked it up. I should have read before posting but am so frustrated for you.

Oh no tgrimes!! I hope it’s not chicken pox but whatever it is,that they feel better soon. FX H’s appointment can be rescheduled soon Poor S jewels, I hope he’s better today. Maybe a good idea to start tracking the headaches and symptoms so if you go to the Dr you have info to give them. I hope you were able to rest as well, big hugs.

vino I was thinking that and also thinking about tracking what he ate leading up to them. I don't get migraines per se but I get nasty headaches and I have noticed that 3 things usually effect them - diet, weather changes, and hormonal changes. So I'm wondering if what he ate helped make it so bad. MH is home with him today (they were supposed to be going on a trip but cancelled) and says he's doing much better after Motrin and Zrytec (I thought it might be allergies too). So hopefully he has a better day/night today

jewels , I get really bad migraines if I get dehydrated, so you might track his water intake as well

jewels , I get really bad migraines if I get dehydrated, so you might track his water intake as well Thankfully water intake is 1 area I don't worry about with him. He has always drank a ton of water. Probably 40+ ounces per day (he's only 42 Lbs). But I too get headaches if I am dehydrated so it is always the first thing I tell him to do if he's not feeling well. Last night even through he refused to eat, he was still drinking so in this case, I don't think that was it.

Oh brother, tgrimes. Could not like that one. Hope S is feeling better, jewels. tallb - Colin had another Colin on his tball team these last 2 years. Both have Dad's with the same name, and they co-coached. Probably made things easier for the kids, I guess.

Could it be strep jewels? I always got horrible headaches with strep as a kid. Worse than my throat. Or has he already been checked by the Dr? I can’t remember.

He was checked about 1.5 weeks ago for strep and it was negative. That’s when they just said it was post nasal drip and to treat that. That’s not to say he hasn’t developed it since then. I went back to treating him for allergies and iit seems to be improving. Although he’s super dramatic so I’m not sure.
