We’re binge watching Luther. It is good British crime solving. Any of you girls seen it? MH adores it. It started his love affair with Idris Elba

Is there a whooping cough vaccine? Am I making this up? I feel like I got it when I was pregnant and they told me it would be passed along to Evie. So I wouldn't worry about it now. Yes, and her son was vaccinated for it. She said she was concerned about any kids at his school that weren't vaccinated. Cadence has been vaccinated for it, so I wasn't super worried, just wondering if I should be.
She just finished her round of amox for strep and now has this cold/possible allergies going on, so I'm a bit on edge.
My niece had whooping cough around this age. It isn’t as bad as it is for babies or young toddlers. If I remember correctly (this was like 9 years ago) it was just a really bad cough/cold. She was vaccinated and the other kid is on antibiotics so I wouldn’t be super worried about it.

tgrimes that does sound serious! But I do like them teaching kids music at school. I can’t play any instrument & can’t read notes, for the life of me (I did ballet, theatre & choir). You didn't have to read music for choir? I did not have to read music for choir.

We have to sign kids in to before care. I was hoping i could drop at the door, but I will have to park, get a baby and N out, take him in, and then load back up. And then get n and the baby out at the baby's daycare, and then again get N out at her school. I will never actually arrive at work. If baby is sleeping/content I would leave her in a locked, running car for the 5 minutes it would take me to run in.

That would not fly in my area (nor would I be comfortable with it), and I live in a pretty safe area! I did, however, sometimes leave my kids if I got a super close parking spot, go the 20 steps to the door, hold open the door and watch C go to his classroom right there. I could see all kids at all times.

I could do it in my area but I fear the good samaritan... dnw my kids taken because someone thought I had abandoned them when I just ran in to get something quickly and called the police.

The bucket seat should be easy enough with the snap and go, and then it's the second stop for baby daycare. If the is parking right outside the door for aftercare, maybe I'd feel okay with that but would need to be in my line of sight and super quick dropoffs, but that hasn't been the case for us yet.. and we are pretty urban.

I do know whole notes, half notes, rests, etc are. I’m sure the people in honor choir or whatever knew but I was just in regular choir till I graduated.

Yeah, I guess that makes a difference. I didn’t do it every time when S was little but it’s safe, close parking and I would time it so I ran in right as they were rereleasing the kids so it was only a few minutes. I have seen others in the parking lot like that too. When H went to her in-home daycare other parents would leave their car running/unlocked in the driveway and run in. I did not do that.

We have to sign in to before school care if we use it. We can drop him off at his class but it stops midway through 1st grade I think. Our school gave us a flyer saying that they would call the police if a child was left in the car, no matter what. I guess they had a problem a few years ago.

Ouch cagoldi ! When I stabbed my hand the nurses just said to keep it clean with soap and water, they don't even recommend hydrogen peroxide anymore cause they're finding that it is killing new cells that are trying to form. Clean it every 12 hours with soap and water, apply polysporin and bandaid and you should be good. This is news to me. It would devastate my stepdad. He's a germophobe and he probably buys hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol by the gallon. He's very hard to buy for and one year for Christmas I got him a tub full of his favorite daily items and included those. It's saddens the inner sadist and masochist in me. I love watching it bubble. You can pry my peroxide out of my cold dead hands! The bubbling tells me it’s working.

I am very uncomfortable with a baby alone in a locked car. In Boston once I was in line at Starbucks and two cops came in and flipped on a woman for doing that. I get that a coffee is different than a drop off but either place someone could easily pick the lock and take off with the baby. Or a medical incident or something I’m just too paranoid. Eta: not meant to be a judgement on you trtlcrzy. We live in very different areas and my job also makes me paranoid. Which is also why I wouldn’t let C walk from the bus stop. It’s very easy for a pedophile to groom a kid over time by just saying hi as they walk by.

We had K orientation today. Of course I already read every piece of literature so it was a bit boring. One of Cs good friends is in his class and three others are in the other K classes including the girl that loves him. They will all be together for lunch and recess so that’s cool. He really took to the teacher and loved the classroom. He still says he is not excited but I can tell he is.
We can always walk the kids in but only to the cafeteria. I will the first day but then am sending him on the bus. I think he will be nervous about that. He’s very shy around new people and worries they won’t want to be his friend. It’s so opposite to his outgoing nature so it throws me for a loop.

But a quick run into the building to get my kid I am ok with. And like I said, it wasn’t everyday just if she fell asleep in the car. S would flip out if I tried going inside without her if she was awake.

H and her friend asked when they got off the bus this afternoon to have a play date. Her friend’s mom offered for her to go over to their house so that was nice. I went and got her an hour and a half later and it sounds like they had fun. I didn’t realize until it was basically too late that I had a work meeting tonight. After DH got home I got ready quick and was able to make the last 10ish minutes before heading to the desk.

So we got our class assignment and it's a new to the school teacher. J's girlfriend isn't in our class, but another boy named J is (I met his mom at the PTA meeting). She seems nice but I'm a little annoyed that he is starting off with 2 kids with the same name in the class..I know his name is super common, but this is the first kid his age I've met with it. Oh well...the poor teacher and other parents, the mom and I have the same name too🙄.
And tomorrow is J's last day. I have gifts packed, books picked out for his teacher of the day, and lunch orders from the teachers since we are bringing in chipotle. And also Dunkin donuts for the afternoon treat. This has turned into quite the production. I'm a bit extra, but oh well.

Guess who may have the chicken pox? If you answered both of my kids, you’re probably right! The pedi said it’s either that or hand, foot mouth, since they’re not itchy. But neither one has anything on their hands, feet or mouth.
WTF?!?!?!
This also means I have to cancel H’s immunologist appt on Thursday. I hope I can get another appt soon.

I am writing from the floor in S room. The past few weeks off and on he complained of a headache. I get headaches pretty often so I kind of thought he was just imitating me. Today at pick up he said he had a headache and his throat was hurting. He was acting pretty ok but we gave him Tylenol. We had to run some errands and on the way back he started crying hysterically and couldn’t stop. We got home and said he just wanted to go to sleep (1.5 hours early)
He woke up 30 minutes ago hysterical again. Said his stomach hurt but peed and I think that was why but said his head was hurting. Couldn’t stop crying. Gave him Motrin
He is now quiet but I told him I’d stay w him till I was sure he was asleep
Now my mind is reeling. Of course.

With any vaccine you may not make the antibodies for it, so it’s still possible to get the virus. That’s why we rely on herd immunity. Some people can’t get vaccinated and some people don’t make the antibodies. It may not be as bad though if you’ve received the vaccine.

My kid’s school is like a fortress, we are lucky the kids are able to get inside. We are only bused to middle school. It annoyed the heck out of me that there were 3 moms who stood on DS’s stop before and after school every single day last year. The kids need that independence by that age. I....was smoking at the bus stop in middle school. Lol. At that age, you don't need a chaperone, unless you're in a really shitty part of town. Or, your parents are doing it as punishment. Our middle school starts at 4th grade through 8th. It used to be 5th but they added a prek class to the elementary and moved the 4th grade
